1. Do Be Disciplined

Sophie, a childhood athlete, learned about the importance of discipline. “[Gymnastics] taught me about discipline,” she told Teen Vogue. “You have to repeat a routine a hundred times to get it right, and when you do gymnastics you have to block out everything around you."

2. Do Go Hiking

Sophie is an avid hiker. She regularly shares photos of her hiking trips on social media. “This hike was just incredible. 🥾 It’s called the Tongue Canyon Trail, it’s 4,7 miles and takes you through so many different landscapes along the way. Once you reach the top, you’re surrounded by a 360 degre view of the mountains and it’s absolutely breathtaking. We even fell upon a group of deer a the end,” she captioned this photo, taken in Wyoming.

3. Don’t Give Up

Sophie is determined to do whatever it takes. “If I had to give one piece of advice, I would say: don’t give up. There are times that feel more difficult, but you should never throw the towel in and listen to those who say you should do something else,” she told Made In.

4. Do Indulge in Food You Like

Vulture Festival 2021 - Day 1ury/Getty Images

Sophie doesn’t dish much about her diet, but she revealed to Made In that she does allow herself to cheat. Her “biggest addiction”? Ice cream. She also has a saved collection of Instagram stories devoted to food, which includes acai bowls with fruits and granola, soups, avocado toast, and pasta, Vietnamese food, and lots of pizza.

5. Do Stay Active

Sophie maintains a very active lifestyle, engaging in lots of outdoor activities. Horseback riding, paddle boarding, cross country skiing, and biking are just a few of the things she does, per her Instagram account. Do “At least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity a week, or an equivalent combination of moderate and vigorous aerobic activity. Sophie Nélisse wowed us all on the Showtime series Yellowjackets, playing young Shauna, the teenage survivor of a plane crash with her fellow high school soccer players who grows up locked into a mystery that involves cannibalism, murder and betrayal. How did the 24-year-old Canadian land such a role, and how does she stay mentally fit? (One way is to take a vacation after all the hard work; she just shared photos of herself in a swimsuit in her recent “Mexico roll” photo dump.) Read on to see 5 ways Sophie Nélisse approaches life and work and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She’s “Never Satisfied” With Her Work and “Shocked” at all the Love

“I'm quite the pessimist in general,” she told Dead Talk Live when asked about whether or not she thought Yellowjackets would get a second season. (It has.) “Like I'm never satisfied with any of the work that I do. So I was quite skeptical. But the show runners and everyone that was working on the project, they kept telling us towards the end of the shoot, how amazing the first episodes were and how the response to it was great. And they were very confident that the show would get the amount of love and respect that it got. I was skeptical. But it's hard to say when you're in it, when you're shooting it, there's always little things that you see that other people don't….I mean, I'm still kind of shocked at the amount of love we've been getting.”

2. This is Why the Show Broke Out So Fast, She Thinks

sophie-nelisse-instagramSophie Nélisse / Instagram

Why did Yellowjackets become such an immediate smash? “I think it's because it's mostly a bunch of women and that's something we're not used to seeing,” she told Dead Talk Live. “We're used to seeing groups of people and, and we know that men are strong and capable of such cruelty and aggressivity. And that's not expected of women. We're not used to seeing women's darker side and flaws. And I think that that's what makes the show so unique and, to see how strong women are together, when we work as a team and as a group were kind of undefeatable and I think that's what's so amazing about the show.”

3. This is How She Approached Playing a Younger Version of a Well-Known Actress

Vulture Festival 2021 - Day 1 LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - NOVEMBER 13: Sophie Nélisse attends Vulture Festival 2021 at The Hollywood Roosevelt on November 13, 2021 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Rich Fury/Getty Images for Vulture)

Playing a young Melanie Lynskey, “For me, it wasn't that difficult because if you look at it from a character point of view, my character, when she's set in the wilderness or at any time, actually doesn't know what's gonna happen ahead of her,” she told Dead Talk News. “So I try not to let anything that's written of my older self affect my character, the way I play things, because Shauna doesn't know what events are about to happen. She doesn't know if she's gonna kill someone. She doesn't know what's to come. So I kind of try to just take it day by day. Obviously now that I've seen the first season and, and seen how Melanie plays Shauna, there are little things that I've picked up on, like the way she clenches her lips together sometimes, or the way she just plays certain lines, the dark humor that she brings to it. Those are definitely things that I'm gonna try to incorporate in the second season, if I have a chance.”

