She Works With A Trainer
Kit Rich, Kesha's trainer, has said, "Kesha loves a challenge! I switch it up all the time. Today, we did a 24Â minute TabataÂ-inspired routine that only focused on arms using 10Â-pound weights, an eight-Âpound ball and a resistance band. So she did a total of six exercises for four minutes each (20 seconds on, 10 seconds off). Then for the second half, we did Pilates that mainly focused on her core," she continued. "She is becoming a master at the wunda chair. That woman has strength! A real athlete. The routine was hard but simple, and she was sweating. She loved it."
She Had To Relearn Healthy Habits
After battling an eating disorder, it can take time to learn healthy habits again. Rebuilding healthy habits when it comes to eating have to be adjusted for each individual based on their recovery after an eating disorder. "For some, the process needs to be slow by first introducing foods they deem safe, then introducing more challenging foods," says Becky Mehr, M.S., R.D.N., L.D.N., dietitian at The Renfrew Center of Tennessee.
She Loves Pilates and Weight Training
Kit Rich says Kesha enjoys a mix of Pilates and weight training. "Kesha and I do a mixture of weight training and Pilates moves to get that booty. I incorporate squats with weights, plyometrics, and lunges," says Kit Rich. "I get creative by using a lot of variations. Then I do moves on the Pilates machines such as the reformer or Cadillac to target her booty. The lunges, squats, and plyo not only target her glutes, hamstrings, and quads, but help boost her heart rate and metabolism. The Pilates moves help with specificity to target and shape the backside."Â
She Overcame An Eating Disorder
She battled a really serious eating disorder where she got to a point where she didn't even know how to eat. After a lot of hard work and support from her family, she said it finally clicked with her what she had battled when she was speaking to a friend in the Hollywood industry. "He was like, 'Congratulations to you,'" she said, "And I was like, 'For what?' And he was like, 'Who cares about my Grammys? You just saved your f—ing life.' And I just was blown away by that, because it made me look at the whole thing totally differently." Kesha said to Rolling Stone, "Oh, wait. I did just take my life into my own hands and choose life over a slow, painful, shameful self-imposed death."
She Does Weight Training
Weight training is perfect for building muscle and strength. "My type of workout creates a long and lean looking athlete. I want women to feel powerful, empowered, and energized," said Kit Rich. "With Kesha, I've noticed such an improvement in strength. With Pilates, she has improved quickly. The moves are very intricate and specific, and she really loves it. She requests it every time she comes."
