Nina Dobrev is enjoying some time off in Mexico! The 32-year-old actress stripped down to her swimsuit and enjoyed some rest and relaxation over the weekend, flaunting her fabulously fit figure while taking a dip in a picturesque pool overlooking the sea of Cortez. How does the former Vampire Diaries star keep herself in such fantastic shape? Read on to see 6 ways Nina Dobrev prioritizes her health and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bikini Photos!

1. She Loves Exercise

Nina doesn’t have to force herself to break a sweat. "I just love working out," she told Women's Health. Yoga, HIIT, and boxing are a few of her favorites. "Doing something different [each day] has been the most fun, and I've seen the most benefit because you shock your system.” She added to Shape that strength training does her body good. "I actually did not do a lot of [strength training] in the past-I only did yoga and ran in terms of training. Strength training with weights and such a regimented schedule has been new to my life, and now that I understand the way it all works, the science behind it, it's changed everything for me.”

2. She Is Incredibly Outdoorsy

In addition to her regular workouts, Nina stays incredibly active outdoors. Hiking, skiing and riding bikes are just a few of the ways she burns calories when she isn’t at the gym.

3. She Eats All Day Long

Nina keeps herself constantly fueled with food. "I used to eat three full meals and then I would not be able to move after each meal. I would be so full and tired. Now, I eat all the time but portion control is what's important for me-I'm eating more in total but not more at a time,” she explained to Shape. “Basically, I aim to have the size of my thumb in fat, the size of my palm in protein, and then unlimited veggies. I wish I'd learned this in school."

4. She Also Juices

Nina is a big fan of nutritious juices. "When I'm sick or not feeling great, I'm all about the juices," she told Well+Good. "It seems like the worse the taste, the better it is for you, so I do ginger, garlic, cayenne pepper, oregano oil—ugh, double ugh— lemon, everything." Sometimes she even adds collagen peptides for a bit of protein.

5. Music Is Her Motivation

Nina gets herself pumped up for a workout with music. "Music is a big part of my training and my life. Before I had a trainer I would go to the gym and go on the treadmill and whenever it was the chorus I would sprint and whenever it was not the chorus I would just jog. If there's a beat I can usually get into a groove and sense what's happening and if something burns I just plow through it because the music is what drives me,” she explained to Shape.

6. She Works Out in the AM

Nina likes to get her workouts in first thing. "You need to make a decision-do I want to look and feel a certain way and put the work into it? I see the difference so I make the time for it on set. I would wake up an hour earlier. Even though I was exhausted after a 12-hour day and did not want to work out, I did it because I always knew I would feel better after,” she explained to Shape. “I do it first thing when I wake up because then I can't make up an excuse for it, like being tired later on in the day. Because usually by 6 p.m. you're just like, I have no energy. I've done all the things I've done! I don't want to do anything else! I just get it done in the morning."

Nina Dobrev, star of Love Hard, knows how to have a good time, especially now that she's traveling the world with her boyfriend, legendary snowboarder Shaun White. The two gallivant. She’s currently on vacation in Dubai, and just posted a series of vacation photos. In one, Dobrev slays by the pool in a black bathing suit. She captioned the post, “Dub-hi / Dub-byeeee dump. Don’t challenge us with a good time, we can accomplish ALOT on a 36 hour layover.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Nina Dobrev stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She Has A Home Gym

nina-dobrev-1Nina Dobrev/Instagram

During the pandemic, Dobrev had to find a new way to workout. She says that she decided to build a home gym. “One of the things that I realized when the pandemic started was that I used a personal trainer and relied on a lot of outside sources for my fitness -- especially because I used to be so busy traveling and working," Dobrev tells Shape. "But once I was home, I realized I didn't have much [gym equipment] at home so I went into a mad dash."

2. She Enjoys Working Out

amfAR Gala Cannes 2022 - ArrivalsLionel Hahn/Getty Images

Dobrev spilled some of her workout secrets in an interview with SELF. She says that she works out on a regular basis, and that she doesn’t work out to lose weight. "I work out to feel good. Exercising gives me endorphins and energy. I do it four days a week." "It pumps up your endorphins. Physical activity helps bump up the production of your brain's feel-good neurotransmitters, called endorphins. Although this function is often referred to as a runner's high, a rousing game of tennis or a nature hike also can contribute to this same feeling," says the Mayo Clinic.

3. She Trains Harder When She Needs To

"Run This Town" Canadian PremiereGeorge Pimentel/Getty Images

Dobrev says she mostly works out to stay healthy and feel better about herself. However, she does want to look good in some outfits on occasion. When those times come up, Dobrev tells SELF that she eats healthier and trains harder. "I have a flat tummy, but I'm not rock hard. If I'm going to be in a bikini, I'll train more and skip desserts for a couple of weeks."