4. She Underwent a Physical Transformation

Vulture Festival 2021 LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - NOVEMBER 13: Sophie Nélisse attends Vulture Festival 2021 at The Hollywood Roosevelt on November 13, 2021 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by David Livingston/Getty Images)

To play a young Shauna, “I had to go through obviously some physical changes because I'm blonde with blue eyes and in the show I've” got brown hair “with brown eyes. And I also noticed when we first started talking that we have quite a different like pitch in her voice, like she speaks way higher and I speak quite lower. So we kind of had to adjust to sort of meet in the middle and kind of, sort of sound the same.”

5. Here’s Why She Became an Actor

LA Premiere Of Entertainment Studios' "47 Meters Down Uncaged" - Arrivals WESTWOOD, CALIFORNIA - AUGUST 13: Sophie Nelisse attends the LA Premiere of Entertainment Studios' "47 Meters Down Uncaged" at Regency Village Theatre on August 13, 2019 in Westwood, California. (Photo by Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic)

“I kind of fell into acting when I was young because my brother wanted to become an actor,” she said at the Toronto International Film Festival way back in 2016. “And at the time I was doing gymnastics, so I kind of just started acting a bit to get money, to pay for the travel expenses. And recently I was sitting down because I needed to find what I needed to study after I finished high school and I was looking at all these different jobs and I was like, nothing is as interesting as like acting. And I was like, there's nothing that fits with my personality as much as acting. I was like, being an actress: It makes me travel. It makes me meet different people every day. And the kind of the routine of like a job that you do the same thing every day, that really bugs me. And with acting, I don't have that. It's always something different and something new. And so I discovered that I really wanted to be an actress, only like three months ago.”

Yellowjackets star Sophie Nélisse is using her social media to give a shout out to the people she loves best. Nélisse posted a series of photos on Instagram with the caption, “some people I love🤎🎞️”. 1. She’s a Gymnast

2022 Paramount Emmy Party - ArrivalsDavid Livingston/Getty Images

Nélisse is an accomplished gymnast, but ultimately decided to pursue a career as an actor rather than an athlete. “[Gymnastics] taught me about discipline,” she says. “You have to repeat a routine a hundred times to get it right, and when you do gymnastics you have to block out everything around you."

2. She Loves Her Veggies

Showtimes's "Yellowjackets" FYC EventDavid Livingston/Getty Images

Nélisse thrives on healthy vegetables, especially carrots. “Low in calories and a good source of fiber, research suggests that including vegetables, like carrots, in your diet helps increase fullness and a sense of satiation,” says registered nutritionist Kerry Torrens. “Nevertheless, some weight loss plans, like the very low-carb diet plans, advise avoiding carrots because they contribute more in the way of simple carbs. This approach ignores the other health benefits of carrots and the fact that, when eaten in whole form, the structure, fibre and high water content of carrots helps curb appetite. Their natural sweetness may also be helpful in reducing other sugars in the diet.”

3. She Enjoys Oat Milk

Vegan,Oat,Milk,,Non,Dairy,Alternative,Milk,In,A,GlassShutterstock

Nélisse loves to drink delicious oat milk as a dairy alternative. “Keep in mind that oat milk made at home will be lower in many of the micronutrients, like calcium and vitamin D, that are added by manufacturers to store-bought varieties,” says Jorden Edinger, RDN, LD.

