Nina Dobrev knows how to have it all. Besides a thriving career in Hollywood, the star of The Vampire Diaries and Fam also enjoys some guilty pleasures—without the calories adding up, thanks to some smart dietary choices and targeted workouts. The results were on display this weekend, when she posted a photo of herself on Instagram in a bikini—with a simple bikini emoji as the caption. Read on to see 5 ways Nina Dobrev stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bikini Photos!

1. She Juices

“When I’m sick or not feeling great, I’m all about the juices," says Dobrev. "It seems like the worse the taste, the better it is for you, so I do ginger, garlic, cayenne pepper, oregano oil—ugh, double ugh— lemon, everything.” She also adds collagen peptides for a bit of protein, according to Well+Good.

2. She Loves to Workout

“I just love working out,” she told Women’s Health. She’ll do yoga, a gym workout, boxing and mix it up. “I’m getting older and more conscious of what I eat and how I eat it and what I do,” she says. “Doing something different [each day] has been the most fun, and I’ve seen the most benefit because you shock your system.”

3. She Works Out Her Core

One of Dobrev’s go-to workout moves is glute bridges with tricep extensions, as seen in an Instagram video shared by trainer to the stars Harley Pasternak. “One of my favorite Canadians @nina doing my absolute all-time favorite exercise,” Pasternak captioned the video. He told Self: “I love that it’s incredibly efficient,” and the magazine notes that it “targets two very important posterior chain muscles (muscles on the back of the body), the butt and triceps,” and Pasternak adds it “requires very little equipment” and “because you’re lying on your back, your heart rate really never gets too high” so you can focus on the muscles.

4. She Snacks on This

"There was a period of time where I was working with a trainer who told me you have to eat every two hours so your metabolism keeps working, so that's kind of how I live my life," says Dobrev, according to Eat This, Not That!, which adds that “she says that her preferred snacks include almonds, Made Good gluten-free granola, and Smart Treats gummy candy.” "They look like Swedish Fish and they kind of taste like Swedish Fish, but they're, to me, guilt-free because they don't have really high sugars in them," Dobrev explains.

5. She Co-Created Her Own Guilt-Free Wine

Along with Julianne Hough, Dobrev co-created her own line of wine that is low in calories. “I loved wines that were both bold and smooth. But to be honest, I had a really hard time drinking wine because … they would be filled with sugar and other additives that would make me super hungover. That’s why I wanted to create something I could enjoy and actually consume without feeling guilty or have harmful consequences! That’s what Fresh Vine Wine is for me,” she told Guest of a Guest.

Nina Dobrev, star of the Netflix hit Love Hard, was with boyfriend Shaun White at the Olympic games, cheering on the legend—but on social media, she was underwater, swimming with sharks. Dobrev was just one of many celebs who shared photos of themselves from tropical locales—in her case, on a tour with One Ocean Diving, in a throwback photo. We also spotted Ashanti in paradise, Dua Lipa and Chantel Jeffries in Miami, and many more. How do they all stay so fit while keeping so busy? Read on to see all the ways these celebrities stay in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. Nina Dobrev

nina-dobrev-1Nina Dobrev/Instagram

When it comes to her diet, Dobrev says that she has changed her outlook on eating in recent years. “I used to eat three full meals and then I would not be able to move after each meal,” she told Shape. “I would be so full and tired. Now, I eat all the time but portion control is what’s important for me—I’m eating more in total but not more at a time.” "A portion is the amount of food you put on your plate, while a serving is an exact amount of food. To get a better handle on what you're eating, you could carry around measuring cups. Or you could use everyday objects as reminders of appropriate serving sizes, which is what the Mayo Clinic Diet recommends," says the Mayo Clinic. "Many foods match up to everyday objects. For example, a medium pepper is about the size of a baseball and equals one vegetable serving. While not all foods match visual cues, this method can help you become better at gauging serving sizes and practicing portion control."

2. Ananya Panday

Actress Ananya Panday wore a tight yellow dress to advertise her latest film, Gehraiyaan, on Amazon Prime video on Instagram—and also shared a trailer from the movie. In addition to being an actress, Panday has also launched her own fitness program. She posted this Instagram video of herself doing some of her favorite exercises, and wrote in the caption, “I have SO many workouts for exercising at home with no equipment or at the gym, and they are going to make working out together so much fun!”