4. She Remembers Where She Came From

2nd Annual Environmental Media Association (EMA) Honors Benefit Gala - ArrivalsTibrina Hobson/Getty Images

Dobrev makes sure to stay humble, and does so by being connected to her roots. She tells SELF, "Remembering my roots matters to me. We were on a tight budget growing up, and my parents gave so much to get me where I am. Now, at Christmas, I rent a house in the Rockies and take my family snowboarding." "Skiing and snowboarding are thrilling activities and great workouts. Both sports are excellent cardiovascular exercises that strengthen the heart. Because they are also weight-bearing exercises, they strengthen your bones as they tone your muscles," says the University of Rochester. "Cardiovascular or aerobic exercises also work to reduce your risk for chronic diseases, and lower blood pressure. They also help you maintain a healthy body weight. Through regular aerobic exercise like skiing and snowboarding, you lower your risk of developing conditions like diabetes and heart disease, having a stroke, and perhaps even getting cancer."

5. She Loves Yoga

Top Gun: Maverick UK Premiere - LondonIan West/Getty Images

Dobrev tells SELF that she loves to practice yoga as a way to stay in shape. "Yoga changed my body 100 percent. It tones everything and leans you out. Dancer's pose is amazing. It works every muscle! And you have to focus. If your mind is somewhere else, you'll fall." "A number of studies have shown that yoga may help reduce stress and anxiety. Yoga can enhance your mood and overall sense of well-being. Yoga might also help you manage your symptoms of depression and anxiety that are due to difficult situations," says the Mayo Clinic.

Nina Dobrev knows how to have it all. Besides a thriving career in Hollywood, the star of The Vampire Diaries and Fam also enjoys some guilty pleasures—without the calories adding up, thanks to some smart dietary choices and targeted workouts. The results were on display this weekend, when she posted a photo of herself on Instagram in a bikini—with a simple bikini emoji as the caption. Read on to see 5 ways Nina Dobrev stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bikini Photos!

1. She Juices

“When I’m sick or not feeling great, I’m all about the juices," says Dobrev. "It seems like the worse the taste, the better it is for you, so I do ginger, garlic, cayenne pepper, oregano oil—ugh, double ugh— lemon, everything.” She also adds collagen peptides for a bit of protein, according to Well+Good.

2. She Loves to Workout

“I just love working out,” she told Women’s Health. She’ll do yoga, a gym workout, boxing and mix it up. “I’m getting older and more conscious of what I eat and how I eat it and what I do,” she says. “Doing something different [each day] has been the most fun, and I’ve seen the most benefit because you shock your system.”

3. She Works Out Her Core

One of Dobrev’s go-to workout moves is glute bridges with tricep extensions, as seen in an Instagram video shared by trainer to the stars Harley Pasternak. “One of my favorite Canadians @nina doing my absolute all-time favorite exercise,” Pasternak captioned the video. He told Self: “I love that it’s incredibly efficient,” and the magazine notes that it “targets two very important posterior chain muscles (muscles on the back of the body), the butt and triceps,” and Pasternak adds it “requires very little equipment” and “because you’re lying on your back, your heart rate really never gets too high” so you can focus on the muscles.

4. She Snacks on This

Celebrities Visit Build - October 7, 2019Jason Mendez/Getty Images

"There was a period of time where I was working with a trainer who told me you have to eat every two hours so your metabolism keeps working, so that's kind of how I live my life," says Dobrev, according to Eat This, Not That!, which adds that “she says that her preferred snacks include almonds, Made Good gluten-free granola, and Smart Treats gummy candy.” "They look like Swedish Fish and they kind of taste like Swedish Fish, but they're, to me, guilt-free because they don't have really high sugars in them," Dobrev explains.

5. She Co-Created Her Own Guilt-Free Wine

Fifth Annual InStyle Awards - Red CarpetRandy Shropshire/Getty Images

Along with Julianne Hough, Dobrev co-created her own line of wine that is low in calories. “I loved wines that were both bold and smooth. But to be honest, I had a really hard time drinking wine because … they would be filled with sugar and other additives that would make me super hungover. That’s why I wanted to create something I could enjoy and actually consume without feeling guilty or have harmful consequences! That’s what Fresh Vine Wine is for me,” she told Guest of a Guest.