4. She Is Supported By Her Co-Stars

Nélisse is close to her fellow Yellowjackets actors and enjoys the relationship they share. “Literally every weekend we would throw house gatherings, and we’d all hang and watch movies,” she says. “Some of us would go on dates in the city and then we'd all gather around, all 10 of us, like, ‘Tell me all about it!’ We supported each other. Actors can get competitive, we're all going out for the same parts and stuff, but everyone was so supportive and we'd all cheer each other up.”

5. She Is Competitive

Nélisse’s gymnast background impacts the roles she chooses. “I think that’s so interesting to be able to offer nuances because we’re all so nuanced as human beings, so I love embracing that,” she says. “I also try to go for characters that are out of my comfort zone. I come from quite a sporting background, so the competitiveness inside of me wants to take on characters that offer a challenge.”

Nélisse is a former gymnast, and she says that this has helped her in her acting career. She says that gymnastics helped give her the discipline she needs to succeed at the things she does. “[Gymnastics] taught me about discipline,” she says to Teen Vogue. “You have to repeat a routine a hundred times to get it right, and when you do gymnastics you have to block out everything around you."

2. She Rides Horses

She adorably captioned the post, “His name is Trigger. We are very good friends now.”

3. She Hikes

Yellowjackets star Sophie Nélisse is on vacation, and it’s somewhere way, way warmer than the Canadian wilderness (where her hit show is set). Nélisse—who plays young Shauna on the Showtime smash—shared a photo of her in a blue bathing suit, walking between two rows of what looks like a tropical hotel. We’re guessing it’s from Holbox, Quintana Roo, Mexico, from which she’s been sharing photos all week. “Vamos,” she captioned it, adding a pineapple emoji; in English, that’s “let’s go.” How does the 21-year-old approach her life and character? 1. She Was a Gymnast

“[Gymnastics] taught me about discipline,” she told Teen Vogue. “You have to repeat a routine a hundred times to get it right, and when you do gymnastics you have to block out everything around you." “Gymnasts require stamina and good cardiovascular health,” sports medicine specialist Marie Schaefer, MD tells the Cleveland Clinic “Exercises that get your heart pumping are beneficial both during and between competition seasons.”

2. She Was Intrigued by the Psychology of the Series

Vulture Festival 2021David Livingston/Getty Images

Yellowjackets captured her right on the page. The show "touches many different genres but I do love that it taps into horror a little bit but also psychological thriller because I love to see the progression of these girls as they're stuck in the wilderness—like, how it affects your mental health and the extremes that they end up going through because they've been stuck there for so long and how some friendships with the girls that were together before the plane crash, how it will affect is friendships and they'll fall apart and how other relationships will come together and some girls will grow together,” she told Sky Atlantic. “But even though it's very dark and it's very intense, there is also some lightness to it and some funny moments specially with like the older cast. You can tell they have trauma that has all of them throughout the years but there's also some funny moments and there's some loving moments also in there.”

3. She Has an “Inner Strength,” Says Her Co-Star

"47 Meters Down: Uncaged" Press ConferenceVera Anderson/WireImage

Yellowjackets star Melanie Lynskey—who plays the adult Shauna—looked for commonalities in their performance. “Sophie has more directness in her manner. I feel like I’m quite apologetic. I mean, I’m from New Zealand and we’re all basically apologizing for our existence with every word we speak. We’re like, ‘Aw, sorry but here’s what I think.’ My own sort of energy is not quite as direct and confident as Sophie’s, and it was something that I really loved about her and I thought, ‘This is an interesting thing to try to have Shauna be a little bit more good with eye contact, a little bit stronger, not so sort of [hunched] with her body, but a bit more confident with her body,’ because there was something in Sophie that’s like an inherent strength, which I think is really nice for the character,” she told Collider.

