Laverne Cox is in vacay mode in her Gucci swimsuit! The Orange Is the New Black star flaunts her incredibly fit figure while vacationing in the tropics in a few of her latest social media posts. “Refresh, revive, renew!!!” she captioned one. “It's not me!! I am not the problem!!!! It's not me!!! Darn it!!!” she wrote about another. How does the actress and activist stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Laverne Cox stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She Promotes Inclusivity in Fitness

Hammer Museum's 18th Annual Gala In The GardenEmma McIntyre/Getty Images

Cox explained to InStyle that she believes every single person has the right to work out and feel comfortable doing so. "I've talked to trans folks who haven't felt comfortable at a certain gym. They don't feel like [the gym is] inclusive or they're not supported, they're singled out, or harassed there. So having this space be inclusive for people of color or LGBTQ folks, is crucial," she said.

2. She Dabbled in Veganism

In 2017, Cox went vegan for a short period of time. “Found out today that @rubyrose and I are both Vegans. It's only been 12 weeks for me but I feel so much better,” she wrote on Instagram. Four months into her plant-based diet she learned she had a soy sensitivity. She then started incorporating fish into her mostly plant-based diet.

3. She Is Motivated By Others

Celebrity Sightings In New York City - September 28, 2022James Devaney/GC Images

During her InStyle interview Laverne revealed that she was inspired by the man she was dating. "He's in incredible shape, and he'll send me videos of him working out, and he boxes. He's really committed to working out, so I'm going to get it together," she said.

4. She Does Therapy

Laverne is a huge proponent of therapy. “When you have trauma, eventually it needs to be reprocessed. What I'm working on with my therapist now is building up my resourcing, so that when it's time to reprocess the trauma, it's not re-traumatizing. You don't want to flood yourself revisiting that trauma because that can keep you from healing—you have to go slowly. My therapist defines trauma as too much too fast, or too little for too long,” she told Health.

5. She Doesn’t Like to Exercise

“I started dance classes again and it's so much fun. I hate working out, so getting in a rhythm has been a struggle,” Laverne confessed to Health. “When I go to the gym, it becomes goal-oriented and not process-oriented. When I start thinking about the results, it's not a good space for me to be in. I'm better when I focus on the journey. I want to turn 50 and be healthy. That's part of the reason I started dance classes again. I want to feel good in my body, mind, and spirit.”

1. She Dances

Cox posts a lot of videos of her dancing on Instagram, and is open about her love and experience with dancing. Cox has dance experience and previously worked as a drag performer before making it as an actress. In this video, Cox is seen dancing in heels, and she captioned the post, “Oh I haven't been dancing and definitely not dancing in heels lately. It felt good this day to do a little two step. I definitely need to work my stamina back up and find my full groove again. I'm forever a work in progress. And you definitely need to swipe for that third slide. Shout out to @nicolescherzinger for the inspiration.”

2. She Swims A Lot

Cox loves to swim and posts a lot of photos and videos of herself enjoying time in the pool. Cox posted this reel of herself enjoying the pool with the caption, “Vacation’s all I ever wanted.” Cox revealed in The New York Times that she doesn’t just swim on vacation. “I just moved into a condo, and we have a pool. It’s one of my main reasons for moving here, so I can swim.”

Cox revealed her diet in an interview with The New York Times. She says that she tries to eat healthy, and avoids some specific foods. She states, “Meat, sugar and dairy are all really bad for my skin. I avoid gluten.”

4. She Was Previously Vegan & Eats Pescatarian

In 2017, Cox revealed on Instagram that she was trying a vegan diet. “It’s only been 12 weeks for me, but I feel so much better,” she said at the time. However, she revealed in a New York Times piece the following year that she was no longer vegan. “I was vegan for four months last year, but then I did a food sensitivity blood work panel and found out I’m sensitive to soy. If you’re vegan and can’t eat soy, it gets real tricky.” Cox later says that she has decided to adopt a pescatarian diet, and avoids gluten. “I started eating fish again. I’m basically a gluten-free pescatarian, and then I go in and out of sugar and carbs.”

5. She Takes Care Of Herself

Cox is open about practicing self-love and acceptance. In a recent Instagram post, Cox revealed that her mental state hasn’t always been great recently, that the pressures of social media are affecting her, and that she’s working on herself. She wrote, “I have to practice feeling free. The shame, the self judgement, the perfectionism are so hardwired I have to practice freeing myself of those things and creating new wiring in my nervous system daily. I carefully curate what I post here and I am very particular about how I look. At a photoshoot yesterday I picked myself apart in vicious, brutal ways. I said these things jokingly on set out loud for the entire set to hear them. Even jokingly this negative picking myself apart took a toll on me.” She continued, “It's important to note that I know I get messages and comments from all of you everyday telling me how beautiful I am. Thank you! Some days I'm able to receive it and truly believe you. Other days I just can't receive it. My therapist Jennifer Burton Flier recently said on my podcast that we are teflon for the positive and velcro for the negative. A day at a time all I can do is try to rewrite the story I'm telling myself so that a more resilient body replaces the shame and trauma body that's so deeply hardwired. I'm making progress. The fact that I had that aha moment in the car on the way home is a sign that my body is becoming more and more intolerant to abusive treatment. I wouldn't allow it from anyone else. That's progress. Now it's time to not allow it from myself, a day at a time.”

