1. Cardio and Weights
Flowers trains with Eric Johnson of Trifecta Athletics, who helped her come up with an ideal exercise routine. “I appreciate a structured plan when it comes to working out,” she says. “My schedule can be a little all over the place, so I find comfort in having consistency in fitness.”
2. Tennis and Running
Flowers loves to play tennis or go for a run as fun ways to stay active. “Running has shown to improve heart health, assist with weight loss, and improve mood,” according to the experts at Harvard Health. “Worried about your joints? Some studies have found that running may actually improve the health of aging knees and ease symptoms of osteoarthritis like joint pain and stiffness.”
3. Lots of Hiking
Flowers enjoys going on challenging yet beautiful hikes whenever she can. “Like all forms of exercise, hiking is one of the best ways to lose weight and is a method of stabilizing cholesterol levels,” says the American Hiking Society. “On average, you burn 100 calories for every mile you walk.”
4. Green Juice
Flowers enjoys the occasional green juice, which can offer health benefits to those who avoid vegetables. “There's no scientific evidence that extracted juices are healthier than the juice you get by eating the fruit or vegetable itself,” says Katherine Zeratsky, RD, LD. “But if you don't enjoy eating fruits and vegetables, juicing may be a way to add them to your diet or to try fruits and vegetables you might not eat.”
5. Skincare For Melasma
Flowers has melasma, which causes dark spots on patches on the skin. Flowers uses creams and laser treatments to stay on top of the condition. "I was starting to notice it in some of my pictures, and so were a couple [of] other people, actually — I had a doctor in my comments ask me when I was going to 'shave my 'stache!'" she says.