4. Her Character Has an “Underlying Power” Also

2019 Toronto International Film Festival - "The Rest Of Us" PremiereRobin Marchant/Getty Images

We were “finding things that Melanie and I had in common with Shauna,” Nélisse told the Washington Post. “Which mostly is this underlying power that she doesn’t have [at first] that really progresses.” The character Shauna is “in this constant struggle [to] accept her darker side, the darkness I think she doesn’t want to admit that she has, that kind of scares her almost, at times. … I think there’s this constant conflict [between] being herself and being who people want her to be.”

5. As for the Show, She Doesn’t Know How it Ends

Vulture Festival 2021 - Day 1Rich Fury/Getty Images

“We know very little about the end, even how they got rescued and how many people died. Are they the only four other than Travis? Are there more? Maybe there are other people that we’re not aware of. We know so little. There’s so much to uncover,” she told Hollywood Life.

On the Showtime hit series Yellowjackets, every one of the young stars is a breakout. But one may look more familiar than others: Ella Purnell has been working since age 9, appearing in films like Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Army of the Dead, as well as the TV series Sweetbitter. Now, the 25-year-old Brit (yes, she’s British!) is finally getting the mega-fans she deserves. And she took a trip to Barbados to decompress. “I made my mum take these,” she captioned some photos of her in a blue bathing suit. “STOP IT,” commented her costar Sophie Nélisse. “Stop. 1. She Works Out, Sometimes With Her Mom

“Working out with mama!” Purnell captioned a pic of the two in a gym. “Exercise and physical activity can be enjoyable. They give you a chance to unwind, enjoy the outdoors or simply engage in activities that make you happy. Physical activity can also help you connect with family or friends in a fun social setting,” says the Mayo Clinic. “So take a dance class, hit the hiking trails or join a soccer team. Find a physical activity you enjoy, and just do it. Bored? Try something new, or do something with friends or family.”

2. She Trained for an Action Movie

Vulture Festival 2021David Livingston/Getty Images

For the movie Army of the Dead: “I went to the gym and did boxing lessons with my stepdad, but I’m just not that way inclined. I’ve got the upper-body strength of a spoon and I’m not very coordinated. I’d get told off because if I try to look cool, I’m doing something else weird with my limbs. When I was running, if I’m holding my gun with one hand, I’m doing gun hands with the other [laughs]. We spent time with these two nice ex-army dudes. They taught us how to shoot, move as a team and have each other’s backs,” she told Vogue.

3. Here are Sage Words About Mental Health

Premiere Of Showtime's "Yellowjackets"Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images

“I didn’t realise that with this support system that I’ve relied on to be there for me—my friends and family who love me and who I love—sometimes you have to tell them you love them. Now what I’m finding interesting is choosing how to spend my time and the people I surround myself with, and how that has a direct impact on my mental health. I had some big talks this year. I’ve got friends of 15 years and we haven’t had a deep conversation in five or six years. Time doesn’t stop like that very often and it won’t stop in the future, so it’s about taking that time out to do that,” she told Vogue.

4. This Was Her Comfort During the Early Days of the Pandemic

White,Chocolate,And,Raspberry,MuffinShutterstock

“White chocolate and raspberry muffins! [laughs] I was based in Los Angeles for the majority of lockdown. I was reading through my journal a couple of nights ago, and I was like, ‘Wow!’ I grew up. A lot of stuff went down in my personal life and I had to find hobbies. I’ve been working since I was nine years old. I feel like I was sort of deficient in other parts of my life. My relationships got stronger. I discovered that I love plants, painting and writing poetry. I went camping for a month in California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah. I learned a lot about myself and overcame some demons,” she told Vogue.

5. Here’s Her Take on Jackie and Shauna’s Relationship

On Yellowjackets, Purnell’s character and ’s character has an intense relationship, sharing secrets but hiding others, supportive while also undermining. "I think Jackie and Shauna are in deep-friend love…. Maybe some of the dynamics between them are a little more complicated because there’s a lot of jealousy and possession and codependence. And that comes up a lot in female friendships."