We also spotted Ashanti in paradise, Dua Lipa and Chantel Jeffries in Miami, and many more. How do they all stay so fit while keeping so busy? 1. Nina Dobrev

nina-dobrev-1Nina Dobrev/Instagram

When it comes to her diet, Dobrev says that she has changed her outlook on eating in recent years. “I used to eat three full meals and then I would not be able to move after each meal,” she told Shape. “I would be so full and tired. Now, I eat all the time but portion control is what’s important for me—I’m eating more in total but not more at a time.” "A portion is the amount of food you put on your plate, while a serving is an exact amount of food. To get a better handle on what you're eating, you could carry around measuring cups. Or you could use everyday objects as reminders of appropriate serving sizes, which is what the Mayo Clinic Diet recommends," says the Mayo Clinic. "Many foods match up to everyday objects. For example, a medium pepper is about the size of a baseball and equals one vegetable serving. While not all foods match visual cues, this method can help you become better at gauging serving sizes and practicing portion control."

2. Ananya Panday

Actress Ananya Panday wore a tight yellow dress to advertise her latest film, Gehraiyaan, on Amazon Prime video on Instagram—and also shared a trailer from the movie. In addition to being an actress, Panday has also launched her own fitness program. 3. Luisa Collins

Luisa Collins enjoyed a drink in a jacuzzi this week, and she broke out her leopard print swimsuit to do so. When it comes to losing weight, Collins told the Daily Star that she likes to take supplements to prevent her from snacking too much. “When I take a Forza Raspberry Ketone in the morning and afternoon, my snacking habits are being curbed. They are like willpower in pill form. I feel more energized and taking the capsules has not really affected my lifestyle at all.”

4. Ashanti

Singer Ashanti wore a floral bikini and posed poolside on Instagram this week. In 2019, while promoting her film Stuck, she revealed to People that she made a lot of changes to her diet. “I cut out a lot of meat,” she said. “I think again, self-health and self-awareness are so important. All of that stuff is so important to maintaining your body, knowing what’s in your food, the GMO’s and the chemicals, and I’m super aware of this stuff.”

5. Brooke Burke

Brooke Burke advertised her workout program on Instagram this week, and she posted several stunning photos, showing off her toned body. The program Burke is advertising is designed to target your entire body, specifically your abs, legs, and butt. Burke posted a reel of herself doing her workout with some of her friends, captioning it, “Move, sweat, change.”

6. Dua Lipa

Singer Dua Lipa took a trip to Miami this week with her friends, model Sarah Lysander, and talent manager Bashir Arab-Sanchez. She posted several stunning poolside photos on her Instagram story. Lipa is also kicking off her “Future Nostalgia” tour, but she says that she still makes time to workout while she’s on the road and traveling. “When I have a tiny bit more time on my side I love mixing up lots of different training, finding different workouts in whatever city I’m in, whether it’s yoga, Pilates, boxing or spinning,” she told The Urban List. “Whatever it is, I try to change it up every day to keep things interesting. When you’re on a tour bus, every day and every place is different, so you never know what you’re going to find. That’s always one way to keep it interesting.”

7. Chantel Jeffries

Model and DJ Chantel Jeffries posted this bikini photo of herself and her friend, Cindy Kimberly, as they lounged on a pool chair. In a video for Pretty Little Thing, Jeffries revealed that she switches up her workouts to keep herself interested. “I like to hike, I like to skate, swimming, so that’s something to keep me motivated,” she said.

8. Sommer Ray

Fitness influencer Sommer Ray posted a gorgeous photo on Instagram of herself in a red bikini. Ray tells Life&Style magazine that she believes a healthy diet is the most important part of losing weight and staying in shape. "Diet is key. Diet plays a huge role in fitness. A lot of people go to the gym, work out really hard, then don't follow up with a good lifestyle. You can't expect a flower to grow without any water. Work out, but also take care of yourself.” Ray even has her own app where people can put in what they eat each day, and it will calculate the food’s nutritional value.

9. Teddi Mellencamp

After spending time in the Celebrity Big Brother house, Mellencamp revealed on Instagram that she had gained some weight and had slipped up on her diet. However, now that she’s home, Mellencamp says that she is making a healthy diet and lifestyle a main priority, but is not doing so to lose the weight she gained. “IT’S NOT ABOUT A NUMBER ON THE SCALE BUT HOW I FEEL WHEN I AM EATING CLEAN AND TAKING CARE OF MY BODY AND MIND - MY ANXIETY DECREASES,” she wrote. “TODAY I AM POSTING TO HOLD MYSELF ACCOUNTABLE TO MAKING MY OVERALL HEALTH A PRIORITY AGAIN. *even those of us who are “fitness influencers” go through different stages in our journeys.”

