Keely Hodgkinson is one of the world’s top runners, making waves with her success and dedication. Known for her silver medal win at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and a triumphant gold in the 2024 Paris Olympics, Keely continues to inspire fans with her fierce work ethic and commitment. Recently, she shared a gym photo on Instagram, captioning it, “Working early, because I’m an athlete,” a nod to the popular Sabrina Carpenter song, “Espresso.” Whether on the track or in the gym, Keely’s routine shows the power of discipline and self-motivation in reaching athletic goals.

1. She Does A Variety Of Different Things

Hodgkinson shared her training schedule with Runner’s World. She says that she does a variety of different things. “It’s cross training on Mondays. On Tuesdays, I’ll do a session on the cross trainer and then I’ll do a track session. Wednesdays involve a 30-minute run and 40 minutes on the cross trainer, plus some gym work. Thursdays are similar to Tuesdays, but with maybe more of a tempo-type session. I always have Fridays off, then Saturdays in the winter will be a longer session and in the summer a track session. Sundays in the winter will be hills, and in the summer I’ll do a 15-minute run.”

2. She Eats Healthy

Hodgkinson shared her diet secrets with Runner’s World. “I'm not really a person who craves takeaways or things like that, because they just don’t make me feel very good. My friends will say, ‘Let’s get a Chinese,’ but I’d rather just eat a chocolate bar, to be honest – that’s my thing. So I eat pretty well, not so much because I have to, but more because I like to. I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables and good carbohydrates, but there will always be a chocolate bar, too. I think I need the calories, to be honest!”

3. She Accepts Herself

Hodgkinson talked about the importance of body positivity in an interview with Glamour. “There were definitely periods of time in my childhood when I thought, ‘I don’t want to be the muscly friend or the young girl with muscles.’ Back then – maybe even now still – it’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but that’s OK… there’s somebody out there for everybody. Everyone has a preference, and that’s fine. But I don’t think girls should shy away from being that, if that’s going to help them be the best of their ability and do what they want. You’ve got to learn to love your body, and I certainly have. I love my body, it can do these great things. So if that means I need to do more upper body [exercises], then that’s fine.”

4. She Focuses On Herself

Hodgkinson makes sure to focus on herself. She talked about this in an interview with ELLE. “You can’t get overly bothered about what everyone else is doing. I think that’s good [to remember] in every aspect of life, whether it’s how you look or what job you have – if you’re just comparing, you’re going to be miserable.”

5. She Improves Her Speed

Hodgkinson tells Runner’s World that she trains to improve her speed. “I’d say I almost train like a sprinter, but I think the 800m is getting towards that now. There’s a whole new science – a whole new perspective – on 800m training that says you actually need the speed, and it’s not about doing miles and miles. But then it depends on what kind of 800m runner you are – if you’re a 1500m and 800m runner, you’re going to run it differently from how a 400m and 800m runner is going to run it. It’s very interesting.”

Kara Saunders is putting her health first – in her workout gear. In a new social media post the CrossFit athlete shows off her fit figure in a two-piece exercise set while discussing the importance of prioritizing fitness. “I’ve been all kinds of busy lately and haven’t trained as consistently as usual or with any real purpose. I can confirm that life is definitely easier with more exercise!” she writes in the Instagram caption. “I’ve decided to use the holiday season to prioritise my fitness again. I’m not sure why the norm is to let yourself go and feel like a sad human marshmallow with a stomach ache at Christmas time 🤷🏽♀️ but I do not personally want that for myself. The way I see it, things slow down and there’s a little more time to play with, so why not use that time to get after feeling epic!”How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Warm Water in the Morning

Kara starts the day off by hydrating. “Every single morning, as soon as I wake up I have a glass of warm water. I like to stimulate my system after the rest and digest phase and gradually wake it up for the day,” she told Paleo Hero.

Fruits, Veggies, Meat, and Seafood

Kara Saunders shows a snap of her dinner.

