1

She Surfs

Spending time in the pool isn't the only aquatic physical activity Bowen enjoys doing. She also likes to ride the waves on her board, even if she isn't the best at it. Bowen posted this series of beach photos on Instagram of herself and her husband surfing at the beach in North Devon. She humorously captioned the photo, "Fell off 100 times." Surfing is not just a great way to workout, it is also a way to help motivate you to train harder. According to the Center For Surf Research, "Many surfers are more motivated to exercise outside of the water in order to surf in bigger conditions. Big wave surfers train constantly to be able to hold their breath and paddle long distances. Similarly, even the average surfer is more likely to stretch before and after a surf, which promotes muscle recovery and flexibility."

She also posted this selfie of herself with a horse, captioning it, "My half tonne soulmate." Horseback riding can also have a positive impact on your mental health. "The term hippotherapy refers to how occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech-language pathology professionals use evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning in the purposeful manipulation of equine movement as a therapy tool to engage sensory, neuromotor and cognitive systems to promote functional outcomes," says the American Hippotherapy Association.

Bowen tells The Sun that she aims to work out as often as she can, even with her busy schedule. She says that her goal is to hit the gym at least three days a week. "I work out when I can but mainly three times a week," she says. Bowen and her husband also love to work out together, which is not only a great couple's activity, but a great way to stay motivated and remember to workout. She Enjoys the Endorphin Rush

One of Bowen's ways of staying motivated to exercise? Actually enjoying it. She tells The Sun that she actually likes working out, and likes the way it makes her feel. "When I work out I feel a lot better about myself and the release of endorphins gives me a happy energy that's incomparable," she says. "That gives me an extra boost of confidence, not only in my body but also my head space." She's right: "Physical activity may help bump up the production of your brain's feel-good neurotransmitters, called endorphins. Although this function is often referred to as a runner's high, any aerobic activity, such as a rousing game of tennis or a nature hike, can contribute to this same feeling," says the Mayo Clinic.
