1. She Loves Tabata Workouts
Madan is a big fan of Tabata, a type of HIIT workout. “It will jump your heart rate up pretty quickly,” says exercise physiologist Katie Lawton, MEd. “These are going to feel like very long minutes. There is a lot of effort packed into a short time – and you’re going to feel it.” One benefit of Tabata is that no equipment is needed. “You can do Tabata in your hotel room,” Lawton says.
2. She Is Realistic About Healthy Relationships
Madan is looking for love—but is realistic about what that looks like. “For me, right now, pyaar dosti nahi hai (love is not friendship) but you know, you need to accept the person wholly,” she tells FilmFare. “You need to accept their grays as well, not just the black and white. When you accept someone as a person completely, woh pyaar hota hai (that’s love). So that definition for me has changed a lot. Earlier, it was a checklist of how they looked, what flowers they sent. When you learn from life, your definition changes.”
3. She Loves To Dance
“When I was in 8th grade, I got into dancing. I used to stand at the back in the class and look at the floor while dancing,” Madan says. “One day, my instructor pulled me to the front and asked me to look at myself in the mirror. I was never the same person after that. It just gave me that confidence. Dancing made me realize that there is a light within me which nobody can extinguish and then I just carried on.”
4. She Enjoys Watermelon
Madan loves to eat watermelon, which is not only delicious but highly nutritious. “Thanks to its high-water content watermelon has a low-calorie density, this means a large slice of watermelon has a relatively small calorie contribution,” says registered nutritionist Nicola Shubrook. “Eating foods, like this, which are both filling but low in calories appears to help promote fullness and reduce appetite. The pink-red flesh of the watermelon tells us its rich in compounds called carotenoids, including beta-carotene, which we convert to vitamin A. Often called pro-vitamin A, beta-carotene, helps keep our eyes and skin healthy.”
5. She Practices Yoga
Madan is a devotee of yoga, which experts say has both mental and physical benefits. "It packs a powerful punch," says Maren Nyer, an instructor in psychology at Harvard Medical School and director of yoga studies at Harvard- affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital. "You're getting more than just one thing. You get strength and flexibility training, as well as a form of meditation that prepares you to be more mindful the rest of your day."