Kara maintains a clean diet. “I pretty much live on fruit, vegetables, a variety of meat and seafood and then some little snacks here and there. I’m quite relaxed with what I eat and don’t need to be entertained by my food. If it’s healthy, clean and hasn’t been tampered with too much I am happy. When I’m competing, my nutrition might look a little different with oats or something like that added in there, but for the better part every meal (including breakfast) is made up of vegetables and meat,” she says.

Using Food as Medicine

Kara has a holistic approach to diet. “My background is in nutrition, so I use food as my medicine. I genuinely believe in utilizing nutrition to optimize your body’s functions and avoid significant health concerns and/or using medication. I have always lived this way. I purchase a range of proteins, fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds, and I rotate them throughout the week. I eat very simple foods with minimal components in each meal. I don’t think nutrition should be entertainment or torture. I don’t eat much-processed food, usually just on an odd occasion with my husband, and I exclude dairy and eggs from my diet entirely. This is partly due to intolerance and my beliefs about the adverse effects of consuming dairy. This is very personal, and I recommend people research what is right for them,” she told Muscle and Health.

She Also Has a Holistic Approach Health

“I have lived a holistic life for as long as I can remember,” she continued. “When we were sick in my family, we turned to food, sleep, mindfulness and exercise, which is precisely what Ultrahuman embodies in one place. I have created a series for anyone to show up each day and benefit from the movement the way I have for many years. I want to be there to help people live their best days, and I love how Ultrahuman provides all of the resources from each element to complement that.”

4 Hours of Training Per Day

Kara spends a lot of time in the gym. “I usually train twice per day for 2 hours on average per session. This might increase significantly in the competitive season and reduce a little in the off season,” she says. “My week is usually Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday as training days and Thursday as an active recovery day and Sunday as a full day of rest. Throughout the week my training varies to include Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics, running, rowing and riding and a lot of skill work within these domains. It's very well balanced and I don’t necessarily do each component every day.”

Kerly Ruiz is training her legs – in her two-piece workout gear. In a new social media post the fitness personality shows off her amazingly fit figure during an exercise session. “Workout of the day!! Here I leave you today's exercise for quadriceps!!” she captioned the Instagram post. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Here's What She Eats in a Day

Kerly shared a sample day of eating, starting with breakfast: 3 egg whites and 1 whole egg

30g of oats or 1/2 potatoes. Next up, a snack, a protein shake and 2 small Colombian potatoes. Then, for lunch she has 140g chicken with 100g rice and a green salad. For a snack she has 90g shrimp and zucchini vegetable pasta. And finally, for dinner she has 110g of fish with 1 egg and green salad.

Intermittent Fasting

In order to “lose weight, burn fat and get super fit” Kerly intermittent fasts, which she calls her eating method. Intermittent fasting works by “prolonging the period when your body has burned through the calories consumed during your last meal and begins burning fat,” explains Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Low Carb Diet

Kerly is on a low carb diet, she told El Estimulo, revealing she only eats “light” sandwiches. “I try not to eat a lot of bread because it makes my belly bigger, but when I can, I use whole wheat bread. I try to combine it with protein, which is very important to maintain muscle. I like to put some dressings that give flavor to the sandwich so that the diet is pleasant and I don't get bored,” she says. “Olives, avocado, olive oil, alfalfa, whole wheat toast, a grilled chicken breast and a little mustard, because it's the only dressing that doesn't have calories. No mayonnaise, no tomato sauce.”

She Counts Calories

“My diet only allows me a low-calorie sandwich, between 150 and 180 calories, which could be eaten mid-morning - I eat 6 times a day - because you can't eat carbohydrates at night. I try to find the right flavors, since I live on a diet. I put a little bit of what I have at home, avocado, which even though it has fat, it's the good kind, tomato too, so to speak, you can't overdo it either, and olive oil, which is a good fat for the body, skin, hair and nails,” she added.

