1. She Exercises Moderately
In a YouTube video with her trainer, Katee explained how she changes up her routine depending on current tole. For example, while playing Lieutenant Kara “Starbuck” Thrace on Battlestar Galactica she had a more relaxed approach to diet and exercise. “Part of the reason I didn’t want to change [Starbuck’s] body from my own was because she and I were very similar in that sense. She drank a lot and smoked cigars. This is not a person who is like the epitome of staying in shape … She wasn’t eating salad,” she said.

While portraying Dahl in the sci-fi action film Riddick, Sackhoff, who stands at five-feet, six-inches tall, revealed, “I was 160 pounds in that movie. I wanted Dahl to look like a badass. Then they started hiring all of these men that were huge … No matter how big I get, I’m going to look like a peanut next to Dave Batista.” For this reason, she decided to replace her calorie-burning, slimming routine with heavy-weight training to “get as jacked as possible.” She also ate large quantities of food, especially eggs, and worked up to curling 35 pounds. “I was huge—for me,” Sackhoff recalls.
3. She Runs
For her role in Longmire as Deputy Sheriff Victoria “Vic” Moretti she traded in the gym for running shoes. “Vic is very sensual; Vic is curvier than me now; Vic is a little softer,” she explains. “In my mind, she’s the type of person that probably goes for runs, but she’s not really lifting weights that much. She had brothers so she’s probably pretty physically capable and active, but she’s not going to the gym.”
4. She Drinks Coffee
Katee loves starting her morning with coffee. “Early morning press day in the Big Apple 🍎Mama needs coffee 😬☕️ #justwokeup,” she captioned a post. A 2022 study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology found that drinking two to three cups a day of most types of coffee – especially a mild to moderate intake of ground, instant, and decaffeinated coffee – may protect you from cardiovascular disease and an early death.
5. She Takes Baths
Katee also takes baths. How can baths do your body and mind good? They have been linked to better sleep and even found helpful to minimize anxiety and depression. One recent study even found that they may even boast cardiovascular benefits.
6. She Takes Saunas
Katee also loves taking saunas. “It quickly became my favorite place to memorize dialogue and relax after work. So many of you asked me why we invested in an at home sauna. First and foremost I love heat 😂 I’m like a crazy person and the hotter it is the more at peace I feel ( I’m from the PNW and think my body just boycotted 😜) but truthfully it’s for the health benefits. I live pretty hard and fast, always have. My body has taken a beating and as I get older I’m more focused on recovery in order to allow my physical frame to keep up with my spiritual one,” she said about the practice.
