She Keeps it Simple
"I've always kept it really simple," she told Vogue about her approach to wellness "Growing up, I was interested in meditation and in grounding myself. That led to how I take care of my body in the best way." She explained that beauty starts from within, revealing that she drinks a lot of water and starts every day with a shake, consisting of apple juice, kale, ginger, avocado, strawberries, and blueberries.
She Eats "Seasonal, Local, and Organic Foods"
In another interview with Vogue, she added that "what you put into your body is even more crucial than what you're doing in terms of your exterior." She explained: "What I eat and how I connect with my body feed my external. I try to eat seasonal, local, and organic foods as much as possible, almost all the time. "
She Partakes in "Moving Meditation"
Another way she takes care of herself? "Moving meditation, like dance meditation, makes me feel at home in my skin; it helps me on a spiritual, mental, and, ultimately, physical level," she told Vogue.
She Also Does Yoga, Calisthenics, and Hikes
Marisa also partakes in other exercise methods to stay in shape. "I still hike and do calisthenics and yoga from time to time, but the cornerstone of it all is the inner stuff," she said.
She Does Infrared Saunas
Marisa has another go-to self-care method. "Lately, I have been going to the infrared sauna for detoxes, which I absolutely love," she told Vogue. "It heats up the body from the inside out, so I get a lot of energy afterward and I feel so light. It gets rid of any poisons, especially if I had to take medicine or had a lot of sugar or alcohol. It's a great place to be in and do meditation, too."
She Eats One Big Meal
"A lot of times, also, I just eat one big meal and little things throughout the day, or I'll eat like a bird for a few days and then a giant meal. A feast on the fifth day," she told New York Magazine about her eating style.
She Hula Hoops
Marisa famously got into shape for The Wrestler by hula hooping. She even filmed her own hula hooping exercise video for Gaiam. "Weighted hula hoops can be a good addition to your exercise program, even if you're only able to hula hoop for a few minutes at a time a couple times during the day. In fact, any type of hula hooping, using a weighted hula hoop or a regular hula hoop, can help you meet your exercise goals and provide aerobic activity. And it can be fun!" says the Mayo Clinic.
