This is Her Workout
"I like to practice yoga at the Alo studio in Soho. I also train at the Gym 2-3 times a week using the treadmill or machines," she told Husskie. Yoga is key. "According to the American Psychological Association, one of the best things that you can do to manage stress is to exercise regularly. If you're not very active or have mobility limitations, yoga is very adaptable. A common misconception is that you have to be super flexible to do it. You don't. …What you will need is a lot of patience, the ability to laugh at yourself from time to time and a willingness to block out your ego," says the Cleveland Clinic.
She Meditates
"Self-reflection has allowed me the opportunity to practice self-love and focus on what I value the most, such as family, friends, and my health. I also have been practicing daily mindfulness and meditation more than ever. The Headspace app has been a great tool for me, reminding me to focus on being grateful and in the moment," she told Haute Living.
This is Her Dinner
Joy has salmon or grass-fed beef for dinner. Both excellent choices. "Research shows that grass-fed cows significantly improve the fatty acid composition of beef. Grass-fed meats are also richer in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and omega-3 fatty acids," Jessica Handy, RD, tells our sister site Eat This, Not That!, which adds: "Additionally, grass-fed meat boasts a more desirable omega-3 to omega-6 ratio—with a higher concentration of omega-3s to combat inflammation."
She Uses These Supplements
"Everyday I try to supplement grass fed collagen in my coffee, CBD from Kruvana, Vitamin C, and magnesium," she told Husskie. "Many Americans don't get enough magnesium in their diets. Before you reach for a supplement, though, you should know that just a few servings of magnesium-rich foods a day can meet your need for this important nutrient," says the Mayo Clinic. "Nuts, seeds, whole grains, beans, leafy vegetables, milk, yogurt and fortified foods are good sources. One ounce of almonds contains 20% of the daily magnesium an adult needs. Even water (tap, mineral or bottled) can provide magnesium. Some laxatives and antacids also contain magnesium."
These are Her Key Beauty Hacks
Joy told Haute Living:
- "Drink plenty of water! It's a great way to rid my body of toxins and curb my appetite. Drinking a huge glass of water first thing in the morning is one of my favorite habits.
- Soak your hair in virgin coconut oil. With all this downtime, I can focus on repairing my hair and have applying coconut oil overnight makes my hair super healthy.
- Take collagen and ketones every day. Collagen has been great for my nails, skin and hair. Ketones give me an amazing natural energy boost throughout the day."