No Mayo

One ingredient that she would never put in a sandwich? “Mayonnaise because I think that first of all it's greasy for the skin, it gives you acne and secondly it goes to your belly, your rolls. I don't like mayonnaise at all,” she said.

Olympic runner Colleen Quigley runs for a living—so it’s a good thing she has so much fun doing it. Quigley, 31, shared a video of herself wearing leggings and a sweatshirt, running on the beach with her Bernese Mountain Dog, Pie. “Pie is a true sprinter. She will go hard for about 10-15 sec then she needs full recovery before doing the next rep 🤣 . What I love most about Pie is that she is the best post-workout snuggle buddy and that’s really all I need from her! 🥰” she captioned the post. Here’s what Quigley’s diet and training routine looks like.

1. Breakfast of Champions

Quigley eats the same breakfast almost every day—oatmeal with unsweetened vanilla almond milk, and coffee with a tiny bit of creamer. “I eat lunch after all my morning workouts are done, which is usually around noon,” she told Runner’s World. “Breakfast food is my favorite, so I’ll usually throw together an egg scramble with plenty of vegetables and pulled chicken, then top it all with feta cheese and cilantro. I also love making two slices of toast with mashed avocado, two fried eggs, and a smoothie.”

2. Running Every Day

Colleen.Quigley .1Colleen Quigley/Instagram

Quigley’s training routine is as intense as you’d expect—she runs for 8 miles every day, and clocks in a 13 to 16 mile run on Sundays. She also swims, rides her bike, and does Pilates. “My favorite workouts involve speed! 200-meter repeats on the track with a lot of recovery is always fun because it's painful and wild — but it's over quick and you feel like you're flying!” she told Vital Proteins.

3. Mixing up Workouts

Colleen.Quigley.MainColleen Quigley/Instagram

Quigley recommends mixing up workouts to avoid boredom. “One of the biggest mistakes you can make is doing the same thing everyday,” she told WHOOP. “You get into ruts, and then you don’t feel motivated. Variety is what makes it fun, otherwise it’s boring. Mix it up. It’s better to be a well-rounded athlete and do things that challenge your endurance, strength, and speed, rather than doing the same thing all the time.”

4. Cooking Dinner

Colleen.Quigley.2Colleen Quigley/Instagram

Quigley loves food and cooking, often enjoying a glass of wine as she makes dinner. “I try to eat a good mix of protein, carbs, and fats at dinnertime,” she told Runner’s World. “Some of my go-to dishes are turkey burgers made with quinoa with sweet potato fries on the side; pizza made with a sweet potato crust and loaded up with veggies, chicken sausage, and cheese; and my dad’s yogurt fettuccine recipe, which I’ve made with all types of noodles (penne or shells are great) with roasted Brussels sprouts and a salad on the side.”

5. Advice For New Runners

Quigley has good advice for anyone new to running. “You do have to get in shape before it becomes fun,” she told WHOOP. “That means working through some of the beginning awkwardness, feeling heavy in your legs and tired, like you don’t know what you’re doing. You have to just push through that for a while before you feel that runner’s high,” she says. “I always tell people don’t lose heart if at first it’s not what you imagined. It doesn’t mean you’re a bad runner, it just means you haven’t done it enough yet. You just have to stick with it.”

Michelle Jenneke, the dynamic hurdler known for her spirited warm-up dance, has faced an unexpected hurdle of her own. Following her inspiring return to the Olympics in 2024, Jenneke encountered an injury requiring surgery. But last month, she shared a hopeful update on Instagram, captioned simply, “Back walking.” Her dedication to training shines through even amid recovery, as she revealed to Body & Soul: “I do three track sessions a week, and they can be from 2-3 hours each, which can be full on.” From intense track workouts to a balanced, protein-packed diet, Jenneke’s holistic approach to wellness keeps her grounded and resilient, showing fans that setbacks are just another obstacle on the track of life.