The Italian influencer keeps her followers in the loop when it comes to fitness, beauty, and wellness, proving that looking and feeling great is all about consistency. From skincare rituals to core-sculpting workouts, De Bortoli’s daily habits make it clear that staying in shape is about more than just hitting the gym. Whether she’s cooking up homemade meals, breaking a sweat, or showing off a fresh new look, she’s all about feeling her best from the inside out. Here are five of her go-to habits for maintaining a strong, confident, and glowing presence all year long.

She Takes Care Of Her Skin

De Bortoli has impressive skin. Naturally, she takes care of it on a regular basis. De Bortoli shared this video on Instagram sharing her skincare routine. She captioned it, “The secret to perfect skin? Here is my step by step routine! ✨💦🎀 What product can you absolutely not live without?”

She Changed Her Hair Color

De Bortoli recently changed her hair color. She explained why in the caption of this Instagram post. “The good thing about this color is that it does not require frequent touch-ups and it easily adapts to natural hair growth, it is versatile and can enhance any body and face shape 🧡for those who are tired of blonde or brown, bronde is the solution to change harmony without distortion 🤍for those who have a fair complexion, the most golden tone is recommended 🤎 for the dark complexion, on the other hand, more ash brown ❤️ 🔥what can I say... For me the bronde conquered, and what do you think?”

She Cooks

De Bortoli likes to cook, and she was taught to do so by her grandmother. She shared this video on Instagram of herself and her grandmother cooking together. De Bortoli captioned it, “Grandparents are wealth in society, my grandmother loves to cook and do it with her since I was a child. She has always inspired my creativity, patience, discipline and order but above all traditions, history, and the concreteness of nature's gifts. The greatest teaching my grandparents passed on to me is respect for people, the environment, animals and the kitchen... Today together we made Carnival Frittelle, an easy, quick dessert that adults and kids love. The ingredients are few and simple (but of high quality) and, trust me, the result is guaranteed: nice round but above all soft and tasty.”

She Works Her Abs

De Bortoli shared this video of herself working out on Instagram. In it, she is seen doing core exercises like sit-ups. Core exercises are extremely important. The Mayo Clinic says, “Strong core muscles make it easier to do many activities. When your core muscles are strong, it's easier to swing a golf club, get a glass from the top shelf and bend down to tie your shoes. Strong core muscles help athletes, such as runners. That's because weak core muscles can lead to more fatigue, less endurance and injuries.”

She Works Out With Others

In the previous Instagram video, De Bortoli is seen working out with a friend. Better Health says that this has a lot of benefits. “You’re less likely to get bored when you have a workout buddy, especially a friend. While you’re catching up, having a laugh, encouraging each other, you’re also getting healthier. It’s a win-win. Chatting to a friend during exercise and breaks can help time pass quickly too. You’ll have more options as well, such as a game of tennis or squash.”

Kristin Cavallari is a reality TV and fashion icon. Since she debuted on Laguna Beach, people have clamoured for her fashion and beauty secrets. Cavallari recently shared her eye makeup secrets on Instagram, after several people asked for them. She captioned the post, “This is for the girlies in my DMs asking about this eye every time I do it. Sorry the lighting is awful. I also don’t know why the audio isn’t in sync for half of it 🫣 but here ya go 💗”

She's Less Strict With Her Diet

Kristin shares a Zucchini Almond Butter Blondies recipe

Kristin Cavallari/Instagram

Cavallari has written several cookbooks, and they have changed as her diet has changed. While promoting her book, Truly Simple with EatingWell, she revealed that her diet is less strict. “I've gotten to a point in my life where not everything has to be so perfect anymore,” Cavallari said. “I used to be so strict about what I was putting in my body. I'm still very healthy and very conscious of it, but I've gotten a little bit more lax. True Roots and True Comfort had nothing ‘white’ in them: no white flour, no white sugar, no white salt. But in Truly Simple, I bend a little bit in a few of the recipes, which really reflects where I am in my life and my new way of eating. Everything is a little bit more relaxed around here now.’

