1. She Does Pool Workouts

According to celebrity trainer Ben Bruno, Kate’s pool workout is hardcore. “The pool workouts look easy, but they’re actually really tough. Here’s a clip of the hand weight circuit and the bar circuit, but we also do a bunch of lower body stuff, and sometimes we’ll bring the KBox or some dumbbells out by the pool and do a mix of weights and pool stuff,” he wrote alongside an Instagram video of the model breaking a sweat while making a splash.

2. She Works Out Five Days a Week

Bruno revealed to Cosmopolitan that Kate works out five times a week, for one to two hour sessions. Her workouts consist of strength training, and work her entire body. Her go-to exercises include a mix of deadlifts, hip thrusts, lunges, rows, and sled pulls. "A lot of girls are scared to do strength training because they fear that they're going to bulk up, but if you do the right stuff and focus on the right exercises, it actually helps tighten everything up. Kate has really tightened up her physique noticeably as she's gotten stronger,” he explained.

3. She Eats Clean

“Nutrition is more than half the battle,” when it comes to Kate’s success says Bruno. “She committed to both the training and the eating right from the get-go, and that's why she's seeing such great results." Most of her meals consist of lean protein and veggies, avoiding added sugars and processed foods. "That's been key," Bruno explained. "If you limit sugar and processed food, that takes care of most of the problems." She also loves smoothies.

4. She Has Workout Competition

Kate loves a little friendly competition. Luckily, she has another one of Bruno’s star clients, Chelsea Handler, to fill the role. The girls are constantly tagging each other in workout videos, trying to one-up each other.

5. She Cheats

Everyone has a go-to cheat food. According to Bruno, Kate’s is a glass of wine. “I don't want it to feel like an unbearable diet. There's not a set cheat day or anything like that, but she does have treats here and there,” he says.

6. She Maintains an Active Lifestyle

Kate maintains an active lifestyle. Her Instagram feed is filled with images of herself engaging in sweat sessions that don’t involve lifting weights. Some of her favorites? Hiking, swimming, tennis, riding horses, and even rock climbing. “This is your sign to go rock climbing. 🧗🏼‍♀️ 10/10 highly recommend,” she captioned this video.

7. She Does Aerial Yoga

Apparently regular yoga isn’t challenging enough for Kate. The model recently shared a photo of herself doing aerial yoga.

Kate Upton, the world-famous model and actor, is known for being one of the most stunning women on the planet, her beauty earning her three covers of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and a Vanity Fair cover to boot. A mother of one and the wife of baseball player Justin Verlander, Upton rarely posts photos of her in swimwear, but just posted a stunning new bathing suit photo of herself lounging in an outdoor pool. She captioned the post, “Mentally I’m here.” How does she stay so fit? 1. She Avoids Gluten

One of Upton’s personal trainers, David Kirsch, disclosed some of the model’s diet and exercise secrets to ELLE. Kirsch says that when it comes to Upton’s diet, she cuts out a few major foods, and is inspired by a gluten-free diet. "It's sugar, alcohol, and processed carbs that we avoid. I don't have her on a specifically gluten-free diet, but by the nature of what she eats, it is gluten free."

2. She Circuit Trains

Vogue + Canada Goose + Polar Bears International Screening & PanelAmy Sussman/Getty Images

Kirsch also broke down Upton’s fitness routine to ELLE. "We do extreme, intense circuit training,” he said. “We do three or four circuits and change them up a lot. There's lots of core, butt, and thigh shaping and toning. We work with resistance bands, stability balls, do lateral lunges for the inner thighs, and for arms we do boxing. She has her own pair of boxing gloves, and she will beat me up. She loves it! It's a very efficient way to work out and get your cardio in."

3. She Doesn’t Own A Scale

While it may seem like Upton has the perfect body and weight, she says that she doesn’t exercise to get to a certain number on the scale. In fact, she told Yahoo Style, that she doesn’t even own a scale, and sets goals to where she is happy with her body. “I’m not trying to be fit for a number on a scale," she says. "Whenever I’m happiest, I try to maintain that. I don’t need a number.”

