1. She Drinks 10 Glasses of Water a Day
Chopra told the Times of India that she stays hydrated and drinks plenty of water and juice. "Also juices and water are very high on my intake list. In fact, water is a must for everyone, at least ten glasses a day. I often overshoot that, but it does wonders to your skin." Reda Elmardi, a Registered Dietician, Certified Nutritionist, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Trainer and owner of thegymgoat.com says, "Drinking 10 glasses of water daily can help you lose weight. Water helps your body flush out toxins and waste products that are stored in fat cells. When you drink enough water, your body has no choice but to release these toxins through urination. This causes you to have to go to the bathroom more often than usual, which results in having to eliminate more waste from your system. As a result, you'll start losing weight faster than normal.
Additional info:
- Water is the basis of life. Without water, we would not exist. We are composed of approximately 60% water. Our bodies need water to function properly. When we drink water, our body absorbs the liquid into our cells through osmosis. This helps flush out toxins from the cells and keeps us hydrated.
- Drinking water can make you feel fuller faster. If you drink eight ounces of water before eating, you may eat less because your stomach feels full faster. Also, drinking water causes you to burn calories slower than if you drank a sugary beverage like soda.
- Drinking water helps keep your skin healthy. Your skin needs moisture to stay soft and smooth. You should drink at least 8-10 glasses of water each day.
- Water helps your brain work better. When you are dehydrated, your brain doesn't function as well. You have trouble concentrating and making decisions.
- Water helps your muscles work better. Muscle cramps happen when you don't get enough water. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to prevent muscle cramping.
- Water helps your immune system fight off sickness. When you're sick, your body loses fluids. If you don't replace those fluids, you become weak and tired."
2. Works Out to Stay Tone and Not to Lose Weight

The 39-year-old also told the Times of India that she's not too concerned about losing weight. She said, "I am not a gym-freak, but do work out regularly to keep the body well-toned. The idea is to keep fit and healthy and not shrink myself by two or three sizes. I find that trend amongst celebrities disturbing, since a lot of kids and teenagers strive to attain our kind of figures, but without proper guidance. That could prove harmful in the long run. " Elmardi explains how this mindset is effective, "You are what you eat. The food we eat has a direct impact on our health. When you eat foods that are high in sugar, carbohydrates, and unhealthy fats, your body will store those calories as fat. This can lead to obesity and other diseases like diabetes. On the contrary, if you eat foods that are low in these types of calories, your body will burn them off instead of storing them. Your mind controls your body. Your thoughts control your emotions. Emotions affect how you feel about yourself and your life. If you constantly think negative things about yourself, your body will react to that negativity. Instead of thinking positive things about yourself, focus on your strengths and accomplishments. Exercise is good for your brain. Exercise helps improve memory and concentration. A study showed that people who exercised regularly had better cognitive function than those who didn't. Exercise also increases blood flow to the brain, which makes it easier to learn and remember information."
3. She Avoids Oily Foods

In the same interview with the Times of India Chopra explained she does avoid oily foods. "I love eating ghar ka khana and am non-fussy about food. So no diet plans for me at all. What I do try to avoid is oily food. I don't have that in excess." Elmardi says avoiding oily foods is a good choice for the following reasons:
- "Oily foods are high in calories and low in nutritional value. They can cause weight gain and lead to obesity.
- Oily food contains saturated fats that increase cholesterol levels in your body. This causes blockage in blood vessels and increases risk of heart disease.
- Oily foods contain trans fats, which have been linked to cancer.
- Oily foods are often high in sodium content. Sodium is known to raise blood pressure.
- Oily foods tend to be high in sugar content. Sugar has no nutritional value and can cause tooth decay.
- Oily foods are usually processed and packaged using chemicals like hydrogenated oils, artificial flavors, and preservatives. These ingredients can cause health problems."
4. She Eats Plenty of Fruits and Veggies

The actress loads up on fruits and veggies and told the Times of India, "My daily diet consists of regular food like chapati, vegetables, soups, salads, rice, dal and lots of fruits." Elmardi reveals the reasons why eating plenty of fruits and vegetables is a healthy choice.
- "Fruits are packed with vitamins and minerals that are necessary for your body's proper functioning. They contain antioxidants that protect against free radicals, which can cause damage to cells and DNA. Antioxidants neutralize these harmful compounds before they do any harm.
- Vegetables provide fiber, which helps keep your digestive system running smoothly. Fiber also keeps your blood sugar levels stable, which prevents cravings for sweets.
- Fruits and vegetables give you energy throughout the day. Eating fruits and veggies gives you energy without making you feel sluggish like sugary foods tend to do.
- Fruits and veggies are low in calories and high in water content. This means that they fill you up but don't add too many extra pounds.
- You get vitamins and minerals from fruits and veggies that you just can't find in other food sources. Vitamin C, for example, is only found in citrus fruits.
- Fruits and veggies have a lot of flavors. When you eat them, you taste them instead of having to rely on artificial flavors."

While Chopra admits she's not a "gym-freak," she does workout and it's usually for an hour each time. She told the Times of India, "I also do yoga and find it both relaxing and very energizing. It's great to keep your mind and body healthy. It's definitely something I would recommend. My gym work-outs usually last for about an hour." Elmardi states, "Exercise has been proven time and again to help people live longer healthier lives. It can improve your mood, increase energy levels, reduce stress, boost your immune system, and even help you lose weight. But did you know that exercise also helps keep your brain healthy? In fact, just 30 minutes of moderate exercise a day can significantly slow down cognitive decline."
