She Hits the Gym
As can be evidenced by her Instagram feed, Mónica spends a lot of time at the gym. Physical activity is anything that gets your body moving. Each week adults need 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity and 2 days of muscle strengthening activity, according to the current Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans
She Also Does These Outdoor Workouts
Mónica also makes fitness fun by taking her workouts outdoors. "I take long walks and sometimes I bike, tennis and paddle," she told MDZ. The Cleveland Clinic explains that biking, a low-impact aerobic exercise, is great for building muscle, improving strength and flexibility, and improving balance, while ACE Fitness explains that tennis is also a great workout, blending together cardio and aerobic exercise, as there is a lot of running around, and hand-eye coordination. "While tennis provides numerous health benefits—improved aerobic fitness and anaerobic endurance, muscular fitness (grip strength and endurance), flexibility, multiple skill parameters (balance, speed, agility and quickness), reactivity, and power—it also is psychologically demanding," they say.
She Avoids Sugary Drinks
Mónica just says no to sugary beverages. She told MDZ that she avoids the consumption of soft drinks, alcohol, and sugary juices or heavy smoothies.
She Also Eliminated These Foods From Her Diet
Mónica also stays away from flour and tries to eat very little meat. However she admits she does cheat and eat them on occasion.
She Focuses Her Diet Around Plants
Mónica tries to eat a lot of plants, which includes "Lots of salad to which I add edamame, and all kinds of grilled vegetables, low sodium salt, no dressing except a little olive and lots of lemon. Instead of mayonnaise I put hummus on everything," she told MDZ.