American Pickers star Danielle Colby is sharing one of her favorite hobbies with fans: underwater swimming. Colby posted a photo of herself along with a quote by David Lynch, looking serene in a two piece swimsuit. “Meditation is to dive all the way within, beyond thought, to the source of thought and pure consciousness. It enlarges the container, every time you transcend. When you come out, you come out refreshed, filled with energy and enthusiasm for life,” she captioned the post. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Colby stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She Loves To Swim

Colby is an accomplished underwater swimmer. "Every time I go for a swim I feel like the earth and my incredible swim colleagues have enabled me to have experienced something pretty amazing," says Dr Jenny Martin, a physician and clinical pharmacologist at the University of Newcastle. "You get a release of hormones that make you feel good, like the molecules that are in morphine drugs, and other feel-good hormones like serotonin, dopamine. After an ocean swim in winter, you sometimes get a temporary natural high when you get out … definitely a euphoric feeling."

2. Paddle Boarding

Colby shares her adventures with paddle boarding on her social media. “I had a breakthrough today with @rinconpaddleboards I have never been able to root myself properly for longer duration. I could get up but it didn’t last long,” she says. “Damiano took the time during our private lesson to break down every detail of what’s happening on the board, in the water and in my body and how to respond for more stability. I have a long way to go and needs to stay lower and work on arm placement but I felt so happy with today’s lesson🎉 I always Learn so much.”

3. She’s a Dancer

Colby is a professional dancer, something she says changed her life from day one. “I discovered Burlesque in Chicago quite some time ago, years and years ago- I was addicted from the first show,” she says. “There’s something very empowering about Burlesque. I started learning right away, I started performing way too soon! There’s some great video footage to prove that. But it’s all been a really fun journey, even watching old videos, it’s cool to see how much more at ease I am with myself and with my audience. But it’s funny, I have maintained the same lumbering stance since I started. There’s nothing delicate about me on stage, I just throw my guts out there and then I walk away and let people sort out what they saw.”

4. Mental Health and Confidence

Colby says giving back to the community is one of the best ways to gain happiness and confidence. “My advice, for what it’s worth… If you’re trying to gain or regain confidence, don’t do it through Burlesque,” she says. “Help in your community, educate yourself, travel, find where your real strength lies.”

5. Embracing Her Unique Looks

Colby is famous for her many tattoos, something she considers a “storyline” for her life. “I don’t think I took collecting tattoos seriously at first,” she says. “I mean my first tattoo was an LBT tribal tramp stamp of a butterfly…Ha! I have definitely acquired some more impressive tattoos since then but I collect them for the story. I’m not afraid of people judging the work I have on my body, it’s a storyline for myself. I love it when my friends work on me, I love to collect the memories, I cannot have an artist work on me that I don’t feel close with. I have to feel a sense of kinship I’ve been very fortunate to find that across-the-board with my tattoo artists.”

Leonie Hanne is living her best life in Thailand – in her swimsuit. In a new social media post, the German model flaunts her fantastic figure in a $750 Missoni bathing suit while enjoying a boating day in the tropics. “She dreamed of a tropical adventure 🦋,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. “Stunning,” commented one of her followers. ”So beautiful,” added another. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Coffee

Leonie enjoys the perks of caffeine. In one of her posts from Thailand, she drinks a cup of coffee at the poolside. According to the Cleveland Clinic, drinking coffee in moderation has several benefits. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.

Pilates

Leonie does Pilates at the super exclusive London studio Pilates in the Clouds. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress, and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

At-Home Workouts

Leonie tries to get a workout in daily, preferably in the morning. I still try to get up early to maintain a sense of routine. I start every day with a quick at-home workout and a homemade acai bowl, before starting work on emails and content creation. I’ve been getting really into TikTok lately, it’s funny and keeps me feeling energised!” she told Arcadia.

Community

It takes a village, according to Leonie. “Community is key! The people you surround yourself with are more important than ever, as we are all trying to find ways to stay connected without being physically present. Speaking to people either on the phone or through social media can shift your mindset and motivation more than ever before,” she says.

Small, Healthy Habits

Leonie focuses on maintaining small, healthy habits. “Do something every day that brings you joy. Even if that means having something small to look forward to, like having your favourite snacks around the house or changing into an outfit that makes you feel good about yourself,” she says.