10. Alessandra Ambrosio

alessandra-ambrosio-1Alessandra Ambrosio/Instagram

Despite being a swimsuit model, Ambrosio tells Elle that she isn’t afraid to indulge once in a while. She says that she prioritizes a balanced diet rather than a restrictive one. “Obviously I try not to splurge on pasta, but if I'm back in Brazil where everything is pasta- or bread-based—and so yummy—I'll eat whatever I want, then go back to lots of salads and chicken or fish with veg as soon as I'm back in L.A."

11. Eugenie Bouchard

Tennis star Eugenie Bouchard enjoyed a trip to Miami this week, and one of the things she did while she was there was spend time on a boat. She posted this reel on Instagram of herself doing a hydrotherapy session, and also posted this reel of herself doing arm workouts.

Leonie Hanne is living her best life in Thailand – in her swimsuit. In a new social media post, the German model flaunts her fantastic figure in a $750 Missoni bathing suit while enjoying a boating day in the tropics. “She dreamed of a tropical adventure 🦋,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. “Stunning,” commented one of her followers. ”So beautiful,” added another. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Coffee

Leonie enjoys the perks of caffeine. In one of her posts from Thailand, she drinks a cup of coffee at the poolside. According to the Cleveland Clinic, drinking coffee in moderation has several benefits. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.

Pilates

Leonie does Pilates at the super exclusive London studio Pilates in the Clouds. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress, and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

At-Home Workouts

Leonie tries to get a workout in daily, preferably in the morning. I still try to get up early to maintain a sense of routine. I start every day with a quick at-home workout and a homemade acai bowl, before starting work on emails and content creation. I’ve been getting really into TikTok lately, it’s funny and keeps me feeling energised!” she told Arcadia.

Community

It takes a village, according to Leonie. “Community is key! The people you surround yourself with are more important than ever, as we are all trying to find ways to stay connected without being physically present. Speaking to people either on the phone or through social media can shift your mindset and motivation more than ever before,” she says.

Small, Healthy Habits

Leonie focuses on maintaining small, healthy habits. “Do something every day that brings you joy. Even if that means having something small to look forward to, like having your favourite snacks around the house or changing into an outfit that makes you feel good about yourself,” she says.

Sophie loves paddle boarding. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) agrees that paddle boarding is great for the core and cardio. Water sports can burn an average of 385 calories for a 140-pound male and 436 calories for a female of the same size, per a study conducted by Arizona State University.

She Skis

When Sophie hits the mountains, she throws on a pair of skis. “Ski club,” she captioned a photo. Research has linked downhill skiing to several health benefits. In addition to promoting physical fitness, it may decrease the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Studies have also found that the more frequently a person skis, the prevalence of known hypercholesterolemia, systemic hypertension, diabetes, the frequency of mental stress, and the occurrence of memory deficits decline.

She Goes Snorkeling

On her recent Maldives vacation, Sophie and Josh snorkeled in the crystal clear water. Surprisingly, putting on a snorkel and fins and swimming through the water is a great workout. In addition to being a great aerobic exercise and burning calories, other health benefits may include improved cardiovascular function, stress reduction, mood enhancement, and muscular toning.

Hembrow captioned the post, “We are 3 days into our first @tammyfitapp challenge of the year & I am more motivated than everrrrr. (Sign ups are still open if you haven’t joined yet - there’s still time to catch up!! - link in bio). Soooo happy seeing so many of my girlies (and guys) in this challenge doing it with me!! And I CANNOT wait to see everyone’s results at the end of the 8 weeks. We got thissss 💪🏼”

She Does Pulldowns

Hembrow is seen doing pulldowns in her Instagram video. Piedmont reports that pulldowns have a lot of benefits. “The lat pulldown is a fantastic exercise for strengthening the latissimus dorsi muscle, the broadest muscle in your back. Hembrow is seen doing a lot of exercises with weights in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness states that using weights to workout has a lot of benefits. “Strength training with heavy weights improves muscle definition. Muscle definition occurs as the result of muscles remaining in a state of semi-contraction and heavy strength training recruits the larger type II muscle fibers responsible for a muscle’s appearance.”

She Tracks Her Meals

Hembrow likes to track her meals on her app. She talked about the benefits of this in the caption of this “What I Eat In A Day” Instagram video. “Make sure to take advantage of the calorie/macro tracking features in the @tammyfitapp during this challenge guys. It can be really helpful in reaching specific goals quicker. And it also can help educate you on your food choices when it comes to nutrition, ratios, hidden calories, overeating or under eating etc. honestly I’d recommend any beginner try it out just to get a good feel for how you’re fuelling your body!! I feel like when people think of ‘meal tracking’ it can be seen as something that seems restrictive or something only bodybuilders do. When in reality it can be such a helpful tool and you can learn things that will actually encourage long term habits 🫶🏼🫶🏼”
