Spanish star Mariazel is taking a break from her non-stop busy schedule to enjoy a holiday with her family. 1. She Does Lunges With Weights

Mariazel stays fit and healthy by hitting the gym. She particularly enjoys doing lunges while holding weights. “Whether you are a runner, sprinter, or multi-sport athlete, unilateral and multi-directional lunging (side, reverse, walking, diagonal, etc.) are key for improving joint mobility, coordination, and movement development,” says Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Mike Dewar. “You’ll develop a more intuitive sense of where your body is and how it moves in space that can translate nicely into whatever sport you play. The dumbbell lunge is a multi-joint exercise that builds the quadriceps, glutes, and hamstrings. Since the knees and hips flex and extend during the movement, you will train those muscle groups.”
2. She Enjoys Rowing

Mariazel likes to row outside in the sunshine and fresh air. “It’s up there in terms of burning calories,” says exercise physiologist Chris Dempers. “I’d rank it below running but above an elliptical machine,” Dempers says. “There are certain factors that affect how many calories you burn, like your speed, intensity and resistance. But it’s still a good workout no matter what.”
3. She Loves Juicing

Mariazel loves to juice every day, especially using fresh lemons. “Juice half a lemon into your water and you’ll add a mere 6 calories to your diet,” recommends internal medicine specialist Roxanne B. Sukol, MD, MS. “Plus you’ll get more than a sixth of your daily vitamin C, which is needed to protect us from cell damage and repair injury.”

An occasional red wine is Mariazel’s drink of choice. “Antioxidants in red wine called polyphenols may help protect the lining of blood vessels in the heart,” says the Mayo Clinic. “A polyphenol called resveratrol is one substance in red wine that's received attention for its health benefits.”
5. She Loves Vanilla Coffee

Coffee with vanilla creamer is a special treat for Mariazel. “Coffee has dozens of compounds that contribute to our health,” says Caroline Thomason, RD, CDCES. “Researchers recently showed that two coffee compounds, kahweol and cafestol, stopped the growth of prostate and kidney cancer cells in a laboratory study. There is mounting evidence that coffee consumption may lower the risk of certain cancers such as liver, prostate, breast, colorectal, and potentially endometrial cancer.”
