Nyong’o has amazing skin. She revealed some of her tips to Vogue. Nyong’o says that she doesn’t have one set routine. She adjusts based on her skin’s condition. “Mostly, I listen to my skin. In the morning I’ll check and see: ‘Does my skin feel overly dry? Is it irritated?’ And then I will adjust my routine based on that.”

When it comes to skincare, Nyong’o doesn’t over-complicate it. “I try – I need – to keep it simple,” she says to Vogue. “I sometimes do a facial massage just to get the blood going. Then I do a soapless wash or a cleansing wash depending on how my skin feels. The cleanser I like is Lancôme’s Miel-en-Mousse foaming cleanser. I like it because it has this warming effect. I have no idea how it happens, but it kind of warms as it lathers and as you rub it into your skin. Then I will use a Génifique mask or serum, depending on how thirsty my skin is. I’ll finish it off with calendula ointment…it’s something that is therapeutic for my skin, and a moisturizer like Lancôme’s Absolue Precious Cells or Rénergie Day, if I want an added layer of moisture.

Nyong’o has a busy schedule, however, she always makes time for herself. She revealed her favorite self-care routines to Vogue. “I do love full body treatments—massages and baths, like a Moroccan hammam bath. I like soaking in bathing salts as well. For massage, I love a head and face massage to help with circulation. And I do enjoy an at-home moisturizing face mask. I really like the Génifique Hydrogel Melting Face Mask; it’s very, very good. I use it on planes a lot because that’s where you get really dry. It really helps to replenish moisture.”

Nyong’o opened up about the best advice she’s received to Vogue. “My friend Liesl Tommy told me this wisdom from her grandmother: ‘Begin as you intend to proceed.’,” she says. “And that has really resonated with me over the last year in terms of checking in with myself at the beginning of the day, or when considering a new project or a new relationship of any kind, professional or personal. It’s a reminder to set an intention and consider what attitude I would like to have at the end of whatever activity it is, and ensure that I start with that attitude.”

It was different and I really enjoyed it because I'm so used to being in studio so the change of scene and pace was amazing. Even how I embodied the character was amazing. The production went all out to ensure we had the necessary training. Because my character was a boxer so I went for training which was really dope,” she told Times Live. Harvard Health maintains that boxing is a great way to build strength, improve balance, posture, hand-eye coordination, boost mood and endurance, and helps increase alertness.

After getting written off Scandal!, Nomvelo opened up about the “toxic” working environment which almost led her to take her own life. “I’ve been the one that’s been catching all the f*cken smoke … It wasn’t me guys, it wasn’t my choice. They wrote me off, that’s the truth … It was God’s plan though, I’m going to tell you that for real,” she said. “I’ve been praying … I’ve been wanting to leave that place … For me it was something I had really been praying about so when it finally happened it really felt like God was removing me from the toxic environment. I probably would have killed myself. There was a 90% chance. That’s how toxic that place was.”

Novelo joined superstar Thuso Mbedu for warrior training in Johannesburg. “I had to train like a warrior today and I am excited for The Woman King and for the cast that is here,” she told Sowetan Live. "I did some kicks and I definitely enjoyed myself in the company of Thuso. It was an amazing experience to come together as creatives, especially after Covid-19.”

Nomvelo does serious strength and weight training. In one TikTok she does walking lunges with heavy weights, box jumps, and push ups. Each week adults need 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity and 2 days of muscle-strengthening activity, according to the current Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans.

5. She Dances

Nomvelo loves to dance. You can find her showing off her moves on TikTok. Dancing is a great workout for many reasons. Not only does it build strength and promote flexibility, but helps you lose weight and even promotes cardiovascular function. A 2016 study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine determined that people who engaged in moderate-intensity dancing were 46 percent less likely to develop heart disease or die from it than non-dancers. In comparison, moderate-intensity walkers were just 25 percent less likely to suffer heart health issues.

Leonie tries to get a workout in daily, preferably in the morning. I still try to get up early to maintain a sense of routine. I start every day with a quick at-home workout and a homemade acai bowl, before starting work on emails and content creation. ACE Fitness states that using weights to workout has a lot of benefits. “Strength training with heavy weights improves muscle definition. Muscle definition occurs as the result of muscles remaining in a state of semi-contraction and heavy strength training recruits the larger type II muscle fibers responsible for a muscle’s appearance.”

It can be really helpful in reaching specific goals quicker. And it also can help educate you on your food choices when it comes to nutrition, ratios, hidden calories, overeating or under eating etc. honestly I’d recommend any beginner try it out just to get a good feel for how you’re fuelling your body!! I feel like when people think of ‘meal tracking’ it can be seen as something that seems restrictive or something only bodybuilders do.
