She Got Through COVID By Eating Right
Arora was diagnosed with COVID in 2020 and it hit her hard. She turned to nutrition as fuel. "The only way I could keep myself fuelled was with my diet. This was when I realized it doesn't matter how much you exercise and have a fabulous body until and unless you are not fit from the inside, nothing matters," she told Zoom.
She Does Yoga
Malaika does yoga every morning. "Yoga has been shown to have significant health benefits for many patients, including the potential for a substantive antihypertensive effect," says the Mayo Clinic. "Most patients should be able to safely participate in yoga and thus benefit from the potentially salutary effects of this ancient practice." It continued: "The present issue of the Proceedings contains a systematic review and meta-analysis by Wu et al3 demonstrating that yoga practiced regularly each week can substantially reduce both systolic and diastolic blood pressure and that such reductions are augmented when yoga is combined with breathing exercises and meditation. Yoga can also improve one's overall fitness by increasing flexibility, balance, proprioception, and muscle strength."
This is Her Workout Routine
"I start my day with a good morning session of yoga and then I step outside to do a mix of other fitness activities as well like HIIT, walking, running, swimming and so on. Walking is a great way to improve and maintain your overall health and I make sure I do it for at least 30 minutes a day," she told IANSLife.
She Loves to Walk
"Walking is a risk-free form of exercise that helps you to maintain your overall health. When I feel I have put on a little weight, I feel walking is an effective way to reduce that weight and I have also seen a lot of toning in my legs and overall body while I indulge in walking as a regular fitness exercise," she told IANSLife. "Aim to walk at least five days a week. Start out warming up with a five-minute, slower paced walk. Slow your pace to cool down during the last five minutes of your walk," says the Mayo Clinic.
She Stayed Strong Despite Her Infection
"So when I was diagnosed with COVID-19 in the month of September 2020 I felt my entire world had come to a standstill. I was isolated from my family which put me in an emotional pit and the situation faced by the people around me made me even more anxious than ever. But there was one thing which kept me going – the hope that one day everything will be alright and we will all get through this tough time together," she told Zoom.
