Max Collins is heating up the Philippines in her swimsuit. 1. Exercise

Max, who became a mom in 2020, started exercising almost immediately post birth. “I started working out as soon as my midwife allowed me to, which was somewhere between two to four weeks,” the actress told Preview.

2. Mix Up Your Workouts

Max switches up her workouts. For example, when she started working out again she did pilates for one hour, three times a week, and then moved on to other higher-impact exercises. “I'm so happy to be lifting weights again, doing circuit training and cycling,” she added to Preview. “I started cycling 20-45 minutes a day. I'd alternate between cycling and pilates." Now her workout is circuit training and weight-lifting for 45 minutes five times a week and pilates for one hour, two times a week.

3. Exercise More Than Once in a Day

If Max feels like it, she will work out more than once a day. "Some days I’ll do two workouts and some days I just won't work out! Listen to your body, be mindful of when you can push harder and when you need rest,” she told Preview.

4. Eat Healthy

Max revealed everything she eats in a day to Preview. She starts with whole wheat toast, eggs, and black coffee for breakfast. For lunch, “some kind of protein like chicken or bangus and brown rice. Sometimes canned tuna or salmon cooked in olive oil and garlic,” she continued. For dinner, she likes to eat salad. “I also try to lower my processed food intake and stop eating after 7 p.m.,” she continued. "I'll have something sweet at some point in the day when I crave sweets. Usually, I eat a piece of dark chocolate, or vegan ice cream on special days. If you want to drink alcohol once in a while, prosecco is low in sugar, so that's what I drink!"

5. Prioritize Self-Care

Max prioritizes “For me, it’s really all about taking care of myself mentally, physically and emotionally. All of that is important,” she told Philstar. “That includes working out every day, taking my supplements and meditating. Because I do all those things regularly, I think, the glow comes out more often.”

1. She Works Out Her Core

Just yesterday, Collins shared a video of her working out. “I miss the gym,” she captioned it. In the clip, she’s working out her core, doing bicycle kicks, leg raises, squats and more. “Was great working out with you mama! 🔥 Let’s go again when I’m back in Dec! Miss you already. 😘” said her friend, entrepreneur Julia Quisumbing. Try this core exercise from trainer Mark Langowski:

“Alternating Forward lunge with medicine ball core rotation. Men use a 10-20lb med ball. Women use 4-10lb med ball. Stand with your toes facing forward and your feet about a foot apart. Hold a medicine ball in front of your belly with both hands, arms extended. Inhale and step your right foot out approximately three feet in front of your body (depending on your height). Your front knee should be bent at a 90-degree angle, with your foot directly under your knee. As your front foot hits the floor, rotate your torso to the right and reach the medicine ball out over your right leg. Now twist back to center as you use the muscles of your leg and core to push yourself back up to the starting position. Repeat with the left leg. Total of 20 reps. (10 each side)."

2. She Does Crunches

“Don’t waste my time,” she captioned a video of herself doing crunches. Says the Mayo Clinic: “Abdominal crunches are a classic core-strength exercise:

  • Lie on your back and place your feet on a wall so that your knees and hips are bent at 90-degree angles. Tighten your abdominal muscles.
  • Raise your head and shoulders off the floor. To avoid straining your neck, cross your arms on your chest rather than locking them behind your head. Hold for three deep breaths.
  • Return to the start position and repeat.”

3. She Gets Her Vitamin D

Collins tans. Do so responsibly. “Although the amount of vitamin D adults get from their diets is often less than what's recommended, exposure to sunlight can make up for the difference. For most adults, vitamin D deficiency is not a concern,” says the Mayo Clinic. “However, some groups — particularly people who are obese, who have dark skin and who are older than age 65 — may have lower levels of vitamin D due to their diets, little sun exposure or other factors. Don't overdo it, though. Very high levels of vitamin D have not been shown to provide greater benefits. In fact, too much vitamin D has been linked to other health problems.”

4. She Juices

“Cool for the summer 🍃,” she captioned a photo of a green juice. “I always recommend choosing the fresh whole fruits and veggies over the juiced ones because you're basically just drinking the sugar squeezed from the fruits," Laura Burak, MS, RD, author of Slimdown with Smoothies, told our sister site Eat This, Not That!. "When you eat the whole versions, you will reap the benefits of the fiber and volume." But, the site says: “if you're in a bind or are used to a busy schedule, juice may be the answer. Burak recommends including dark, leafy greens into your juice like spinach or kale, as well as a fruit like cucumber.”

