She Trains with a Bodybuilder
Kim got into the best shape of her life after hiring bodybuilder Melissa Alcantara. "I've been working out really hardcore with a bodybuilder for one year. September is our one-year anniversary," Kim told E! News in 2018, via People. Ever since, the duo have been lifting "heavy weights," per Kim with Alcantara adding to Women's Health that 85% of their training is done with weights and just 15% is cardio.
She Moves Every Day
"I work out about an hour-and-a-half every single day," Kim told E! News. Alcantara revealed to Women's Health that the duo train together six days a week for 60 to 90 minutes.
She Has a "No Excuses" Policy
Alcantara explained to People in 2020 that Kim doesn't make excuses to skip workouts. "Just like anybody else, there are days where Kim's not really feeling it, but she will do it," she said. "Then there are a lot of days when she's killing it! She never questions the stuff that I make her do, she's just like, 'Okay,' and I love that."
She Sprints
While Kim isn't big into cardio, in 2021 she revealed on Instagram that she added treadmill sprints to her routine. "Been sprinting every day!" she wrote in one of her Instagram Stories. "I've been seeing changes!"
She Maintains a Very Plant-Based Diet
Kim famously shed weight on the Atkins diet, but now eats primarily plants. "Plant based and two workouts a day for 30 days to get our mind and body right this year!" Kim revealed in a January 2021 Instagram post.
She Preps for Workouts the Night Before
Some people food prep, but Kim does the same for her workouts to ensure she will be ready to rock. "I will lay my clothes out the night before so when I sleep in, I'll wake up at 5.53[am] instead of 5.45, and I just know my outfit is there," Kshe said. "I have a toothbrush and my toothpaste all ready to go, laid out by my sink. I just have to brush my teeth and go to the gym."
She Fuels Up Before and After Workouts
Kim is very cognizant about what she puts into her body when she is training. "My trainer Mel always says that before and after you train, you should eat simple carbs, like sweet potatoes, and small amounts of fat and protein, like chicken. You should also have veggies with your meals, since you need them to help effectively break down and absorb your protein, fat, and carbs," she explained on her paid app in 2018, per Harper's Bazaar.
She Does LISS Workouts
Alcantara has Kim do LISS workouts. "Two days out of the week we'll do steady-state cardio," she told WH, "so just walking at a steady pace on the treadmill for usually around 20 minutes. Nothing getting the heart rate too high."
She Avoids Processed Food
Kim tries to stay away from anything processed. "I want her to eat real food that's cooked every day," Alcantara told People. "Most likely if it comes out of a box, it's not going to be good for you."
She Writes Down Goals
"When I work with Kim, we like to set goals that we can feel good about reaching," Alcantara revealed to WH. "Once we have a goal set, we write it down. I've found that helps hold you accountable. And, it feels amazing when you do finally reach your goal!"