3. Luisa Collins

Luisa Collins enjoyed a drink in a jacuzzi this week, and she broke out her leopard print swimsuit to do so. When it comes to losing weight, Collins told the Daily Star that she likes to take supplements to prevent her from snacking too much. “When I take a Forza Raspberry Ketone in the morning and afternoon, my snacking habits are being curbed. They are like willpower in pill form. I feel more energized and taking the capsules has not really affected my lifestyle at all.”

4. Ashanti

Singer Ashanti wore a floral bikini and posed poolside on Instagram this week. In 2019, while promoting her film Stuck, she revealed to People that she made a lot of changes to her diet. “I cut out a lot of meat,” she said. “I think again, self-health and self-awareness are so important. All of that stuff is so important to maintaining your body, knowing what’s in your food, the GMO’s and the chemicals, and I’m super aware of this stuff.”

5. Brooke Burke

Brooke Burke advertised her workout program on Instagram this week, and she posted several stunning photos, showing off her toned body. The program Burke is advertising is designed to target your entire body, specifically your abs, legs, and butt. Burke posted a reel of herself doing her workout with some of her friends, captioning it, “Move, sweat, change.”

6. Dua Lipa

Singer Dua Lipa took a trip to Miami this week with her friends, model Sarah Lysander, and talent manager Bashir Arab-Sanchez. She posted several stunning poolside photos on her Instagram story. Lipa is also kicking off her “Future Nostalgia” tour, but she says that she still makes time to workout while she’s on the road and traveling. “When I have a tiny bit more time on my side I love mixing up lots of different training, finding different workouts in whatever city I’m in, whether it’s yoga, Pilates, boxing or spinning,” she told The Urban List. “Whatever it is, I try to change it up every day to keep things interesting. When you’re on a tour bus, every day and every place is different, so you never know what you’re going to find. That’s always one way to keep it interesting.”

7. Chantel Jeffries

Model and DJ Chantel Jeffries posted this bikini photo of herself and her friend, Cindy Kimberly, as they lounged on a pool chair. In a video for Pretty Little Thing, Jeffries revealed that she switches up her workouts to keep herself interested. “I like to hike, I like to skate, swimming, so that’s something to keep me motivated,” she said.

8. Sommer Ray

Fitness influencer Sommer Ray posted a gorgeous photo on Instagram of herself in a red bikini. Ray tells Life&Style magazine that she believes a healthy diet is the most important part of losing weight and staying in shape. "Diet is key. Diet plays a huge role in fitness. A lot of people go to the gym, work out really hard, then don't follow up with a good lifestyle. You can't expect a flower to grow without any water. Work out, but also take care of yourself.” Ray even has her own app where people can put in what they eat each day, and it will calculate the food’s nutritional value.

9. Teddi Mellencamp

After spending time in the Celebrity Big Brother house, Mellencamp revealed on Instagram that she had gained some weight and had slipped up on her diet. However, now that she’s home, Mellencamp says that she is making a healthy diet and lifestyle a main priority, but is not doing so to lose the weight she gained. “IT’S NOT ABOUT A NUMBER ON THE SCALE BUT HOW I FEEL WHEN I AM EATING CLEAN AND TAKING CARE OF MY BODY AND MIND - MY ANXIETY DECREASES,” she wrote. “TODAY I AM POSTING TO HOLD MYSELF ACCOUNTABLE TO MAKING MY OVERALL HEALTH A PRIORITY AGAIN. *even those of us who are “fitness influencers” go through different stages in our journeys.”

10. Alessandra Ambrosio

alessandra-ambrosio-1Alessandra Ambrosio/Instagram

Despite being a swimsuit model, Ambrosio tells Elle that she isn’t afraid to indulge once in a while. She says that she prioritizes a balanced diet rather than a restrictive one. “Obviously I try not to splurge on pasta, but if I'm back in Brazil where everything is pasta- or bread-based—and so yummy—I'll eat whatever I want, then go back to lots of salads and chicken or fish with veg as soon as I'm back in L.A."

11. Eugenie Bouchard

Tennis star Eugenie Bouchard enjoyed a trip to Miami this week, and one of the things she did while she was there was spend time on a boat. The main way Bouchard stays in shape is by playing tennis, however, she does do other exercises to stay healthy. Bouchard suffered a shoulder injury, and is doing exercises to help rehab it. She posted this reel on Instagram of herself doing a hydrotherapy session, and also posted this reel of herself doing arm workouts.