1. She Trains Three Times A Week

Jenneke shared some of her wellness secrets in an interview with Body & Soul. In it, she shared what her training sessions on the track look like. Jenneke makes sure to do her training on a regular basis. “I do three track sessions a week, and they can be from 2-3 hours each, which can be full on. You do some warm up, a hurdle session, and then a sprint session after that.”

2. She Does A Variety Of Workouts

Jenneke also shared what her gym days look like in her Body & Soul interview. She says that she does a lot of different things to stay fit. “It’s a lot of heavy weights there, plus full body exercises and quite a bit of plyometric [exercises]. I start with heavy weights, and then I’ll do some lighter functional circuit, towards the end. All up, that takes an hour and a half to two hours… and sometimes when I finish a session I just lie on the ground. I think to myself, ‘it’s just gym, why is it so hard?”

3. She Eats Healthy

Jenneke shared her diet in her Body & Soul interview. “I actually eat a lot,” she said. “I talk to my sister, and she says she has three meals a day – sometimes two if she’s busy – and I’m like ‘I have to eat six times a day! “It really depends on what my training day looks like, but if I’ve got training in the morning (which I often do at the moment) I’ll have cereal generally before I go out and train. Then, I actually love having a Milo after a hard session – it’s got good levels of protein and iron in it – and then I make myself a second breakfast, which could be muesli with yoghurt or bacon and eggs. Lunch is pretty basic – usually I just have a sandwich – and then for dinner I like to keep it simple. I have either some pasta or some rice with meat and veggies.”

4. She Pushes Herself

Jenneke makes sure to push herself when she trains, and that means having the right mindset and attitude toward it. She talked about the approach she takes in an interview with Kate Conklin. “I fall a lot in practice. Like, every training session. I’m always trying to push myself to go faster and do better and get as close the hurtle as I can, and when you do that, you hit them… I really like it when I fall over in training…It shows me that I’m doing the right thing.”

5. She Enjoys Her Sport

Jenneke doesn’t like to let her sport take over her life, and she makes sure to still enjoy it. "I think it is quite a big commitment, but if you think about it like that it's really going to wear you down and you're going to think about it being a big commitment and how it's taking over your life and that's not the way I like to look at it," Jenneke said on the Big Sports Breakfast. "I like to look at it as the fact that I compete in the hurdles and I train all this time because I love it so I go into all those sessions just thinking, 'It's not the hard work, I'm just going out and doing what I love.' I don't really let that weigh on me, I just try to enjoy myself."

Ana Zelu is a professional model and social media influencer. She is known for her content in nature. Zelu recently shared a post on Instagram of herself on a surfboard in the ocean. She captioned it, “Yesterday was such a fun shoot, I just had to share these with you 🤍 🛥️But picture number #4?? That photobomb totally got me 😂 Which picture is your favorite ?🌊”

She Swims

As you can see from her post, Zelu likes to swim. The Mayo Clinic states that swimming has a lot of benefits. “Swimming is often touted as a great workout for all ages, offering benefits not only for the body, but also for the mind. As a form of exercise, swimming keeps your heart rate up and builds muscle strength. It also can be a great form of stress relief.”

She Doesn't Compare Herself to Others

Zelu shares a lot of her thoughts on Instagram. In this post, she talked about no longer comparing herself to others. “Dear Diary 💭📝, Today’s contemplation led me to a profound understanding of the detrimental impact comparison has on our lives. It’s like a silent intruder, subtly creeping into our thoughts and poisoning our perception of ourselves and others. It’s a universal struggle, one that weighs heavily on the hearts of many. I’ve come to realize that comparison is the ultimate thief of joy. It robs us of our ability to appreciate our own journey and achievements, as we constantly measure ourselves against an idealized version of others. I’ve resolved to break free from its grasp. We should choose to celebrate our own unique path, recognizing that each step forward is a triumph in itself. Rather than fixating on external benchmarks set by others, I’m focusing on personal growth and development. Whether it’s through learning new skills, cultivating gratitude, or simply practicing self-compassion, every effort counts.”

