She Cut Two Things From Her Diet
Michelle eats healthy, and has cut two things from her diet. "I avoid sugars and simple carbohydrates. For example, we make bread at home and do not use double zero flour. We eat whole wheat pasta. I am convinced that sugar is a kind of poison for the body and I believe that most of the merit of my health, also of the skin, is due to this choice," she told Oggi. Excellent call. Take fructose, for example, a basic component in table sugar. The body can't really use fructose for energy, at least not right away. Fructose is instead shuttled to the liver, where it's metabolized and stored as fat. This process causes spikes in the hormone ghrelin, the "I'm still hungry" hormone that sends us out seeking additional calories. Fructose behaves in the body much the way alcohol does, and has the same damaging effect on the liver; the only difference is that you don't catch a buzz.
She Does Restorative Exercise
Michelle loves restorative exercise. "Up to 33 years of age I have always done only outdoor sports: skiing, mountain biking, running. But then I sneezed and my back got stuck. It is there that I discovered postural gymnastics which, together with pilates, changed my life, I never had pain again," she told Oggi.
She Doesn't Diet
Michelle isn't a fan of diets. "I've never really been on a diet," she told Grazia magazine a few years ago. She believes that because of her healthy eating, she has a fast metabolism. "I eat grilled meat, fish, vegetables, salad or rice," she said in a 2016 gala interview. For a healthy meal plan, enjoy foods like chicken, beef and fish; fresh fruit; even a moderate amount of chocolate. Aim for meals love in saturated fat and low in sugar (including natural sugars), moderate levels of protein (primarily from plants), and ones high in fiber and healthy, unsaturated fats. Consider three meals and two snacks a day, focusing on plant-based foods until dinnertime.
She Doesn't Weigh Herself
Michelle doesn't pay attention to the numbers on the scale. "Only my husband uses our scales every day," she said during her marriage to Tomaso Trussardi. "Regularly weighing yourself can help you stay on track with your weight loss or weight maintenance goals," Registered dietitian Chelsey Ludwiczak, RD, tells the Cleveland Clinic. "It's like having a weekly budget. If you go over your budget one week, you want to know so you can fix it. If you don't realize you're overspending every week, it adds up." However: "If you have a history of eating disorders or anxiety about the scale, avoid weighing yourself for now," Ludwiczak says. "Speak with a psychologist or mental health professional about these concerns."
She Has a Cheat Day
Michelle is one of the many stars who eats healthy most of the time, but allows for one cheat day per week. "I pay attention to food for six days and I sin on the seventh day," she told Blick. Some studies have found value in the motivational factor of anticipating cheat meals but others have found it's unsustainable.
