1

She's a Gymnast

Ruca says her gymnastics background gave her the perfect training for professional wrestling. "I actually have a video that my boyfriend has of me where I'm in the kitchen and I learned how to get up like the wrestling way," she says. "I like showed him because that's one of the things you do on the first day is learn how to get up. And I knew how to do the rolls with my gymnastics background. I didn't have to worry about the rolls so much but those little things that are so big in wrestling, I kind of wanted to at least know what I was getting myself into before showing up."

Surfer Girl

Ruca loves everything to do with the beach, especially surfing. "Surfing can definitely be considered a form of interval training which combines short, high intensity bursts of speed with a recovery phase, repeated during exercise training," says CSUSM professor Dr. Sean Newcomer, part of a team conducting research on the health benefits of recreational surfing. "Many surfers believe that while surfing is fun, it's not necessarily a viable form of exercise on its own. This information has so far shown that surfing is very beneficial to the cardiovascular system and is a great part of a healthy lifestyle."

Ruca says learning how to be a wrestler took her out of her comfort zone—and she appreciated it. "It was a bit of a struggle at first, definitely a huge learning curve being able to have those moments in the ring and being able to be a character in the ring whereas like sports, you're supposed to be serious the whole time," she says. "If you're talking and making facial expressions and that type of stuff is a big no-no. Learning how to do that and being comfortable with that was like the biggest learning curve."

4

Snowboarding

In a break from her usual beach activities, Ruca loves winter sports such as snowboarding. "It's well documented that skiing and snowboarding benefits cardiovascular health, overall fitness, strength, coordination, balance and more," says Ski Canada. "Regardless of your health and fitness goals, strapping on a pair of skis or a snowboard is sure to fulfill some of them. Due to the versatility of skiing and snowboarding, it can encompass the benefits of a cardio workout, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) session, and strength training session, all in one fun activity."

5

The Finisher

Ruca is famous for her wrestling finish called the "Sol Snatcher". "I'm constantly trying to evolve and better my move set, keep the crowd on their toes," she says. "I don't want to go out there and people know exactly what I'm going to do. I want to have some surprises here and there."