She Loves Cauliflower

Cavallari tells EatingWell that she loves making foods with cauliflower. “I love cauliflower because I think it's very versatile, and there's actually a Sweet Harissa Cauliflower recipe in Truly Simple that's my absolute favorite cauliflower recipe on the planet. If you've ever been to True Food Kitchen, their cauliflower was the inspiration behind it. There's this sweet harissa dressing that's on it, and there's little chopped-up dates in it, so it has that nice balance between sweet and savory. It's the absolute best.”

She Loves Salad

Cavallari likes to make salads. She shared one of her favorite recipes with EatingWell. “This salad has a few of my favorite things: salmon (which has omega-3s and is so, so good for you), bacon (no explanation needed), avocado (healthy fats), and spicy tomatillo ranch dressing (just yum). Together, they create culinary heaven. If you aren't familiar with tomatillos, they're similar to tomatoes but are slightly less sweet and are perfect when drenched in ranch.”

She Works With A Trainer

Cavallari tells Us Weekly that a lot of her gym sessions are with her personal trainer. “He kicks my ass,” she says. “He pushes me really hard. He has me actually lifting really heavy weight, the heaviest weight I’ve ever lifted in my entire life. I feel the best I ever have. I feel like I’m the strongest I’ve ever been.”

She Shared Her Eye Makeup Trick

Cavallari shared some of her wellness secrets in an interview with Us Weekly. She says that consistency is one of her biggest priorities. “My goal is sort of, right now, just to maintain the muscle that I have,” she says. “I’m really petite. I have no hips. I’m just small. And so if I don’t work out for like a week or two, I feel like all my muscle goes away. So it is about consistency for me.”

Rebeca Andrade is an Olympic gymnast. She is the most decorated Olympic athlete from Brazil, having won two gold medals, three silvers, and a bronze. Andrade recently shared some highlights of her native Brazil on Instagram. In some of them, she posed in a swimsuit while wading. Andrade captioned the post, “SC-&-RS🏕️🌅❤️ Being free is a paradox. It's committing to the life you want, without running away from the work that it entails. It's building freedom every day, with conscious choices and, mainly, with the acceptance that freedom is not the absence of limits, but the autonomy to know which ones are worth it and which ones are not. Being free is being willing to carry the weight of your own life and still find it funny.”

She Swims

In her Instagram post, Andrade is seen swimming. The Cleveland Clinic says that swimming has a lot of benefits. “Swimming takes much less of a toll on your body than, say, running or riding a bike. That’s because exercising in water lessens the impact of your body weight on your joints.”

She Does Gymnastics

Gymnastics is the main way Andrade stays in shape. British Gymnastics states that the sport has a lot of benefits. “When you take part in gymnastics, or any sport for that matter, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. These also help to trigger a positive feeling in the body which can have a positive impact on your happiness and mental wellbeing. This can help to combat feelings of anxiety and depression.”

She Prioritizes Safety

Andrade talked about her training approach in an interview with the Olympics website. She says that she and her coach prioritize her safety, and that she will skip floor sessions if she isn’t able to do it. "I talk a lot with my coach and we trust in each other. We always try to be really safe, and do floor in the correct moments. He believes in me. I'm never going to lie to not do it. So, when I really tell him that I can't do it, it's because I cannot and he always respects that.”

She Sets Goals

In her Olympics website interview, Andrade talked about her commitment and goal setting. Specifically, she talked about her goal to make the Olympic team. “The other [goal], which is the main one, is for us to qualify as a team,” Andrade said. “I think it will be very important for me, for my team, and the focus is on that, whatever happens there, the result is a consequence of our work, of our commitment. But I really want to be there with my team and be happy and healthy.”

She Cooks

Andrade makes sure to eat healthy. She also likes to cook a lot of her own meals. She shared some of her favorite things to make in an interview with NPR. “There was one that was with potatoes and cheese, chicken. There’s cake. There’s cookies. A lot of things.”
