Becoming Vegetarian

Malhotra made the best of COVID-19 lockdowns by experimenting with her diet. "Since I was alone in Mumbai, it gave me a lot of time to experiment in the kitchen and make good vegetarian and vegan stuff for myself to eat," she says. "During all that, I found a lot of substitutes for meat and eggs and dairy that I was used to eating. In fact, now, I'm actually enjoying eating all the substitutes."

Body Butter

Malhotra keeps her skin moisturized with shea butter. "It's a rich emollient that can help to heal cracked skin due to its vitamins A, E, and F content. It's not super greasy and provides a skin-softening effect," says cosmetic chemist Ginger King.

Energy-Boosting Diet

Malhotra says she feels an increase in energy since incorporating more plants into her diet. "I can see a lot of difference (after the decision). I have a lot of energy during the day, and just feel lighter, as opposed to the times when I used to eat non-vegetarian food," she says. "Now, I'm hoping that I'll find a substitute for dahi (curd) soon so that I can turn vegan also. Because I love my dahi with my dal chawal."

Balanced Lifestyle With Plenty of Sleep

Malhotra believes in the importance of a balanced lifestyle. "To lead a healthy lifestyle, you need to have a healthy balanced diet, exercise and rest," she says. "I am a fan of desi food and prefer dal chawal with ghee, dahi chawal, and khichdi. So, my fitness mantra is to train hard, eat clean and sleep at least eight hours a day. Nothing can happen overnight. Only with regular and consistent training, can your body change."

5

Environmentally Conscious

Malhotra says environmental activism is important to her. "Being environmentally conscious and aware is an extremely crucial part of our lives, especially right now," she says. "In order to maintain the sustainability of the planet, everyone needs to do their bit. I'm taking my baby steps towards being environmentally conscious or aware, and I'd suggest other people to also start today to implement more planet friendly changes in your life."
