1. Healthy Diet

Manjrekar put on some weight during the COVID-19 lockdowns, but worked hard to get back into healthy habits. “Fitness, for me, is when you look at yourself in the mirror and feel happy with what you see,” she says. “So, I decided to get my act together and started with a new diet plan. I also changed my sleep pattern. I used to be up till late in the night and would snack at midnight. We had stocked up on chips, chocolates and other such junk snacks, and I would often end up eating those. I requested my parents to lock away the junk food, and so they replaced it with healthy stuff overnight.”
2. Working Out Five Times a Week

Manjrekar lost weight by following a healthy diet and working out. “I lost eight kgs [17.6 lbs] by weight training four times a week and doing cardio once a week,” she says. “Apart from the routine workout every evening, I have started doing activities like a bit of mixed martial arts, dance, brisk-walking or cycling. I am glad that I have moved away from the unhealthy lifestyle that I had got used to.”
3. Light Lunch

Manjrekar enjoys lentils, rice, spinach, and salad for a typical lunch. “Spinach has long been regarded as a plant which can restore energy, increase vitality and improve the quality of the blood,” says registered nutritionist Jo Lewin. “There are good reasons for this, such as the fact that spinach is rich in iron. This mineral plays a central role in the function of red blood cells which help transport oxygen around the body, supports energy production and DNA synthesis. However, high levels of a compound called oxalic acid, naturally found in spinach, appears to inhibit the absorption of minerals like iron; that said, lightly cooking or wilting appears to minimize these effects.”
4. Fruit Every Day
Manjrekar enjoys fresh fruit every day, with her favorite fruit being apples. “Apples are low on the glycemic index (GI) thanks to their fiber content,” says registered nutritionist Nicola Shubrook. “This, together with their high flavonoid content, may help to improve insulin sensitivity, which is important both for weight management and preventing diabetes.”
5. Natural Look
Manjrekar loves a natural look for her skin and makeup. “I always start my makeup with rose water as a toner on my bare skin. That helps bring out the natural glow,” she says. “Things like cream contours, liquid contours and stick contours will look more natural and will give you a glow. These contours also blend well. Instead of using powder blushes, I usually use a cheek tint. They give you a natural flush.”