She Hikes

Zelu is seen on a hike in the previous Instagram post. Harvard Health states that hiking is very beneficial. “Like brisk walking, hiking is a good way to improve your cardiovascular fitness, particularly if your route includes some hills, which will force your heart to work harder. Taking a hike on the slightly uneven surface of a trail also provides a natural way to engage the core muscles in your torso and to hone your balance skills.”

She’s Resilient

Resilience is another important thing to Zelu. She talked about this in the caption of this Instagram post. “Dear Diary 💭📝, I witnessed something truly remarkable that touched my heart deeply. It’s amazing how people can go through the toughest storms in life and yet remain gentle, patient, and kind. I saw someone who faced challenges that would break most people, yet they chose to respond with grace and humility. Their ability to stay calm and compassionate in the face of adversity is nothing short of admirable. It made me realize the beauty of resilience – the strength to keep going even when life throws its hardest punches. These individuals not only endure the storms but also emerge from them with a spirit that shines brighter than before. Their example reminds me of the power of kindness and the importance of staying true to oneself, even in the darkest of times. It’s a reminder that even in the midst of chaos, there is beauty to be found 💕🫶”

She’s Accepted Herself

Zelu talked about the importance of acceptance in this Instagram post’s caption. “Dear Diary 💭📝, Today has been a rollercoaster of emotions, but amidst it all, I feel like I’ve taken a step closer to the right direction. Letting go of the past is like shedding a heavy coat I’ve been carrying for far too long. It’s not easy to release the memories, the pain, the regrets, but today, I made a choice to loosen the grip they had on me. It’s like taking a deep breath after being underwater for too long—refreshing and liberating. Forgiving myself has been a journey filled with tears and moments of self-doubt. But today, I finally understood that I deserve the same forgiveness and understanding I give to others. It’s like giving myself a warm hug, wrapping myself in kindness and acceptance.”

Regular exercise and a healthy diet can bring many benefits, including more energy, happiness, health, and even a longer life. It's something we all know but we always make excuses for. So hopefully you can start moving your body little by little and eat a little better and obviously enjoy something delicious on the weekends 😋.”

Allina Health reports that squats are very beneficial to do. “The squat is one of the all-around best exercises to do for your lower body. It strengthens and tones muscles in your thighs, butt and calves and improves posture, balance, flexibility and inner core strength. Squatting also improves bone mineral density to keep your bones strong. Include squats in your exercise routine two to three days a week to reap the benefits from this dynamite move.”

Viciconte is also seen doing hip thrusts in her Instagram video. Gymless states that the exercise has a lot of health benefits. “Hip thrusts, as a compound movement, aid in increasing lower body strength and power, enhancing athletic abilities such as running, jumping, and powerlifting. By strengthening the posterior chain muscles, you can enhance your posture and lower the risk of back pain and muscle strain. Strong glutes and hamstrings contribute to hip and knee stability, minimizing injury risks in sports and daily life.”

Viciconte is seen using a stationary bike in the previous Instagram video. Doing this can help strengthen your muscles. Penn State PRO Wellness explained, “Riding a stationary bike can help build strength in your legs and lower body, especially if you use a higher resistance. The pedaling action can help strengthen your calves, hamstrings, and quadriceps. Additionally, it can work the muscles in your core, back, and glutes. If you use a bicycle with handles, you’ll also be able to work your upper body muscles, including your biceps, triceps, and shoulders.”

She Runs

Viciconte shared this Instagram video of herself working out. In it, she is seen doing running exercises. Viciconte captioned it, “When we exercise, our body releases endorphin, a natural substance produced by the brain during and after physical activity. The release of endorphin, also known as the 'joy hormone', helps you relax, reduces stress, anxiety and improves your mood. I always say that it's never too late to start moving, so you know that tomorrow you have no excuse 💪🏻”
