Katie Moon, an accomplished pole vaulter, has achieved remarkable success in her career, including gold and silver medals at the 2020 and 2024 Olympics and World Championship titles in 2022 and 2023. Recently, she shared a reflective interview with Team Essx on Instagram, where she discussed her journey, overcoming fears, and her passion for the sport. Katie’s approach to fitness and wellness includes sprinting, working with a dietician, and supporting mental health causes, all while maintaining a grounded and balanced outlook. Here’s a closer look at how she stays in top form and continues to inspire others.

She Works With A Dietician

Moon revealed her diet secrets in this Instagram video. She says that she worked with a dietician to help her eat better. Moon captioned the post, “I touched on this at the end of the video, but please talk to a dietitian if your wanting to figure out the right diet for you. What works for me may not work for you, and vice versa. It has taken me years of trial and error to figure out what works, and I’m still having fun and experimenting with it. 🤗”

She Has Support

Moon talked about how her family is supportive of her in an interview with Team USA. “I think the things that keep me centered are really my family. They keep me very humble and remind me that I'm still me. I still do embarrassing things all the time. They remind me that sport is what I do, its not who I am. Even if I had never gotten to the Olympics, they were still going to love me for who I am. So that really keeps me centered. At the end of the day, I can come home and have that inner-peace, knowing that I have that foundation of family and friends.”

She Sprints

In order to improve on her vaulting, Moon has to do a lot of running. She shared this video on Instagram of herself doing a sprint. Moon captioned the post. “How do you become a better pole vaulter? Become a better athlete. Sprinting and lifting are just as important as vault sessions.”

She Supports Mental Health Causes

Moon likes to support different causes. In this Instagram post, she partnered with the Ohio Opioid Education Alliance. Moon captioned it, “So excited to be partnering with @ohioopioideducationalliance again for their #beatthestigma campaign. Mental health is incredibly important to me, and I want to use my platform to help #beatthestigma around mental health and addiction! Please visit http://beatthestigma.org/ to learn more!”

She Doesn’t Get Overwhelmed

Moon shared her advice for not getting overwhelmed in competition in her Team USA interview. “Just go for it. Just count to three and go. Or don't even count, just do it. It's scary and it's big, but just take that step. Just take it one step at a time. Find those goals along the way to get to that big scary goal. And yeah, pretty cool things can happen if you just believe that you can do it.”
