Skiing

Garal enjoys skiing trips to glamorous locations such as Courchevel, France, with Asensio. "All over the world if there are mountains and snow, there will be people skiing," say the experts at the University of New Hampshire. "So not only do you have a great group of people having a fantastic time; you've got a motivational team that encourages you to get off the couch in the winter and get your heart pumping all day!"

Swimming In the Ocean

Garal loves swimming in the ocean (usually after diving off a luxury yacht!). "Swimming is one of the few activities that works your whole body," says the British Heart Foundation. "Breaststroke, backstroke, front crawl, butterfly and even doggy paddle get your legs and arms moving. This in turn works your back and core muscles."

Fresh Fruit

Garal loves fresh fruit for a snack, especially grapes. Grapes have many health benefits, including lowering cholesterol. "It also gives us nutrients that feed our gut bacteria, making the microbiome a much better community of good bacteria while promoting gut health," says Zhaoping Li, MD, PhD, chief of the division of clinical nutrition at UCLA Health. "Eating natural foods like grapes is good. You want to eat them as a replacement to processed foods. Food quality really matters."

She Loves Animals

One glance at Garal's social media shows she is a friend to all animals. "Research shows that pets can lower blood pressure, reduce stress, raise blood oxytocin levels, and, in some cases, may reduce direct pain," says Michigan State University. "According to Bayer, people living with dogs are 15 percent less likely to die from heart disease."

Vegetables and Salad

Garal loves getting her vegetables and salad in wherever possible, like on a delicious mushroom pizza with arugula. "We've long known that mushrooms are good for you because of their bioactive compounds, and we're learning more about their benefits every day," says Joyce Prescott, RD. "There are so many varieties to enjoy in a wide variety of dishes, and we can also use them in many ways to supplement our diet and help keep us well."