5. She’s a Coffee Drinker

“I have OCD: Obsessive Coffee Disorder 😜,” Collins has said. “There aren’t a lot of downsides to drinking moderate amounts of coffee — and in fact, it can have positive effects on your health,” says registered dietitian Andrea Dunn, RD, to the Cleveland Clinic. “Surprisingly, coffee is the single best source of antioxidants in the American diet,” Dunn says.

"Vitamin C is good for immunity," says Maya Vadiveloo, assistant professor in the department of nutrition and food sciences at the University of Rhode Island. "It's an antioxidant so it can help with oxidative stress in the body. The primary benefit, in addition to being a really good source of vitamin C, is that (mangoes) are a decent source of vitamin A, folate and are pretty high in fiber, which is beneficial for colon cancer prevention, heart disease and weight control."

4. She’s a Singer

Singing and performing are creative endeavors very important to Berlingeri. “Singing at the Estadio Azteca was something I never in my life imagined doing, let alone daring,” she says. “I don't know how I did it, but I did it. I'm thankful for the people who motivated me to achieve it because I couldn't do it alone. Thanks to my mother for giving birth to me in Puerto Rico and with my father for raising me on this island that I love so much.”

"That's one rule because I do feel like you will have a higher chance of breaking out if you are wearing a full face of makeup. A few things I always have with me is some sort of a spray. Culpo shared her skincare routines with Byrdie. She says that she keeps her morning and night routine simple. “I am always trying out new products, so what I gravitate toward is often changing. At night, I usually use an oil and a serum. Right now, I love the Clarins Double Serum. In the morning, I use a Vitamin C serum and an SPF, and, typically, I just rinse my skin with warm water instead of using a cleanser. It is something I swear by—it allows for the oils on my skin from sleeping to absorb naturally.”

Culpo shared some of her favorite skincare products with Byrdie. She says that she uses ones that have vitamins in them. “I have noticed a huge difference in my skin with vitamin C and E. I love the Good Janes H2OMyGod Moisturizer—it's sort of an all-in-one moisturizer that has vitamin C and collagen peptides. As for vitamin E, I actually just purchase the oil from the drugstore. It is super cheap and great to put on any red marks I may get from an occasional breakout. The healing process is so much quicker when I am using Vitamin E oil.”

Abigail swears that abiding by simple rules helps her stay in shape. “I can’t diet. That just doesn’t work for me,” she told New Beauty. “I started to be healthier by first cutting out soda. Then, I stopped eating after 7 p.m. Finally, I started really watching my portions so I was eating fewer calories every day. And water—lots and lots of water.”

Abigail explains being accountable for what she eats is crucial. While it’s not “rocket science,” she does use the MyFitnessPal app to track her eating. “I’m the type of person who likes to eat what I want. The app can help anyone do that—you can still eat great food, you just eat less of it,” she added New Beauty.

Abigail is a fan of Pilates. “Group workout classes are so big right now, but I always get nervous around other people in settings like that. I have to go at my own pace without a bunch of distractions so, for me, Pilates with a one-on-one instructor works best. It’s not cheap, but then you also aren’t tempted to skip,” she said She added to Men’s Fitness via Muscle & Fitness that the workout “keeps you long and lean” — and the Mayo Clinic agrees. They say it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

“I love green juices and smoothies. Sometimes I’ll put some protein powder in the morning—I feel like the mix of vegetables, and vitamins and stuff that’s in them, really gives me a lot of energy in the morning. I love BBQ food—my ultimate cheat is a pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries, and macaroni and cheese from this great place in LA,” she told Men’s Fitness.

Ratchford also lifts weights. “Initially, I made the mistake that a lot of girls do and I was only doing cardio. I just really didn’t see too much change in my body. I’ve been listening to my girlfriends who are in great shape and they say you have to do weight training, you have to go in and do squats. That’s my new thing—I’ve been doing some resistance training, circuit training,” she told Men’s Fitness.
