She says that she has struggled with knee pain for years and several treatments, like physical therapy, weren’t always working. She syas that she likes to use gym equipment in a unique way. “I get creative and use standard strength-training machines my own way,” she says. “Take the hamstring curl machine. Instead of just lying face down and hooking my ankles behind the bar to engage the back of my legs to bring the bar towards my butt (as directed), I lie face-up with my upper back on the pad, the soles of my feet on the ground, and the bar positioned against my hips. Then, I engage my hamstrings and butt to lift my hips against the resistance until my body forms a straight line between my knees and shoulders.”

4. She Interval Trains

In the post on her website, Ray revealed that she likes to do interval training. “After my workouts, I do 6 minutes of high-intensity interval training with a jump rope. I'll hop for 1 to 3 minutes, take a 30-second break, then repeat for up to six minutes total before calling it a day.”

When asked about body building, Sommer said: “I started when I was around 16. I grew up with it. My dad's a bodybuilder. My mom is a competitor. So actually my first show I ever did was with my mom. So yeah, started when I was 16.” She likes sharing tips online because “I love just being on there because I wanna like show girls that you can post what you want and do what you want and just embrace being you and being beautiful. Because we're all beautiful and unique in our way,” she told CTV.

2. Sometimes She Has Down Days

“I don't work out every single day. Like obviously I'm not a crazy person, but yeah. Sometimes I have days where I'm even like a bad mood and I'm down on myself. Like with things like that, people don't understand. It's like, everyone's human. I have days where I wake up and I feel disgusting and fat. And I'm like, Ew at myself, you know, I look at me, I'm like, disgusting. So we're–as girls, we just like have this, and every girl's the same. Like, it doesn't matter. Because when that is over, you're gonna forget about working out and you don't care about working out anymore. “I eat in moderation,” she said. “That's my thing. There's balance. Like I'm not just gonna eat cheeseburgers every day. Come Friday I'm gonna have a cheeseburger and then I'm gonna have salad. It's called balance.” As for working out: “I try to work out every day. I mean, I used to be really, really consistent, but like I'm so busy now that it's like, sometimes I get off track, but yeah. I mean, I eat what I want, but the I'm also blessed with a good metabolism because I can really eat what I want and I burn it off really quick,” she told Off the Pill.

The “best business advice is to do what you're passionate about. Because I feel like business, too, can just be doing what you love. Sommer Ray has been lifting weights since she was 14 and even started competing in bodybuilding competitions at 16. She told Cosmopolitan, "it’s a whole different world where many girls are on steroids, and I didn’t want to do that to my body," about why she stopped.

"If there’s something not permanent on my face like a zit, I’ll smooth it," she told Cosmopolitan. "If I take a photo at a bad angle, I just won't post it. I don't Photoshop my body because it would feel like a false advertisement."

Sommer is serious about fitness, working out five times a week for up to 90 minutes. She spends two days on her lower body. "If my glutes are sore, I tell myself, 'I probably shouldn't work them today,' " she says. "I just listen to my body." Other than that, she mixes up her workouts. "There’s not a certain exercise or specific workout that’s beneficial," she says. "I switch it up every day and try to make it fun, because as soon as it feels like a job, you don’t want to do it."

Ray told Cosmopolitan that she eats a whopping 70 grams of protein per day to keep her glutes built. She starts the day with a protein shake and eats five more small meals throughout the day. Because Ray tries to eat 70 grams of protein a day to maintain her glute muscle mass, she starts most mornings with a protein shake, the first of six small meals throughout the day. Grilled chicken, veggies and steamed white rice is one of her go-t0 meals, but she will also indulge in In-and-Out Burger (without the bun) or turkey from Jersey Mike’s. For carbs, she eats starchy veggies and whole grains.

5. She Cheats on the Weekend

Sommer isn’t all work and no play. Occasionally she will have a drink, like tequila, or eat to her cravings. "If I want a slice of pizza, I have a slice of pizza. I want to look good, but I also want to enjoy life," she explained. “If you feel less deprived by eating that piece of cake, or burger and fries, and don’t feel you have to order one of everything off the menu, it could lead to better long-term outcomes,” says Julia Zumpano, RD, LD of the Cleveland Clinic.

"I don’t want to motivate women to look like me — I want them to love themselves the way I do," Ray told Cosmopolitan. "Society puts on pressure to look and be a certain way — you're your best when you are confident in yourself." "Rather than talking about physical attributes of your child or others, instead praise his or her personal characteristics such as strength, persistence and kindness. Avoid pointing out negative physical attributes in others or yourself. She Does Squats

Stankovic does squats to keep herself in shape, as you can see in her Instagram video. Piedmont says that this exercise has a lot of health benefits. “Whether you’re hoping to tone your muscles, strengthen your core or just improve overall health, squats are one of the best exercises you can do. Although the movements appear relatively simple, squats can take time to master. She Does Deadlifts

French is seen doing deadlifts in her Instagram post. This exercise has a lot of benefits. NASM says, “A Romanian deadlift is a hip-hinge pattern that works the hamstrings and glutes. It is a form of deadlift with noticeably less bend in the knee, leading to greater hamstring engagement than traditional deadlifts. The move was introduced to the masses in the 90s by Romanian weightlifter Nicu Vlad (an Olympic and World Weightlifting champion) and his coach Dragomir Cioroslan. The two invented the move to help Nicu strengthen his back for the clean and jerk. Today, RDLs are commonly used to strengthen the posterior chain, using the core muscles to stabilize and the hamstrings and glutes to drive the movement.”
