The latter was on display on social media yesterday; O’Brien just posted a new set of bathing suit shots today from her vacation to Mexico. Read on to see 5 ways Olivia O’Brien stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She Channels Her Negativity Into Music

O’Brien, like many other songwriters, likes to draw from her personal experiences to write songs. She tells Cosmopolitan that she would channel her negative experiences into lyrics. “I used to write pretty much only about when I was sad and when I was going through something that was really hard for me,” she said.

2. She Has A Lot Of Support

In an interview with OnesToWatch.com, O’Brien talked about how she achieved fame. She says that she’s lucky to be on a good label and have a lot of supportive people around her. “I think if I didn't have my label and those people helping me, I would literally still be living in Napa and wouldn't be doing music. Because ‘i hate u, i love u’ was the only song that I released.”

3. She Pushed Herself

O’Brien tells OnesToWatch.com that she really pushed herself when it comes to her career. She says that this helped with her success. “If I hadn't got on it, and told myself, ‘I want to do this now,’ I wouldn't be anywhere, and that song would've just came and passed. I would've just been left behind. So I'm happy that I had the initiative and went for it.”

4. She Moved Past The Bullying

O’Brien is open about the amount of bullying she faced when she was young. However, she tells OnesToWatch.com that she has moved past it, as she knows more important things are ahead. “Even though it's really impossible, you have to realize that high school and elementary school, middle school, whatever… in the end, you're going to be past that and have a completely separate life from that. Yeah, growing up is important and the memories you make are important, but the people that are mean probably aren't really going to go anywhere in life - because they're mean and there's obviously something going on with themselves. So you just have to remember that. Remember that one day you'll be 35 and think, 'Wow, I can't believe I ever let those dumb people affect my life.'"

5. She Swims

O’Brien loves to spend time in the water. She has posted several photos and videos on Instagram of herself enjoying time at the beach and going for a swim. She posted this video on Instagram of herself enjoying a pool day while on her Mexico vacation. O’Brien captioned the video, “What happens in slayulita, slays in slayulita.”
