Jackson’s busy life can naturally be really stressful to handle. Luckily, she says that she has a way to relax. “Two things relax me, the ocean and driving. So I had to learn how to drive. That was always my thing,” she told Allure.

2. She Is Very Spiritual

Jackson has been through a lot of difficulty and scrutiny in her life, however, she says that she doesn’t let it beat her down. Jackson says that she is extremely spiritual and has strong faith. “It’s only God who’s in control of it all. You know what I mean?” she told Allure.

3. She Doesn’t Let Gender Roles Tear Her Down

Jackson has become a symbol of feminism for many people out there, and she says that she doesn’t let society’s gender roles and sexism stop her from doing what she wants. “It was difficult at times being a woman and being told, ‘No, you can’t.’ Why? ‘Because women don’t do that. I was never a girly girl. I was always a tomboy. So it was always about pants, suits, even as an early teenager. I remember when my brothers got their star on the Walk of Fame and other awards they got, and I look back on pictures and I always had on a suit with a tie, a bow tie, or suspenders,” she told Allure.

4. She’s Found Acceptance In Her Body

At the beginning of Jackson’s career, she mostly wore outfits that covered her body. However, when she released her album Janet, she began embracing her body, and found acceptance with herself. “It took a lot of work, a lot of work,” she told Allure. “It was something very tough, very difficult. But I’m glad I walked through it. I’m really glad I got in. It was a way of accepting and loving, accepting yourself and your body.”

5. She Has Supportive Fans

Halle Berry doesn’t just star in her latest movie, Bruised, about an aging MMA fighter. (It’s in theaters now and on Netflix November 24th.) She directed it, too. The achievement landed her the cover of Women’s Health. “What an immense pleasure to speak with @womenshealthmag on everything Bruised -- and thank you to my beautiful friend @cliffwatts for an incredible shoot!!,” Berry wrote on Instagram. Says Women's Health: “When she couldn't find the right director to help bring her vision for the story to life, she took it on herself." Read on to see 7 ways Halle Berry stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She Says Age is Just a Number

"I'm at my best when I have to work hard and when I'm facing challenges," the Oscar winner told Women’s Health, calling the new role "totally empowering. To be the age I am and push my body to its limits reminded me that age is just a number. We can control how we define ourselves, and I’ve never been healthier and felt stronger. This movie helped me realize that."

2. She Worked Hard for Those Abs

With longtime trainer Peter Lee Thomas, Halle will do “sets of weighted lunges, stairs with weights, squats, and plyometrics (a blend of cardio and strength training), which includes jumps with weighted balls, sprawls, and Turkish get-ups. To target her core, Halle does situps and crunches while hanging upside down,” says Women’s Health. “Only something severe even puts a dent in my abs,” Halle told WH. “I’ve had two children, so the skin is just looser there. So, I have to fill that area with muscle.”

3. She Intermittent Fasts

In Creative Company Special Screening Of Netflix's "Bruised"Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images

Intermittent fasting can reduce fat calls. According to one study: “Through an analysis into the underlying biology involved, the researchers found that such intermittent fasting tempers an immune reaction in fat cells. There are changes in certain gene pathways involved in the immune system and the body's reaction to inflammation.” "Intermittent fasting without a reduction in calorie intake can be a preventative and therapeutic approach against obesity and metabolic disorders," said study author Kyoung-Han Kim.

4. She’s Learned This as She’s Grown

Bruised Red Carpet / ReceptionPresley Ann/Getty Images for Netflix

“As I’ve grown, I’ve learned that what’s important in life is our attitude, sense of well-being, and sense of strength on top of being healthy and strong. It was never about me looking a certain way; it’s always been about achieving optimal health. I just wanted to strengthen myself from the inside out. That’s how we keep the impression of youth because we keep our bodies younger and feeling stronger, and we’re more active so we feel like we’re essentially aging backward. But we’re aging forwards and being mindful about how we do it,” she told Shondaland.

5. Motherhood Changed Her

27th Annual ELLE Women In Hollywood Celebration - ArrivalsAmy Sussman/Getty Images

“Then, from the moment I became a mother onward, I wanted to be strong and healthy for my kids. I wanted to be around for them for as long as possible. I wanted to be able to carry them out of a burning house if I needed to,” she told WH in a previous interview.

6. She Launched a Wellness App

The Annual espnW: Women + Sports SummitLeon Bennett/Getty Images

“I started to think: What can I leave my children? And what is the greatest imprint I can leave on this earth when I leave? And I realized that it was to leave a brand that they could connect to that was also a part of who I was. I wanted to have a voice that mattered, that lived outside of my work as an actor. Our rē•spin community is rooted in helping people across the board to address the needs of people who are interested in health, wellness, and fitness and who are committed to living a mindful life and their best life,” she told Shondaland.

7. ”When You Know Better, You Do Better"

“I want people to rethink everything about their health,” Berry told Oprah Daily. “Everybody is different—it shouldn't be about trying some fad diet that everyone is doing. There is so much new information and technology out there now, and when you know better, you do better.”

Selma Blair is celebrating her health! The actress and multiple sclerosis advocate enjoyed a recent getaway to Golden Door health spa in California, looking absolutely gorgeous and glowing in a black swimsuit. “A week of health and healing in a golden place,” she captioned the series of stunning snaps. “I wanna go there!! And btw You look absolutely vibrant and gorgeous,” remarked Juliette Lewis. “Gorgeous,” added Kendra Wilkinson. What are some of the 49-year-old’s most inspirational musings? Read on to learn about Selma Blair’s journey—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bikini Photos!

