"I eat very healthy all year round," says Kelly. "Cooking healthy, nutritious and delicious meals is one of my biggest passions so eating "healthy" for me isn't 'eating healthy', it's just eating. I've never actually known anything other than nutritious foods," she continues. "I've grown up with a mother who is a doctor, dentist and cancer researcher who also happens to be an amazing cook," she said.  Kelly says that while she was growing up, her mom always made her and her brothers healthy meals similar to what she eats today. One yummy treat tip from her: "Freeze your fruit and then blend it and then eat that with almond butter or any kind of nut butter and top it with coconut flakes. It tastes like you're eating dessert, but it's healthy."

When Kelly is preparing for an important shoot or fashion show, she starts watching the salt and sugar more than usual. This "means cutting out sodium. I try to stay away from all kinds of sugars except for the sugars I get from the berries in my breakfast and coconut sugar from the occasional raw vegan chocolate bar that I eat." She continues on to say, "my lunch and dinner meals before the show include lots of vegetables and lean protein such as shrimps, scallops, egg whites, turkey breast and white fish."

She Sips a Morning Tonic

In the morning, especially when prepping for a show or shoot, Gale likes to have what she calls her morning tonic. This includes "cold water mixed with 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, juice of 1 lemon, cayenne and cinnamon. Then I'll go for my workout," she says. According to the Cleveland Clinic, starting the day with lemon water can have so many wonderful health benefits when it comes to weight loss, digestion, oxidation, staying hydrated, provides you with vitamin C, gives you a boost of potassium, and can help to prevent kidney stones.

With the busy schedules, celebrities could easily say they don't have time for workouts, but that's simply not the case. There's always time for your health, especially your mental health. "I meditate every morning, every evening and basically any time of the day when I feel like I need it," Kelly said. "If I'm out walking I might do a 30 minute walking meditation." She also tries to make time for a little bit of yoga a couple nights a week before bed. "I have a massage therapist that comes to my apartment every evening and works wonders on my body as well. I'm a big fan of cryotherapy and infrared saunas."

Diet plays a huge role in her life and her weight loss journey, but exercise is just as important. She loves to switch things up trying new little things here and there. Gale really enjoys "resistance bands, gliders, ankle weights and jump rope. Using the jump rope for cardio intervals during a session of pilates is my favourite."
