1. She Loves Seafood
Anderson loves seafood dishes, especially shellfish. “Shellfish – especially crustaceans – are high in amino acids, known as the ‘building blocks’ of protein as we need them for growth and repair and the synthesis of hormones and neurotransmitters,” says registered nutritionist Nicola Shubrook. “Certain shellfish are high in carotenoids, including beta-carotene that converts to vitamin A when consumed. Carotenoids are powerful antioxidants – vitamin A in particular is needed for healthy immunity.”
2. She Loves To Dance
Anderson walks to places as much as she can, and loves to dance. “I’ve danced and pretty much walked anywhere since I was young, and I carry that on now,” she says. “I love walking my dog and going for runs to get my daily steps up. I eventually succumbed to an Apple Watch and now really notice a difference in my motivation now I can track my steps. I try to book fitness classes with friends, too, as I enjoy working out more if I’ve someone to moan with.”
3. She Has a Balanced Diet
Anderson loves her carbs, but tries to stay mindful of them. “I’m obsessed with cereal and pasta! Obviously, I can’t eat those every day because I don’t currently reside in heaven,” she says. “Luckily there’s fewer naughty temptations living in the heat, so I’m more inclined to choose a salad over pie and chips. Lunch was Chicken Shawarma, which is a wrap with spiced chicken and chips in it. I picked at some chocolate, then Dane made us prawn and chorizo tagliatelle. I may have also slipped in two glasses of red just to end a beautiful day.”
4. Poached Eggs On Toast
Anderson’s go-to breakfast is poached eggs on toast. “As we age it's normal for our vision to start to deteriorate but there are some useful nutrients, obtained from a balanced diet, which may help support eye health,” says registered nutritionist Jo Lewin. “Eggs are one example of an eye-friendly food. The yolk contains large amounts of carotenes, of particular note are lutein and zeaxanthin, which are important for preventing macular degeneration and cataracts. Eggs are also a source of vitamin A which is key for good eyesight.”
5. Tea Every Morning
Anderson can’t start her day without a cup of tea at 7am. “Observational research has found that tea consumption of 2-3 cups daily is associated with a reduced risk of premature death, heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes,” says the Harvard T. H. Chan School Of Public Health.
