Nina Dobrev is making her fans jealous with her latest vacation snaps. The Vampire Diaries alum, who is currently living it up in the Maldives, shared a bunch of photos of herself in her swimsuit taken from paradise. “Schedule for the next week: eat. sleep. burn. apply aloe. 1. She Starts the Day with Coffee

Nina starts the day with one or two caffeinated beverages. "Mama needs some coffee. Some real strong, strong coffee," she revealed to Harper's Bazaar. "I do a shot of espresso and then I do a regular coffee, and I mix them together. I use almond milk and then I do a packet or two of stevia."

2. She Drinks Protein Shakes

Nina gets all her nutrients first thing in the morning with a smoothie. Her recipe involves unsweetened vanilla almond milk, frozen bananas, avocado, almond butter, and leafy greens. "The type of nuts you choose to eat probably doesn't matter much. Most nuts appear to be generally healthy, though some may have more heart-healthy nutrients than others. For example, walnuts contain high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids," says the Mayo Clinic. "Almonds, macadamia nuts, hazelnuts and pecans also appear to be quite heart healthy. And peanuts — which are technically not a nut, but a legume, like beans — seem to be relatively healthy." "I'll put spinach and arugula in there [and] collagen," she adds.

3. She Avoids Gluten and Dairy

Dobrev recently gave up gluten and dairy. After years of "not feeling well," she told Harper’s Bazaar that she pin-pointed it to the types of food. Now she opts for gluten- and dairy-free versions of her favorite foods.

Nina starts her day with protein, eating eggs and gluten-free toast. "After the eggs and the toast, I'll also do some steamed spinach, or I'll like to do apple sausages…I'll dip them into maple syrup," she explains. Sometimes she will have Simple Mills gluten-free pancake mix, combining it with bananas, blueberries, and chocolate. For lunch, she often orders from Fresh Corn Grill, a Los Angeles-based restaurant where she will order the Fresh Corn Grilled Salad – zucchini, asparagus, scallions, tomatoes, avocado, mixed greens with vinaigrette “but with no corn," she says.

5. She Eats Every Two Hours

Nina is a big snacker. "There was a period of time where I was working with a trainer who told me you have to eat every two hours so your metabolism keeps working, so that's kind of how I live my life," says Dobrev. Her favorite snacks are almonds, Made Good gluten-free granola, and Smart Sweets gummy candy. "They look like Swedish Fish and they kind of taste like Swedish Fish, but they're, to me, guilt-free because they don't have really high sugars in them," she told Harper’s Bazaar.

6. She Likes Hot and Cold Water Therapy

Nina is all about the extremes when it comes to temperature. “A steam shower was one of the main priorities when I renovated my house in Los Angeles. It’s a good time to meditate and take a few minutes to start the day off right,” she said in a separate interview with Harper’s Bazaar. Later in the morning, she turns down the temperature. “After breakfast I usually go for a swim in the pool. It’s not heated, so it’s kind of like natural cryotherapy.”

7. She Keeps Moving

Even when she isn’t formally exercising, Nina is on the move. In the morning she takes her dog, Maverick for a stroll around the neighborhood. “In the afternoon, I often end up meeting with friends for a coffee catch-up or some beach volleyball,” she added.

8. She’s All About “Detox and Retox”

Nina loves spending time with her friends. “When I have a night off, I like to stay home and watch movies and cook with my girlfriends. We’ll grab one of the cookbooks off my counter and open a random page and do our best to make the recipe, while destroying the kitchen in the process. We also work out together a lot. Before dinner we often meet up at a Les Mills class together (my favorite is Grit) or a dance class, or go to the gym. We’ll detox and then retox,” she told Harper’s Bazaar.

And obviously, since her boyfriend is the GOAT snowboarding champ Shaun White, Nina also snowboards. “Just tryna keep up,” she captioned this photo over the winter of one of their mountain trips.