1. She Snowboards

Making funny videos on Instagram is not the only thing Dobrev loves to do in the snow. She is also an avid snowboarder, and has posted photos of her on the slopes on Instagram. Dobrev is also dating professional snowboarder Shaun White, so the two of them might like to board together.

2. She Works Out With Her Friends

Dobrev says to Harper’s Bazaar that she loves to work out and go to classes with her friends. “Before dinner we often meet up at a Les Mills (fitness) class together - my favorite is Grit - or a dance class, or go to the gym. We'll detox and then retox."

3. She Makes Healthy Smoothies

Dobrev broke down her favorite meals to Harper’s Bazaar, where she revealed that she has a go-to smoothie recipe. "I make the same shake for breakfast every single morning: Sunwarrior protein powder, the chocolate flavor, half a banana, coconut peanut butter that I have shipped in from Hawaii, almond milk, spinach, kale, and cinnamon.”

4. She Thinks About Portions

Dobrev revealed to Shape that she is now a lot more conscious about her portion sizes, and that it has helped her stay alert and active. "I used to eat three full meals and then I would not be able to move after each meal. I would be so full and tired. Now, I eat all the time but portion control is what's important for me-I'm eating more in total but not more at a time.”

5. She Strength Trains

Dobrev also told Shape that she has started to do strength training exercises, and she’s seeing results. "I actually did not do a lot of [strength training] in the past-I only did yoga and ran in terms of training. Strength training with weights and such a regimented schedule has been new to my life, and now that I understand the way it all works, the science behind it, it's changed everything for me.”

Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev is proof you can have a balanced approach to health and fitness, and still look incredible. The 33-year-old actress posted a photo of herself wearing a one piece swimsuit with pants and a shirt on top, captioning the shot “❣️❣️❣️.” "So beautiful," said one commenter. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 6 ways Dobrev stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She Has An At-Home Gym

Dobrev put together an at-home gym so she could continue to work on her fitness during the COVID-19 pandemic. "I started slowly, over time, accumulating equipment and things that I could use to move my workouts at home," Dobrev told Shape. "When I'm done shooting and I have to memorize the next day's work, I can sit on the bike with my script and exercise, and learn my lines for the next day. I'm really proud of my home gym, I use it a lot. It's really nice to have that flexibility of working out, whether it's really early in the morning before I go to set, or really late at night when I get home from set, or after a long flight."

2. “Mama Needs Some Coffee”

Cup,Of,Espresso,CoffeeShutterstock

Dobrev starts her day with “some real strong, strong coffee,” she tells Harper’s Bazaar. “I do a shot of espresso and then I do a regular coffee and I mix them together.” Coffee has been shown to have protective benefits for the liver—but there’s an important caveat. “We have a lot of evidence that coffee is good for the liver,” says liver specialist Jamile Wakim-Fleming, MD. “You have to consume regular coffee — not decaf — daily to get the liver benefits. There’s something inherent about caffeine that is helpful to the liver.”

3. She Free-Dives With Sharks

amfAR Gala Cannes 2022 - ArrivalsLionel Hahn/Getty Images

Dobrev loves free-diving with sharks and is an outspoken proponent of shark conservation. “If you’ve been following me for a while you know how much I love free diving with sharks,” she captioned an Instagram video. “I used to be afraid of them until I got into the water to try to get over my fear. That's when I realized how uninterested in humans they are. Since then, I've gotten to be in the water with so many different kinds of sharks, and it’s been a dream of mine to swim with Tiger sharks specifically, which I FINALLY got to do with @oceanramsey & @juansharks.”

4. She Loves Bread

Celebrities Visit SiriusXM - March 5, 2020Astrid Stawiarz/Getty Images

Dobrev is not interested in a carb-free lifestyle—the actress loves to eat bread. “Sometimes you eat the bread basket, and sometimes the bread basket eats you 🥖,” she captioned a tongue-in-cheek Instagram snap. “Traditional sourdough undergoes a slow fermentation process, the result of which is an increase in the bioavailability of the bread’s vitamins and minerals,” says registered nutritionist Nicola Shubrook. “This process also starts the breakdown of protein (including gluten), making sourdough easier to digest. Research suggests that the fermentation process improves the bioavailability of fiber and minerals. This is because a naturally occurring compound found in grains, called phytic acid, is broken down and this enables us to access the grain’s nutrients more readily.”

