Shayk may be a model, but she tells Vogue that she doesn’t put herself on “model diets.” She says that she focuses on living a balanced lifestyle. “I drink a lot of water, but I don't do diets,” she said. “People have this opinion of models that they don't eat - they'd soon stop thinking that if they saw me in a restaurant. I eat ice cream and cake, but it's a question of balance. If I eat something like that, I feel much better afterwards if I spend a few hours in the gym.”

Shayk tells Vogue that she uses a lot of different things to take care of her skin. “I always love to change and try something new, as I believe that if you stick with one moisturizer and one face wash, your skin will become dry or oily. I do it four times a week when I’m at home in New York.”

I try to sleep at least nine hours before an important event. When I wake up I like to go to the gym and to a steam room — it gives me great energy and makes skin look perfect. She aims to live a balanced lifestyle, not putting too many restrictions on her eating habits. “I don’t believe in diets, I think food is an important part of one’s life and it makes a person happy, so I find a balance between eating and working out,” she said to Vogue Australia.

In addition to being physically strong, she’s driven and mentally strong, as well. “I started quite late — when I was 19 — and my first model trip was to Paris. It was a difficult but very intense time — I had to learn how to work as a model, learn English, learn how to pose… But in life nothing comes easy and you have to work hard to achieve something,” she said to Vogue Australia.

She enjoys walking and practicing pilates, in addition to other workouts. “I like to do pilates [reformer], work out with my trainer and walk a lot,” she said to Vogue Australia. In fact, two days ago I had a huge burger with cheese, French fries, lots of ketchup and mayo and a large Sprite,” she told Women’s Health. “But in the name of balance, I got up the next morning, did 30 minutes of barre in my room and ate steamed fish and grilled vegetables for dinner. I'm from Russia, so I've been brought up on hearty food like meat and dumplings and potato stews in big warming portions, but if I’m preparing for a shoot or show, I’ll eat particularly clean – salads and soups – to ensure a flat stomach. She tells Women’s Health that one of her secrets is switching what moisturizer she uses. “I make sure I always moisturize. Some people find a favorite product and stick with it for years, but I swap between moisturizers every week, so my skin doesn’t get too used to one formula and becomes immune to its benefits.”
