1. Intermittent Fasting

Gutierrez doesn’t diet, but finds intermittent fasting is an ideal tool to support her lifestyle and avoid restrictive routines. “I don't workout but I do practice intermittent fasting so I try to eat from 12 noon-6pm only,” she says. “I eat whatever I want pretty much, just in controlled portions.”

2. Walking and Swimming

Gutierrez prefers gentle, low-impact exercises to stay fit and healthy. “I try staying active through other things like walking around my village or swimming,” she says. “Just find a type of exercise that suits you, it doesn't have to be super high-intensity if that's not your comfort zone.”

3. Tasty Snack

Gutierrez loves snacking on cheese, bread, and olives. Olives have many health benefits, experts say. “Olives do what you want a snack to do: They’re good for your health and keep hunger at bay until your next meal,” says Devon Peart, MHSc, BASc, RD.

4. Salmon and Vegetables

Grilled salmon and green vegetables is one of Gutierrez’s go-to lunches. “Salmon contains omega-3 fatty acids — a type of fat that makes your blood less likely to form clots that may cause heart attacks,” says the Mayo Clinic. “In addition to containing omega-3s, salmon is low in saturated fat and cholesterol and is a good source of protein.”

5. Yoga

Gutierrez loves outdoor morning yoga sessions by the beach. “Surveys have found that those who practiced yoga were more aware of their bodies than people who didn't practice yoga,” according to Harvard Health. “They were also more satisfied with and less critical of their bodies. For these reasons, yoga has become an integral part in the treatment of eating disorders and programs that promote positive body image and self-esteem.”