5. She’s a Yogi

"Run This Town" Canadian PremiereGeorge Pimentel/Getty Images

Dobrev has a background in gymnastics and is a regular practitioner of yoga. “Despite popular belief, yoga is more than just a physical practice—yoga is a complete program of how to live in the world,” board-certified internal medicine physician and registered yoga teacher Ingrid Yang, MD, tells SELF. “You never hold any posture for too long; therefore, if you dislike a posture, you know you’ll get to move on soon enough. And if you love a posture, you learn to let it go because you cannot dwell in only the things you like—the next posture will be called out soon enough. Thus, it teaches us the natural rhythms of life. When you are uncomfortable, you learn to sit with discomfort because you know it will pass. When you are joyful and want to hold onto something, you learn to let it go because things inevitably change.”

6. She Mixes Up Her Workouts

Louis Vuitton's "200 Trunks, 200 Visionaries: The Exhibition"Phillip Faraone/WireImage

Dobrev loves to mix up her workouts, enjoying a “workout cocktail” of running, yoga, boxing, weight training, and walking her dog, Maverick. “I’m getting older and more conscious of what I eat and how I eat it and what I do,” she says. “Doing something different [each day] has been the most fun, and I’ve seen the most benefit because you shock your system. I need to sweat every single day somehow, even if it’s just in the steam room. Some days are better than others, I’ll be honest with you. Some days, Maverick gets a shorter walk than she probably deserves, if I’m running late or don’t have it together or press the snooze button 18 times too many.”

Nina Dobrev is sharing an update with fans and followers about an e-bike accident that left her recovering in hospital with a neck brace. Dobrev, 35, shared before and after pictures of the incident—one of her wearing black Alo Yoga workout gear riding a bike, and the second of her in the hospital. “How it started vs how it’s going 🤕,” she captioned the post. “That’s my girl! 🫠Obviously wouldn’t make jokes if you were not ok,” commented Julianne Hough. “I’m ok but it’s going to be a long road of recovery ahead,” she captioned an Instagram story selfie. Best wishes to Dobrev—let’s hope she’s back into her regular routine as soon as possible. Here’s what it looks like.

1. Puppy Love

Dobrev stays fit with the help of her beloved pup Maverick. “We travel a ton and Maverick comes with me everywhere,” she told New Beauty. “Whether it’s New York or LA or somewhere else, being with her is great exercise for me. It’s obviously important exercise for her, too. It’s a great way to get out of the house and have a moment to decompress. I like to put on some music while I walk her, and it’s kind of like a meditation and a great bonding moment for us.”

2. Daily Meditation

Dobrev started meditating during the pandemic lockdowns. “I’ve always wanted to get into meditation, but never had time for it,” she told Vogue. “If I’m being honest, I never made time for it. I was allergic to the concept and didn’t understand what all the hype is about, Now, I have nothing but time, and no excuses. During quarantine, I started doing a quick 15-minute meditation every morning, first thing when I wake up. It’s changed everything, and has really helped set the tone for my day.”

3. Normalizing Imperfections

Dobrev wants to normalize people showing imperfections with their looks. “I get pimples and zits all the time and I deal with them just like anybody else, with zit cream,” she told The Skincare Edit. “Sometimes I walk out of the house with the zit cream and forget about it. And that's just life, it’s unpredictable and awkward and we all feel insecure all the time but that’s completely normal and okay, and everybody has good days and bad days. It’s especially important now to show young girls that and to make them aware that they are perfect exactly the way they are.”

4. Summer Beauty

Dobrev is a big fan of Selena Gomez’s highlighter. “There are some products that I really love for the summer,” she told New Beauty. “And I just cut bangs! So, I’ve been using the Kevin Murphy’s spray in my hair. Selena Gomez has her Rare Beauty highlighter and it is amazing. I’ve been mixing it into my foundation to get a glow, but I also love putting it all over my skin, too. It’s really a great body makeup as well.”

5. Sunblock Every Day

Dobrev never skips sunblock. “The last step of my skincare before I apply my makeup is Supergoop!’s Unseen Sunscreen,” she told The Skincare Edit. It’s super, super important to wear sunscreen to protect yourself from potentially skin cancer. It’s sort of like a primer as well for your makeup, so your makeup stays on better.”

