Garner told The Cut that her strength and success is inspired by the women in her family. Garner also told Vanity Fair that the pandemic has required her to start cooking more often, especially since her favorite restaurants were closed. She says, “I LOVE TO COOK and have been cooking a lot! I’ve found something I love other than acting!” While Garner admits some of her favorite recipes aren’t always the healthiest, she says that she only makes them on special occasions. She added: “I make a really good lasagna that my grandmother taught me how to make, but it’s not the healthiest, so that’s for a special occasion. I cooked mussels and shakshuka recently. My mother is Israeli, so I really love Middle Eastern foods and have been cooking a lot of that lately. I also made key lime pie! I don’t really like to bake as much. I’ve loved Ina Garten since I was a little girl, so I get a lot of my recipes from her.”
