1

Salad and Plenty of Water

Mohan keeps her diet simple and straightforward. "My personal fitness mantra is to eat healthy food and work out," she says. "I make sure that I eat right and consume more salad, fruits and drink lots of water. Earlier, I was a strict vegetarian but of late I have started eating non-vegetarian food too."

2

Vegetables and Soup

Mohan avoids processed junk foods. "My day starts with a heavy breakfast including fruits, cereals, juices, and eggs," she says. "I sip on a lot of water throughout the day. Lunch usually [consists] of roti or brown rice, salad, tandoor, and curd. For dinner, I have lots of steamed vegetables and soup. I prefer to stay away from packaged foods and junk during the week and I'm very conscious of the nutritional factor in the food. Indian cuisine is my favorite."

3

Lots of Green Tea

Green tea is Mohan's caffeinated beverage of choice. "Green tea is exceptionally high in flavonoids that can help boost your heart health by lowering bad cholesterol and reducing blood clotting," say the experts at Penn Medicine. "Studies show this type of tea can also help lower blood pressure, triglycerides and total cholesterol."

4

Burning Calories All Day

Mohan's career as a professional dancer keeps her moving. "I'm constantly burning calories because I'm busy dancing all day long," she says. "I generally workout every day for a minimum of 30 minutes with a 15 minute warm up and in case I have extra time then 60 minutes. My workouts include breathing exercises like Kapal Bhati, ab crunches and strength training. Breathing is crucial in dancing and so, it is an important part of my exercises."

5

Eating for Health

Mohan makes sure she eats for her health first, and for indulgences second. Her favorite "cheat" meal is ice cream. "Regarding health issues, it is very important to be disciplined hence one has to eat in a right manner," she says. "I cannot understand how people can avoid taking care of their health. I would also like to advise people to eat what is right for the stomach and not the tongue."
