1

Fuel Up with Healthy Food

"Don't deprive yourself of anything because eventually you'll crave it and then you might binge on it. Everything in moderation," Nicole told Women's Health UK. "For breakfast I love eggs and toast and smoked salmon or bacon, or porridge. For lunch I like maybe some soup or some sushi. For dinner, anything from pasta to rice, and meats and veggies, to sushi. When I'm going to indulge, I love pasta, pizza, I love Mexican with lots of cheese. I love French fries, or crisps – salt and vinegar crisps. In terms of snacks: almonds, coconut water, bits of coconut, baby carrots."

Mix Up Your Workouts

Scherzinger told Women's Health UK that she is a fan of mixing up workouts. "In a typical workout I would run on the treadmill, maybe 20 mins, then try to do some squats, some sit-ups on the exercise ball, some yoga stretches. When I'm home I like to take a spinning class called Soul Cycle or I like to do hot yoga – a modified version of bikram yoga – or hiking, and core power yoga in LA." She also dances. "I mean, I heard that dancing and laughing gives you better abs than crunches anyway," she captioned a recent post.

Find a buddy to work out with, per Scherzinger. "Me and my girlfriends support each other for the gym. Because, you know, it's hard to be motivated sometimes, so when you go you push each other, – we try to do different things," she told Women's Health UK. "We'll go hiking one day and then we'll try a sculpting hot yoga class, then we'll do a cardio. We just motivate each other."

Stay Active

Scherzinger is a fan of outdoor activities, including going on walks, hiking and surfing. Says the Mayo Clinic: "There are many activities you can enjoy close to home, whether you're visiting your favorite public, state or national park, or just spending time in your neighborhood. While various activities may not be possible during some seasons, there are many ways to be active outdoors throughout the year. Get moving with these low-risk outdoor activities during the COVID-19 pandemic:

  • Walking, running and hiking
  • Rollerblading and biking
  • Fishing and hunting
  • Golfing
  • Rock or ice climbing
  • Kayaking, canoeing, diving, boating or sailing
  • Skiing, including cross-country and downhill skiing
  • Ice skating
  • Snowboarding
  • Sledding
  • Snowshoeing
  • Fitness classes, held outside or virtually, that allow distance."

Exercise for Your Mental Health

Exercise is about so much more than looking good for Nicole. "I travel so much it's so important for me to sweat it out. It's not only for physical being, but mostly for my mental well-being. It keeps me centered, focused, strong and helps me get in the right frame of mind for my work ahead. Preparation is key. Prepare yourself so when the opportunity comes, you are ready!" she wrote on Instagram.

Make Sleep a Priority

Nicole makes sure to give her body a chance to regenerate. "Get lots of sleep – sleep really makes such a huge difference," she told Women's Health UK. "Aim to get at least seven hours of sleep a night so that you have the energy to tackle everyday demands. Waking up refreshed will help you make smart decisions and stick to your diet and exercise plan. Sleep can help boost your motivation and willpower, making it easier to fend off temptations," says the Mayo Clinic.
