1

Tracking Nutrition

McKay tracks her calories and nutrition through an app. "I find it easy to track my nutrition," she says. "I use the MyFitnessPal app because I think it's the most precise way to track your food and calories. It makes it so much easier when traveling."

2

Treadmill Workouts

McKay gets her cardio sessions in on the treadmill. "While treadmills may seem boring, they can offer a good alternative for exercise, depending on how you use them," says Dr. Adam Tenforde, with the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard-affiliated Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. "There is so much more to treadmills than just 'push the button and start walking.'"

3

Fueling Her Body

McKay approaches her diet like the athlete she is. "Feel your body and eat the right foods that will fuel you with energy for the rest of the day while keeping you healthy. No matter where I go, I always take a pack with me that contains protein powder or a protein bar, nuts, and tuna for those times when you just can't find anything," she says.

4

Weights At the Gym

McKay works out with weights to build muscle, strength, and endurance for the ring. "Choose a weight or resistance level heavy enough to tire your muscles after about 12 to 15 repetitions," says the Mayo Clinic. "When you can easily do more repetitions of a certain exercise, gradually increase the weight or resistance."

5

Hardcore Workouts

McKay works hard every time she exercises. "Every time I step into the gym, I give it my all," she says.  "I want to beat what I did yesterday, sweat a little more sweat, and work harder because it all adds up. It sounds easy to say, but you will definitely see results."
