Laxmi is a proud feminist, and is outspoke about sexism faced in the film and acting world. She tells The Hindu, "I wouldn't mind seeing a female cinematographer. But if the director is a man, there are a lot of restrictions to the way he would talk on the set, especially if he has a female senior technician on the floor. These are some reasons people don't take a chance [with women]. It is not a great reason but people in the industry are way more casual and they always want to be in their comfort space. When a woman enters the picture, the guy thinks he cannot control it and then the work space becomes diplomatic."
