1. She Didn’t Give Up

Acting is a difficult career to pursue, and Cline tells Glamour that it was difficult for her to find success at first. However, Cline says that she decided to stick with it and didn’t give up, no matter how hard things got for her. “LA is a harsh city to be in when you're a little girl from the South, and you have absolutely no idea what you're doing and you are thinking, ‘Am I making, have I made a massive mistake? I don't have money to move back home. My parents are not on board with this. What do I do?’ But you have to convince yourself that, you genuinely have to believe that it's, ‘when,’ not, ‘if.’”

2. She’s Recovering From An Eating Disorder

Cline opened up about her struggles with eating disorders in an interview with Women’s Health. "I think I was around 16 when I started working out a lot," she said. "I would wake up every morning at 5 a.m. and I would work out for 30 minutes. It was super rigorous cardio every day. It turned into not feeding myself protein and not feeding my body what it needed when I was working out so much. I worked out multiple times during the day. All I knew was I wasn't achieving a particular body image, and so I was angry. I was harming myself and starving myself in the process of trying to achieve that." Cline says that she is working on her recovery from her eating disorder.

Cline tells Women’s Health that one of the ways she recovered from her eating disorder was practicing self-love. She says that her mother would do positive affirmation exercises with her. “She would stand there in the mirror with me and we would list out things that I liked about my body," Cline explained. "After that repetition those things became solidified in my mind. I like my curves, I like my hips, and after a while I started to love my body. I became so much happier."

4. She Followed Her Gut

Cline decided to drop out of college and move to LA to pursue acting. She tells Glamour that this was a risky decision, but she wanted to follow her gut. "I called my mom and said ... 'I know this is what you guys want me to do, but it's not what I want to do, so I'm going to drop out and I'm going to move out to LA and I don't need help, but I just would wish for your support,'" Cline said. "It was difficult, but we wouldn't be sitting here right now had I not followed my gut.”

Cline plays the character of Sarah on the drama series Outer Banks. The show "touches many different genres but I do love that it taps into horror a little bit but also psychological thriller because I love to see the progression of these girls as they're stuck in the wilderness—like, how it affects your mental health and the extremes that they end up going through because they've been stuck there for so long and how some friendships with the girls that were together before the plane crash, how it will affect is friendships and they'll fall apart and how other relationships will come together and some girls will grow together,” she told Sky Atlantic. “But even though it's very dark and it's very intense, there is also some lightness to it and some funny moments specially with like the older cast. I mean, I’m from New Zealand and we’re all basically apologizing for our existence with every word we speak. We’re like, ‘Aw, sorry but here’s what I think.’ My own sort of energy is not quite as direct and confident as Sophie’s, and it was something that I really loved about her and I thought, ‘This is an interesting thing to try to have Shauna be a little bit more good with eye contact, a little bit stronger, not so sort of [hunched] with her body, but a bit more confident with her body,’ because there was something in Sophie that’s like an inherent strength, which I think is really nice for the character,” she told Collider.

Although the movements appear relatively simple, squats can take time to master.