4. She Works Hard

Kate Upton Leads Strong4Me Workout EventGetty Images

Upton’s other trainer, Ben Bruno, gushed over the model in an interview with E! News. He praised Upton’s work ethic and persistence. “Her progress has been amazing. She trains harder than just about any client I've ever had. I've trained a lot of athletes and Kate trains as hard as anybody. She's very dedicated, works hard and the other part too that kind of goes hand in hand with what we do in the gym is that she's got her eating on track. She's very disciplined with her eating. She's been great about limiting sugar."

5. She Indulges Only Once In A While

ITALY-CINEMA-VENICE-FILM-FESTIVAL-MOSTRAALBERTO PIZZOLI/AFP via Getty Images

Bruno said that while Upton eats healthy, she isn’t afraid to indulge once in a while. He says that she does enjoy herself at times, but always goes back to eating healthy. "She eats very well most of the time. Sometimes she splurges and when she does she just picks back up and keeps going. She eats treats but it's just about moderation…I don't want people thinking it's a diet. I want them to think it's a lifestyle."

1. She Golfs

Katie’s main form of fitness is golfing. “Golf date?” she captioned a post. Why should you consider picking up a club? A comprehensive review published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that golf's health benefits are extensive, including mind, body, and even lifespan. Benefits include improved longevity, decreased risk of developing heart disease or suffering a stroke, good mental health, and improved strength and balance.

2. She Wake Surfs

Katie recently started wake surfing, also called wake boarding. She captioned this post: “teach me how to wake surf.” According to the Australian government’s Better Health, surfing, which is similar to wake boarding minus the paddling, provides many health benefits including cardiovascular fitness, and leg and core strength. “Once you’re standing up on the board, strong legs and a strong core will keep you up,” they say.

3. She Jet Skis

Katie also enjoys jet skiing. “Be my travel buddy,” she captioned a photo of herself out in the water. According to Health Fitness Revolution, the average 150-pound rider will burn a surprising 238 calories during a half-hour ride. The sport is also great for cardiovascular endurance.

4. She Soaks in the Hot Tub

Katie loves soaking in hot water. “You’ll find me here,” she captioned a post. How can soaking in the hot tub, similar to baths do your body and mind good? It has been linked to better sleep and even found helpful to minimize anxiety and depression. One recent study even found that it may even boast cardiovascular benefits.

5. She Snow Boards

Katie also enjoys snow boarding. “Learned my lesson from last year,” she joked in this photo, wearing a swimsuit while on the slopes. According to the University of Rochester, snowboarding, like skiing, is a great cardiovascular workout. “Because they are also weight-bearing exercises, they strengthen your bones as they tone your muscles,” they say. “Cardiovascular or aerobic exercises also work to reduce your risk for chronic diseases, and lower blood pressure. They also help you maintain a healthy body weight. Through regular aerobic exercise like skiing and snowboarding, you lower your risk of developing conditions like diabetes and heart disease, having a stroke, and perhaps even getting cancer.”

6. She Works Out

Katie also relies on good old-fashioned exercise to keep her in shape. Physical activity is anything that gets your body moving. Each week adults need 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity and 2 days of muscle-strengthening activity, according to the current Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans.

Water Skiing

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Morning Workouts

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Self-Care

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

We are committed to bringing you researched, expert-driven content to help you make more informed decisions around food, health, and wellness. We know how important making choices about your overall health is, and we strive to provide you with the best information possible.

Mariana Morais is showing off her ab-fab figure – in a two-piece exercise set. In a new social media post, the fitness influencer flaunts her fantastic figure in a brown sports bra and leggings. “Self Progress & Development is not always linear. Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. It’s you VS you - continue to try, focus on consistency > perfection & you will prevail 🤎 rooting for us all to strengthen our mind & bodies this year,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Pilates

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.