Sophie Piper is embracing island life – in her swimsuit. In a new social media post, the Love Island beauty shows off her fantastic figure in a swimsuit during a tropical vacation at Kandima Maldives with Josh Ritchie. “Island life,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps taken at the picturesque resort. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

She Doesn't Go Under the Knife

Sophie claims she hasn’t gone under the knife. “It’s your own body, you can do what you want to,” she told Grazia, weighing in on the show’s reputation for girls getting work done. “I wouldn’t have surgery myself; I don’t want it. I’ve got such a low pain tolerance as well; I’d be squirming around.”

She Gets Her Steps In

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Sophie loves paddle boarding. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) agrees that paddle boarding is great for the core and cardio. Water sports can burn an average of 385 calories for a 140-pound male and 436 calories for a female of the same size, per a study conducted by Arizona State University.

She Skis

When Sophie hits the mountains, she throws on a pair of skis. “Ski club,” she captioned a photo. Research has linked downhill skiing to several health benefits. In addition to promoting physical fitness, it may decrease the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Studies have also found that the more frequently a person skis, the prevalence of known hypercholesterolemia, systemic hypertension, diabetes, the frequency of mental stress, and the occurrence of memory deficits decline.

She Loves Group Fitness

“You’ve got to be body confident,” Sophie told Grazia. One of her favorite sweat methods? Group fitness. “A few gym classes can’t hurt,” she said.

She Goes Snorkeling

On her recent Maldives vacation, Sophie and Josh snorkeled in the crystal clear water. Surprisingly, putting on a snorkel and fins and swimming through the water is a great workout. In addition to being a great aerobic exercise and burning calories, other health benefits may include improved cardiovascular function, stress reduction, mood enhancement, and muscular toning.

Tammy Hembrow is a fitness influencer and expert. She has her own app, called Tammy Fit. Hembrow has a lot of challenges on her app. Recently, she advertised a challenge with a workout video on Instagram. Hembrow captioned the post, “We are 3 days into our first @tammyfitapp challenge of the year & I am more motivated than everrrrr. (Sign ups are still open if you haven’t joined yet - there’s still time to catch up!! - link in bio). Soooo happy seeing so many of my girlies (and guys) in this challenge doing it with me!! And I CANNOT wait to see everyone’s results at the end of the 8 weeks. We got thissss 💪🏼”

She Does Pulldowns

Hembrow is seen doing pulldowns in her Instagram video. Piedmont reports that pulldowns have a lot of benefits. “The lat pulldown is a fantastic exercise for strengthening the latissimus dorsi muscle, the broadest muscle in your back. This muscle promotes good posture and spinal stability. Form is crucial when performing a lat pulldown to prevent injury and reap the best results.”

She Lifts Weights

Tammy Hebrew is seen using dumbbells.

Tammy Hebrew/Instagram

Hembrow is seen doing a lot of exercises with weights in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness states that using weights to workout has a lot of benefits. “Strength training with heavy weights improves muscle definition. Muscle definition occurs as the result of muscles remaining in a state of semi-contraction and heavy strength training recruits the larger type II muscle fibers responsible for a muscle’s appearance.”

She Tracks Her Meals

Hembrow likes to track her meals on her app. She talked about the benefits of this in the caption of this “What I Eat In A Day” Instagram video. “Make sure to take advantage of the calorie/macro tracking features in the @tammyfitapp during this challenge guys. It can be really helpful in reaching specific goals quicker. And it also can help educate you on your food choices when it comes to nutrition, ratios, hidden calories, overeating or under eating etc. honestly I’d recommend any beginner try it out just to get a good feel for how you’re fuelling your body!! I feel like when people think of ‘meal tracking’ it can be seen as something that seems restrictive or something only bodybuilders do. When in reality it can be such a helpful tool and you can learn things that will actually encourage long term habits 🫶🏼🫶🏼”

She Loves Bananas

Tammy Hebrew has a banana snack.

Tammy Hebrew/Instagram

Hembrow is seen enjoying bananas in her “What I Eat In A Day” Instagram video. The Cleveland Clinic states that bananas have a lot of benefits. “A single medium-sized banana offers about 32 mg of the mineral magnesium, which fulfills around 8% to 10% of your daily magnesium requirement. Magnesium is involved in many processes in your body, including: Blood pressure. Blood sugar levels. Building proteins. Maintaining bone. Muscle function. Nerve function.”

She Loves Cottage Cheese

Tammy Hebrew's snack the contains banana and cottage cheese.

Tammy Hebrew/Instagram

Hembrow is seen enjoying her bananas with cottage cheese in the previous Instagram video. Cottage cheese is very healthy. UCLA Health reports, “Cottage cheese’s protein content and low calories make it an ideal food for weight management. Research shows that whether you are trying to lose weight or reduce your risk of overweight or obesity, eating a high-protein diet can help you feel full and satisfied for longer.”
