Álvarez works out with trainer Iñaky García, who she says holds her accountable. "He is realistic and positive, and he has changed my body and my emotional state,” she says. “Thanks to him, every time I face a challenge I do it with strength. I think that if I have beaten myself in the gym and come out alive, I can handle everything."
2. Strength and Cardio

Álvarez’s workout routine is a mix of different exercises. “Lara has, depending on her schedule and the days that we can train, a certain routine,” García says. “Based on global exercises that involve many muscle groups at once. We mix strength exercises and cardiovascular routines.”
3. Boxing Workouts

Álvarez finds boxing workouts to be therapeutic and help focus her mind. “The only moment in which I can truly disconnect is the hour and a half that I dedicate to myself,” she says. “At first I chose fitness routines on my own, especially with machines in the gym. And I kept spinning in my head, I wasn't listening to the music or concentrating on anything. Boxing got me focused... It has helped me so much that instead of a routine it has now become a necessity. It is what makes that for my head there is only the specific objective of that moment.”
4. Healthy Breakfast

Álvarez enjoys a healthy breakfast every day to fuel her workouts. "I have an orange juice , two whole wheat toasts, two slices of turkey, tomato, a handful of nuts, a piece of fruit and a coffee with milk,” she says. “After two hours I have one or two pieces of fruit.”
5. Meditation Every Day
Álvarez meditates every day, and emphasizes the importance of taking care of both mental and physical health. “The part of self-knowledge completes all this, that we talk about nutrition, exercise, the soul... We are a whole,” she says. “What we eat. What we feel. What we say. Everything is connected in a very deep way. The part of how you talk to yourself and how you approach what surrounds you also marks your health. If you are not mentally well, the body physically does not work no matter how much you want to pull it. I believe that the success of good health is to have it inside and out.”
