If you want a body like Maya's you are going to have to work out hard for it. "When I'm away filming, I try to wake up early so I can fit in a workout before arriving on set. It helps get me in the zone," she told Women's Health. She also makes sure to break a sweat at least every other day. "I have loads of energy so lately I've been trying to channel that into an exercise routine. But I'm still very much a beginner. I now work out three to four days a week because I know it's an important part of keeping healthy," she added. "I'm actually finding it quite fun. Once a week, I do a one-hour boxing workout with my trainer Bradley Simmonds, who keeps me motivated; if I'm on my own, I'll pump up high-energy songs like Bicycle by Vybz Kartel to get me through my workout."

Maya is one of the many stars who relies on HIIT style workouts to stay in shape. Last summer she revealed her "vigorous summer workout plan," which consisted of three sets of burpees, jumping squats and planks (non-stop for 20 seconds then 40 seconds rest), followed by seated shoulder presses (three sets of ten reps), squats (three sets of ten reps), crunches (three rounds of 20 seconds non-stop plus a 40 second rest) and press-ups (three sets of ten reps). "Although, I prefer weight training on the machines and I still do some cardio. I usually ease myself in with a run or fast walk on the treadmill," she said.

She Doesn't Waste Time When She's at the Gym

Maya is a true believer of "quality over quantity is key," when it comes to exercise. "I'm really busy at the moment so it's easy to just say, 'I don't have the time to work out, and quit.'" She learned from a friend "that it's not how long you train for, but how you train that counts."

She Relies On Workout Buddies

Maya is a big proponent of workout buddies, explaining that having other people pushing you is great for accountability. "In the first lockdown, I lived with friends and we all worked out together. It was good because when one person wasn't feeling it, the others would get you in the mood," she told Stylist.co

She Prioritizes Self-Care

Maya is all about self-care. One of her top ways to unwind is taking CBD baths. "When I have something really important on the next day I have a really hot bath before bed with CBD oil in the bath so it's really steamy," Maya told Get the Gloss. How can baths do your body and mind good? They have been linked to better sleep and even found helpful to minimize anxiety and depression. One recent study even found that they may even boast cardiovascular benefits.

Maya, who claims she "hates" exercise, has a hack. She is a fan of Shane Cooper's Body Defining Treatment on her thighs and stomach, to tighten and tone her muscles, she revealed to Get the Gloss. According to Cooper the treatment "simultaneously addresses both muscle and fat" and does so "by using electromagnetic waves, to induce up to 36,000 supra-maximal forced muscle contractions during each session." In 2020 he shared a video of her getting the treatment in his office.
