Her Trainer Balances Fun and Work

Vergara has worked with a trainer, Gunnar Peterson, to keep herself in shape. Peterson says that while he makes sure Vergara, and all his clients, work hard, he also makes sure they have fun. He told Shape, "I try to keep it fun. I try and put a little bit of levity in it, but at the same time, I don't sacrifice the work. We may goof around and stuff, but we're definitely going to goof around while we're working."

She Loves Pilates

Vergara broke down her typical day in an interview with Glamour, where she revealed what her favorite way to workout is, and when she likes to do it. "After a quick lunch, I'll start a workout. My go-to workout is a Pilates workout on the Lagree Fitness Megaformer machine." "Pilates (pronounced Pi-LAH-teez) is a system of exercises developed by Joseph Pilates that strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health," says the Mayo Clinic. "In addition, other benefits to practicing Pilates include:

  • enhanced athletic performance

She Loves Cardio Classes

Vergara also told Glamour that in addition to Pilates, she makes sure to do some cardio workouts on a regular basis. She says that she likes to take cardio classes at her local gym. "I also mix in spinning classes for cardio a couple of times per week." "Aerobic exercise provides cardiovascular conditioning. The term aerobic actually means 'with oxygen,' which means that breathing controls the amount of oxygen that can make it to the muscles to help them burn fuel and move," says the Cleveland Clinic.

She Prioritizes Sleep

One of Vergara's wellness and health secrets is getting enough sleep. She said in an interview with Celebuzz that she prioritizes her rest. "I try to sleep well because, I mean, I think it's kind of important when you do the kind of job that I do to sleep well." "Create a room that's ideal for sleeping. Often, this means cool, dark and quiet. Exposure to light might make it more challenging to fall asleep. Avoid prolonged use of light-emitting screens just before bedtime. Consider using room-darkening shades, earplugs, a fan or other devices to create an environment that suits your needs," says the Mayo Clinic.

She's All About Moderation

When it comes to wellness, Vergara says that she believes in balance and moderation. And when she says balance and moderation, she isn't just talking about her diet. She told FOX News that her philosophy is "Not too much food, not too much exercise, not too much anything. Everything in moderation."
