She's Committed To Her Diet

In February 2020, Minaj talked with Meghan Trainor on her Queen Radio show about her weight loss process. Minaj says that after a while, she fully committed herself to eating healthy. "For example, I was trying to do this diet and I kept putting it off," she said. "I didn't think I could have the discipline in what I ate. Once my mind was committed to it, my body committed to it."

She's Nicer To Herself

In the same interview with Trainor, Minaj talked with the singer about mental health and self confidence. Minaj talked about how she's working on treating herself better. "I've been talking about that this year too, about being kind to yourself, and allowing yourself to be human, while at the same time, being motivated and powerful, but also treating yourself as if you love yourself too," Minaj said. "And being easy on yourself. Like, nothing and no one is perfect."

She's In Control Of Her Life

In the same Queen Radio episode, Minaj opened up about how she is taking control of her life and is aware of the power she has. "I channeled all of my power and now I have control of it. I control how it manifests in my life." Minaj says that realizing this and this change in her attitude helped make 2019 her "favorite year."

She Changes Her Diet When She Wants To Lose Weight

Minaj opened up about her weight loss secrets in a Twitter Q&A for Marie Claire. She says that she prefers to change her diet, rather than exercise, when she wants to lose weight. And she says that she likes to cut out certain unhealthy food and ingredients when she's losing weight. "When I feel I need to lose weight, I just change what I eat," she explains. "I cut out carbs and sugar. I'll do water and protein and fruit.

She Took A Hiatus From Music

After releasing her album Queen in 2018, Minaj decided to take a hiatus from music. She decided to focus on starting her family, and welcomed her first child in 2020.  She would later return to music last May, releasing her album Beam Me Up Scotty. In a Q&A on Twitter, a fan asked Minaj if her hiatus was beneficial for her mental health. Minaj responded, "Great question. Yes. It was soooo needed for me. I appreciate u guys so much for waiting. But yea, very much needed that zen for important bonding time w|my son, getting back fluid w|writing & smthn else I don't want to discuss yet. If u know u know."
