Get a Little Extra Help

Teresa makes it no secret that she uses self-tanners for some added color, as we can see on her Instagram feed. Who knew this New Jersey Italian needed the help! "The bottom line is that there's no such thing as a healthy tan, unless it's an artificial tan that comes from a spray or lotion. The active ingredient in spray tans and other sunless tanning products, such as lotions and creams, is the color additive dihydroxyacetone. When applied to the skin, it reacts with dead cells in the skin's surface to temporarily darken the skin and simulate a tan. The coloring typically wears off after a few days," says the Mayo Clinic.

In her Instagram feed she speaks of the healthy benefits of salmon, cod, and sole. As the saying goes, you are what you eat. And Teresa presents a picture-perfect example! "Eating fish fights heart disease in several ways. The omega-3 fats in fish protect the heart against the development of erratic and potentially deadly cardiac rhythm disturbances. They also lower blood pressure and heart rate, improve blood vessel function, and, at higher doses, lower triglycerides and may ease inflammation. The strong and consistent evidence for benefits is such that the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, the American Heart Association, and others suggest that everyone eat fish twice a week," says Harvard Health.
