The French actress and star of Hindi films steams up social media in her latest photo, modeling a bathing suit for You and I magazine. “It’s getting hot again,” the 38-year-old star of Paava Kadhaigal, CandyFlip and Dev.D captioned the snap. 1. This Is Her Wellness Mantra

When it comes to wellness, Kalki lives by one mantra: “Work out, eat healthy, learn new things, spend time looking after your body and mind. It will make you beautiful,” she told Vogue India. This kind of attitude is essential during these stressful times. The body loves to be exercised as it relieves stress. Stress releases a nasty hormone in our body called cortisol. Cortisol tells your body to store fat, not burn it.

2. She Does Yoga

“We all have different personalities, likes and dislikes. Some people find going to the gym very boring. I would advise you to go and take up an exercise programme you love,” she suggested to Masala. One of her go-tos? Yoga. After giving birth in 2020, she didn’t waste any time getting back into her practice. “Still sore and stiff but getting back to it slowly…,” she captioned this Instagram snap.

3. She Hydrates

Kalki makes sure to hydrate before, during, and after working out. In addition to water, she also keeps her thirst satiated and electrolytes restored by drinking fresh coconut water. “Friday hydration,” she posted this photo of herself and her daughter, sipping straight from a coconut.

4. She Surfs

Kalki has been surfing for years. During the pandemic, she shared a throwback photo taken during a surf trip in Goa. March 2021. I miss that feeling,” she captioned the snap.

One thing Kalki doesn’t have in her wallet? A gym membership card. “I’m not fond of going to the gym and I don’t have a personal trainer,” she told Masala. Instead, she goes running. She told Vogue India: “I jog a different route every day.”

6. She Also Swims

Surfing isn’t the only water exercise Kalki likes. “I swim for an hour every day,” she added to Masala. “I think it’s the most balanced form of exercise. It keeps you lean without building up too much unnecessary muscle; it works on every muscle of your body.”

7. She Makes Workouts Fun

Kalki is all about blasting calories via team athletics. “I love sports like football and volleyball. Volleyball is a great sport; it’s easy and fun, especially when played on the beach.It’s important to have variety in your workout routine, and I think there is no better workout routine than indulging in a sport,” she told Masala. “Playing sports is interactive, social and you don’t feel like you’re working out – it’s about having fun.”

8. Her Biggest Don’t: Crash Diets

When asked about her diet don’ts, Kalki didn’t hold back. “There’s no shortcut to losing weight; as a teenager I was always trying crash diets,” she told Masala. “I would starve myself for a few days before going on a beach holiday in an effort to lose quick pounds. It was always disastrous and I would actually put on pounds because I’d end up binging after three days of depriving myself,” she said.

9. She Fuels Up with Carbs

One of her eating rules? “Don’t eat immediately after exercise as the body stores it as fat,” she told Masala. She also believed in eating a hearty breakfast, as it “gives you the necessary energy boost to get you through the rest of the day,” she pointed out. “I would recommend a heavy, carbohydrate-fuelled breakfast; I love eating oats with honey and yogurt. My lunch usually consists of rice with some curry like chicken; or rajma, with chaas or yet more yogurt. Roti, vegetables and lentils are my mainstay for dinner; and sometimes, I relish snacking on some Shrewsbury biscuits or cheese and crackers.”

10. She Celebrates Curves

Kalki doesn’t strive to be skinny. “It’s great having womanly curves,” she told Masala, “it sets us apart from the gents. Everyone has a different body type but we always seem to try so hard to be clones, aspiring to one shape that is deemed desirable. It’s sad that we are losing our individual identities and looks by aspiring to be reed thin.”