Mariana Morais is showing off her ab-fab figure – in a two-piece exercise set. In a new social media post, the fitness influencer flaunts her fantastic figure in a brown sports bra and leggings. “Self Progress & Development is not always linear. Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. It’s you VS you - continue to try, focus on consistency > perfection & you will prevail 🤎 rooting for us all to strengthen our mind & bodies this year,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Pilates

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.

Trying to get them in consistently because you only get married once and I want to feel my best. But this past season it was just hard being so far away from my normal routine and where I typically live."

Culpo has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it, even while traveling. “I don't wear any makeup when traveling," she says to Travel + Leisure. "That's one rule because I do feel like you will have a higher chance of breaking out if you are wearing a full face of makeup. A few things I always have with me is some sort of a spray. I love Dr. Barbara Sturm or Caudalie or La Mer. I also absolutely love traveling with a makeup wipe, the Neutrogena wipes are great. Something to just take off the sweat you build up.”

Culpo shared her skincare routines with Byrdie. She says that she keeps her morning and night routine simple. “I am always trying out new products, so what I gravitate toward is often changing. At night, I usually use an oil and a serum. Right now, I love the Clarins Double Serum. In the morning, I use a Vitamin C serum and an SPF, and, typically, I just rinse my skin with warm water instead of using a cleanser. It is something I swear by—it allows for the oils on my skin from sleeping to absorb naturally.”

Culpo shared some of her favorite skincare products with Byrdie. She says that she uses ones that have vitamins in them. “I have noticed a huge difference in my skin with vitamin C and E. I love the Good Janes H2OMyGod Moisturizer—it's sort of an all-in-one moisturizer that has vitamin C and collagen peptides. As for vitamin E, I actually just purchase the oil from the drugstore. It is super cheap and great to put on any red marks I may get from an occasional breakout. The healing process is so much quicker when I am using Vitamin E oil.”

Culpo makes sure to eat healthy. She shared some of the snacks she packs with her with Travel + Leisure. "I love the Kind bars. I love any sort of nuts, to be honest with you. They are a go-to snack for me. I would say Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% and some almonds would be perfect! Also, electrolytes to stay hydrated or some sort of collagen beauty powder or something."

Abigail Ratchford’s amazing body has helped her become one of the most famous models on the internet. The 32-year-old, who boasts over 9.1 million followers on Instagram alone, attributes her measurement-defying body to a few simple habits. Here is everything she does to stay fit at 32.

She Follows 4 Diet Rules

Abigail swears that abiding by simple rules helps her stay in shape. “I can’t diet. That just doesn’t work for me,” she told New Beauty. “I started to be healthier by first cutting out soda. Then, I stopped eating after 7 p.m. Finally, I started really watching my portions so I was eating fewer calories every day. And water—lots and lots of water.”

She UsesMyFitnessPal

Abigail explains being accountable for what she eats is crucial. While it’s not “rocket science,” she does use the MyFitnessPal app to track her eating. “I’m the type of person who likes to eat what I want. The app can help anyone do that—you can still eat great food, you just eat less of it,” she added New Beauty.

Pilates

Abigail is a fan of Pilates. “Group workout classes are so big right now, but I always get nervous around other people in settings like that. I have to go at my own pace without a bunch of distractions so, for me, Pilates with a one-on-one instructor works best. It’s not cheap, but then you also aren’t tempted to skip,” she said She added to Men’s Fitness via Muscle & Fitness that the workout “keeps you long and lean” — and the Mayo Clinic agrees. They say it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Balanced Diet

“I love green juices and smoothies. Sometimes I’ll put some protein powder in the morning—I feel like the mix of vegetables, and vitamins and stuff that’s in them, really gives me a lot of energy in the morning. I love BBQ food—my ultimate cheat is a pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries, and macaroni and cheese from this great place in LA,” she told Men’s Fitness.

Strength Training

Ratchford also lifts weights. “Initially, I made the mistake that a lot of girls do and I was only doing cardio. I just really didn’t see too much change in my body. I’ve been listening to my girlfriends who are in great shape and they say you have to do weight training, you have to go in and do squats. That’s my new thing—I’ve been doing some resistance training, circuit training,” she told Men’s Fitness. The Mayo Clinic explains that strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

Develop strong bones

Manage your weight

Enhance your quality of life

Manage chronic conditions

Sharpen your thinking skills
