1. She Does Intermittent Fasting

Malaika is one of the many stars who swear by time restrictive eating. “I do intermittent fasting, so I don't eat anything in the morning because my last meal is at 7-7:30 in the night,” she told Times of India. “So, I fast for about 16 to 18 hours. I start my day with a lot of liquids, which is warm water, ghee or coconut oil, in the morning. The liquid could be whatever you like--plain water, jeera water, or water with lime. I do all of that in the morning and I break my fast with nuts--walnuts and a mix of nuts that I have.”

2. She Eats a Hearty Lunch and Dinner

Malaika fuels up midday. “I have a proper full lunch, which includes a bit of carbs and good fats. I have something for snacks in the evening--a very light, healthy snack. And I have my dinner by 7 pm. So, it can be a little of everything--vegetables, or if you're a meat-eater then meat, eggs, or a bit of legumes or lentils. I divide it and make sure to try and have as wholesome a meal as possible. And that's it. I don't have anything after 7 pm,” she told Times of India.

3. She Likes to Cook Her Own Meals

Malaika eats out as little as possible to ensure she is eating healthy. “Predominantly, all my meals are home-cooked, I rarely eat out,” she told Times of India. "Preparing healthy meals at home can support your immune system and reduce the risk of illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, and diabetes," says Help Guide. "It can give you more energy, improve how you sleep at night, and help you better manage health problems."

4. She Prioritizes Fitness

Malaika makes fitness a priority. “I believe in having a routine which I choose to follow on a regular basis,” she told News 18. “I start my day with a good morning session of yoga and then I step outside to do a mix of other fitness activities as well like HIIT, walking, running, swimming and so on. Walking is a great way to improve and maintain your overall health and I make sure I do it for at least 30 minutes a day.”

5. She Is a Yogi

Malaika always starts her day off by striking a pose. “My favorite exercise is doing yoga as I always begin my day with it. I usually dedicate 60 minute in a day for exercising,” she told News 18. "Regular yoga practice may reduce levels of stress and body-wide inflammation, contributing to healthier hearts. Several of the factors contributing to heart disease, including high blood pressure and excess weight, can also be addressed through yoga," says Johns Hopkins. "Research shows that a consistent bedtime yoga routine can help you get in the right mindset and prepare your body to fall asleep and stay asleep."

6. She Loves Walking

“Walking is a risk-free form of exercise that helps you to maintain your overall health,” she told News 18 about her other go-to form of fitness. “When I feel I have put on a little weight, I feel walking is an effective way to reduce that weight and I have also seen a lot of toning in my legs and overall body while I indulge in walking as a regular fitness exercise.”

7. She Believes It’s 30 Percent Exercise and 70 Percent Diet

“For achieving a fit body and mind, I believe eating right is the best way to maintain your health. The balance should be 30 percent exercise to 70 percent diet in order to achieve the body you wish for,” Malaika believes. “If one wishes to follow a particular and strict diet, then they should always consult a doctor or a trainer and set up a diet best suited for their body.”