Dobrev is currently dating snowboarder Shaun White, so it makes sense that she’s a fan of the sport. “Skiing and snowboarding are great cardiovascular exercises that can help families burn some serious calories and lose weight. The ultimate number burned per hour is based on weight and proficiency, but according to Harvard Medical School, someone who is 185 pounds burns 266 calories in 30 minutes of downhill skiing. Beginners can get an extra calorie burn by walking up the slope rather than using the ski lift. And, for the advanced skiers, the steeper the slope, the more calories burned because the body has to work harder to keep balanced. Believe it or not the cold weather also contributes to added calorie burn, since the body is forced to work harder to raise its own body temperature,” says Visit PA.

During the pandemic, Dobrev had to find a new way to workout. She says that she decided to build a home gym. “One of the things that I realized when the pandemic started was that I used a personal trainer and relied on a lot of outside sources for my fitness -- especially because I used to be so busy traveling and working," Dobrev tells Shape. "But once I was home, I realized I didn't have much [gym equipment] at home so I went into a mad dash."

Dobrev spilled some of her workout secrets in an interview with SELF. She says that she works out on a regular basis, and that she doesn’t work out to lose weight. "I work out to feel good. Exercising gives me endorphins and energy. I do it four days a week." "It pumps up your endorphins. Physical activity helps bump up the production of your brain's feel-good neurotransmitters, called endorphins. Although this function is often referred to as a runner's high, a rousing game of tennis or a nature hike also can contribute to this same feeling," says the Mayo Clinic.

If I'm going to be in a bikini, I'll train more and skip desserts for a couple of weeks."

Dobrev makes sure to stay humble, and does so by being connected to her roots. She tells SELF, "Remembering my roots matters to me. We were on a tight budget growing up, and my parents gave so much to get me where I am. Now, at Christmas, I rent a house in the Rockies and take my family snowboarding." "Skiing and snowboarding are thrilling activities and great workouts. Both sports are excellent cardiovascular exercises that strengthen the heart. Because they are also weight-bearing exercises, they strengthen your bones as they tone your muscles," says the University of Rochester. "Cardiovascular or aerobic exercises also work to reduce your risk for chronic diseases, and lower blood pressure. They also help you maintain a healthy body weight. Through regular aerobic exercise like skiing and snowboarding, you lower your risk of developing conditions like diabetes and heart disease, having a stroke, and perhaps even getting cancer."

Dobrev tells SELF that she loves to practice yoga as a way to stay in shape. "Yoga changed my body 100 percent. It tones everything and leans you out. Dancer's pose is amazing. It works every muscle! “I just love working out,” she told Women’s Health. So in that 30 minutes, 45, however long you’re in the workout class you’re focusing on you and you’re doing something for yourself and to make yourself feel better. And also accountable — if you say you’re going to do something with your friends you’re going to do it and go. But you can go to a workout class and chat with your friends before, do the class and go to coffee after words and chat about your lives and catch up. So it’s nice to have a community in that way.”

She makes sure to take deep breaths when she’s stressed out. “If you’re in a stressful situation, or if you’re upset about something, you can just breathe in and out a few times and allow for that time to pass. You can be more objective mentally and think about what just happened.”

Dobrev revealed to Teen Vogue that she has made some changes to her diet. “The older I get, the more I realize that the more healthy you are in your choices, like I probably eat more now. So I have a higher caloric intake throughout the day, and I feel better.”

For Hewitt, fitness is all about variety. “I try to switch it up a bit,” she told OK! Magazine. “I’ve found that if every week I do something different it tricks my muscles into not getting used to doing any one thing. I’ve been doing pilates, I’ve been doing yoga, I’ve done just plain old walking. I wear 10 pound weights on my ankles while I’m working just so that as I’m moving during the day I’m constantly building muscle. It’s not great for your back but I’m doing it anyway. I do a booty workout thing that I just did for Shape, which was really fun. And I do Zumba. I have DVDs and I dance around like a crazy person in my house.”

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”
