1

Boxing

Deshpande shares videos of herself doing boxing-based workouts. "Fitness boxing is also a great aerobic exercise," says Harvard Health. "Aerobic exercise gets your heart pumping and helps lower the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and diabetes."

2

Stretching Exercises

Deshpande makes sure to do some stretching every day. "You may hurt yourself if you stretch cold muscles," says the Mayo Clinic. "Before stretching, warm up with light walking, jogging or biking at low intensity for 5 to 10 minutes. Even better, stretch after your workout when your muscles are warm."

3

Yoga

Deshpande incorporates mat yoga sessions into her wellness routine. "Yoga offers physical and mental health benefits for people of all ages," says Johns Hopkins Medicine. "And, if you're going through an illness, recovering from surgery or living with a chronic condition, yoga can become an integral part of your treatment and potentially hasten healing."

Deshpande loves riding a bike around, especially when she's on vacation in cities such as Amsterdam. "It's been shown that cycling reduces anxiety and depression," says Jaclyn Kubiak, PT, DPT. "Mainly, because you can make it fun. You get the added benefit of being outdoors or you can go do it with friends. You can change the intensity for it yourself. It can be as easy as you want or as hard and enduring as you want."

5

Social Justice Work

Deshpande's social work is incredibly important to her. Studies show volunteering can be beneficial for mental health.  "I have a message for every human being, including the LGBTQI community," she says. "You should be kind – to yourself and to others. Be there for others. Listen. Talk. Tell people what's going on. Understand yourself and stay away from negativity and toxicity. What will help you is how kind you are to yourself or your body. Be true to yourself and follow what you feel like!"
