Avoiding Gluten
In a recent Instagram post, Jenna revealed she went gluten-free to reduce inflammation. However, this didn't stop her from putting on her apron and making some home-made bread. According to the Mayo Clinic, "A gluten-free diet is also popular among people who haven't been diagnosed with a gluten-related medical condition. The claimed benefits of the diet are improved health, weight loss and increased energy, but more research is needed."
Winter Sports
Jenna doesn't shy away from hitting the slopes. Here she is posing for a quick selfie on a ski trip during spring break. Being active while on vacation can do wonders! "Move over treadmill. Outdoor winter activities do more than get your blood pumping. Exercising outside, and soaking up sunlight, helps your body make vitamin D, an essential nutrient your body needs to fight off germs. Research also suggests that exercising during the winter can reduce your chance of catching a cold or the flu. That's because exercise increases your blood circulation and may flush bacteria out of your lungs and airways," says Franciscan Health.
She Practices Yoga
In her garage, Jenna has found a quiet space to practice her yoga poses. She finds the decluttered space organized and therefore a relaxing area to get into the right headspace. Per Harvard Health: "It focuses your attention on your body's abilities at the present moment. It helps develop breath and strength of mind and body." Maybe you can clear a spot in your home to practice some poses?
She Loves Her Sports
Did you know Jenna plays hockey? In this Instagram post she calls herself "hockey mom." Finding a sport you enjoy may just be the ticket to getting fit. One study found "that there is an association between physically active males age 35 or over who play ice hockey regularly (at least once a week) and enhanced health more so than other physically active males…participation can be promoted among less physically active adults and people who are new to the game or who have historically lower levels of participation including women and recent immigrants."
She Works on Her Core
In an Instagram video Jenna shares with her fans that she enjoys working on her core and getting into her overall fitness routine. Harvard Health states, "A strong core also enhances balance and stability. Thus, it can help prevent falls and injuries during sports or other activities. In fact, a strong, flexible core underpins almost everything you do." After turning 45, Jenna says, "I made a goal for self-care and fitness." It sure shows, Jenna!
