She Doesn't Bodybuild
You won't find Melissa bodybuilding like her co-star Teresa Guidice. "I don't like a lot of muscle," she told Women's Health. "I like to stay a little bit more feminine. I don't know. I don't think it would look right."
She Won't Diet
"I never do fad diets," Gorga told Women's Health. "I feel like I do a lot better with my own routine. It's worked for me forever." Instead, she focuses on maintaining healthy habits. "It's a lifestyle for me. I feel better when I eat healthy. If I don't work out for a week or two, I feel miserable."
She Lifts Weights
What do her workouts look like? "I do a lot of lifting. I don't do that much cardio, because I run around so much." She added to Women's Health that she works out at least four times a week for an hour at a time, often targeting "butts and guts" to tone her booty and abs. "I feel like even if you're a little bit heavier, it's all about toning your body. Work with what you're working with, but keep it tight."
This Is What She Eats in a Day
She starts her day with a hot coffee for a little pre workout energy. And, while she limits her carb intake, she doesn't do keto. Post-workout she eats a grilled chicken salad or turkey sandwich for lunch. However, she doesn't eat carbs after that. "For dinner, it's always a piece of meat and vegetables."
She Has a Cheat Day
While Melissa eats healthy most of the time, she allows herself to indulge on Sundays, when everyone gathers for a big Italian dinner of pizza, pasta, and more.
She Tries New Gadgets
"I just tried something called Emsculpt, which is the equivalent of doing 20,000 squats in 30 minutes," she told Women's Health. "You do it four times and each time is a half-hour session. You can do it on your butt or on your abs." She maintains it tricked her body into thinking it worked out, and left her feeling "sore the next day."
She Avoids Salty Food If She Is Going to Be in a Swimsuit
"I won't eat, like, salty food the day before, 'cause I do retain water," she told Us Weekly. "So, it's like, I pay attention if I'm going to eat, like, anything really salty or Chinese food or anything that's going to give me a lot of salt. I would tend to stick away from [it] if I know I've got to put a bikini on the next day."
She Hydrates
Melissa is also "huge" on consuming "so much" water she told Us Weekly. "I pee a lot because I drink a lot of water. So I feel like I'm constantly running to the bathroom because I just drink so much water. So … I know it's such, like, a cliche, but it's so true. It's one of the truest things for your skin and for the flush out your body."