1. She Revealed Her Diagnosis in 2018

In October 2018 Selma first revealed in an Instagram post that she was battling MS. “I have #multiplesclerosis . I am in an exacerbation,” she wrote. “I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things.” "Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system)," says the Mayo Clinic. "In MS, the immune system attacks the protective sheath (myelin) that covers nerve fibers and causes communication problems between your brain and the rest of your body. Eventually, the disease can cause permanent damage or deterioration of the nerves." Now in 2021, she says she's in a good place:

2. She Rocked Her Cane with Pride

Selma made a major statement when she hit the red carpet of the Vanity Fair Oscar Party with a custom cane. The actress was successful in normalizing a cane not only as a health necessity, but an accessory, showing it off whenever she got a chance.

3. She Filmed a Documentary About Her Journey

Selma has been completely transparent about her health, documenting all of the ups and downs and sharing her symptoms with fans. In October, a documentary about her journey, Introducing Selma Blair, is coming to discovery+. “It can be very isolating when you get some diagnosis, for some people. For me, it wasn’t. It brought me out more. Because before I just thought I was batshit [crazy]. Which could still be the case, but batshit openly with MS and being symptomatic at times,” she told Deadline. “My humor’s a bit sticky… Like Carrie Fisher said, ‘If it wasn’t funny then it would just be true…’ I do like humor and sometimes very inappropriate [humor] and I ask everyone’s forgiveness as I go on this journey in life. Oh, I’m sure I’ll be cancelled many times.”

4. She Became Comfortable in Her Body

Selma learned how to be comfortable in her body. “I am aware my challenges affect other hopeful or isolated people—and a few of them may be joyful snobs like me,” Blair told Town & Country. “I’m very comfortable in my body, mostly because I am now making a deeper positive connection with it. I am fascinated by this body and this life. I am humbled and pleased to be any inspiration for people.”

5. She Is In Remission

TIME 100 Health SummitCraig Barritt/Getty Images

In August 2021 at the Discovery+ TCA panel, in which she discussed her upcoming documentary Introducing Selma Blair, she revealed she was in remission. "My prognosis is great. I'm in remission. Stem cell put me in remission," she said. "It took about a year after stem cell for the inflammation and lesions to really go down." She hopes that everyone can learn from her health journey. "To hear even just me showing up with a cane or sharing something that might be embarrassing, it was a key for a lot of people in finding comfort in themselves and that means everything to me," she said. "I'm thrilled that I have some platform. In no means am I saying that I'm speaking for all people in this condition or any condition of chronic illness, I'm speaking my story and I that helps normalize one thing to open the door for other people to be comfortable in telling their stories. I'm thrilled to have this here."

But you just can't keep that up," Rita told Shape. "With the plan I'm on, you can eat quite a bit as long as you exercise." She starts her day off with two boiled eggs, asparagus, and half a cup of muesli with almond milk. "For lunch, I have chicken or fish with vegetables, and for dinner, I have six to eight ounces of fish with vegetables and half a potato. Plus snacks," she revealed. One thing she doesn't eat? Bread or sugar. "But I'm not starving myself. I used to be like, 'I'm not eating!' Eating isn't the problem, though. It's about what your body needs, and everyone's body is different."

1. She Mixes Up Her Workouts

Jenna explains that her approach to fitness has changed over the past few decades and now in her 40s, “the focus is muscle training with Pilates, plus hiking with friends,” she said. “I’ve turned my garage into a gym. I do a lot of workouts off the Mirror [an interactive smart gym with real-time feedback] and I have a Soul Cycle bike. I also do regular privates over Zoom with my Pilates instructor, Kim Carruthers. She’s a secret weapon and how I keep my muscles where they should be.”

2. Exercise Helps with Her Anxiety

Premiere Of "L.O.L Surprise!"Steve Granitz/WireImage

Jenna is all about the mental health benefits of exercise. “Sometimes I’ll have gone a few days [without a workout] and I wonder, ‘Why do I feel a bit more anxious than normal?’ [Then I realize] ‘Oh wait, you haven’t moved your body.’ I had two cesareans and that period of time where you’re not really walking well is difficult; my focus was on just surviving and taking care of my beautiful babies. But when I start to feel anxious, my first check-in with myself is, ‘When have you moved your body recently?’”

3. She’s All About Self-Care

Jenna pays attention to her cues -- especially when she starts experiencing anxiety -- and acts accordingly with self-care. “The things that help me are working out, moving, dancing, walking, getting fresh air or even taking 10 minutes to go in another room, to do anything, something just for yourself. I am also a huge fan of baths at night. That really helps me, locking everyone out of the bathroom for a bath all to myself with my oil and my salts and music to relax.”

4. She Eats Healthy Most of the Time

Variety's Power Of Women: Los Angeles Event - ArrivalsJon Kopaloff/WireImage

In a previous interview with Us she revealed that she eats healthy, most of the time! “I believe in eating 80/20,” she explained. “I do 80 percent as healthy as possible — vegetarian and vegan, as healthy as I can.” She fuels up on nutritious foods like “lots of vegetables and lots of smoothies” most of the time, allowing herself a little room to cheat. “And then 20 percent I’m eating Mexican food if I want it,” she said. “You know, I’ve gotta be able to indulge and have a glass of wine and feel good in that way, so that helps me not be so strict and so focused in one way.”

5. She Drinks Hot Water with Lemon

She also starts her day off with hot water and lemon as well as supplements. “I love healthy living,” she said. “I’ve taken quite a lot of supplements, I make quite a lot of smoothies. I’m, like, really about trying to keep myself in balance and healthy as much as possible.”

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Morning Workouts

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Self-Care

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.
